Well equipped and comfortable. Great location with lots to see and do. Kids had a great time - they particularly liked being ‘downstairs’ with their own floor. We were grateful for the scones on our arrival - very welcome after a long journey. Lostwithiel is a little gem of a town - loved the riverside. Thank you for a great holiday!

Very well equipped, comfortable accommodation. Small fenced, private patio with seating in sunny spot. Although rural and quiet, the location was good with shops, cafés and take-away places a short distance away although some would deliver too. Convenient for visiting beaches and tourist attractions. The owners were lovely and friendly but not intrusive. The best holiday I have ever had. I will be recommending roosters to my friends and family. Linda Maiden.

  • "Just wonderful!"

Roosters was exactly what we wanted, a cute character cottage on a lovely small holding. Beautiful gardens, ponds and very comfortable. Everything we needed was provided, so no need to take any household items with you. Scones, jan, clotted cream, wine & milk await you on arrival. Flowers to greet you. Ed was very helpful and looked after us well. He clearly works very hard to maintain this beautiful place. There is a pony, 2 dogs, a sheep, cat & 2 tortoises to keep the kids busy. 10 minutes drive to Bodmin, 34 mins to the north coast, loads to see & do all around. The perfect location for your holiday!! Thank you!!

Host, Ed made us very welcome and the added touches were the flowers, bottle of wine and cream tea left for us. Accommodation was lovely and the beds extremely comfortable, gorgeous sheets! TV reception was poor but this didn’t concern us as we didn’t intend to watch TV until the Queen died on out last night and we wanted to catch up on the news. Only slight criticism is the wording in the description which says “one mile to the shops “ whilst this is true, I feel it should mention that it is down a long and windy road with no pavement either side which made walking to it quite difficult..This was pointed out by the Ed when we arrived but it should perhaps be in the initial information. Would definitely stay at Roosters again. Julie, Gary, Mark and Ann

The owners made us feel so welcome; they were so kind and generous to even leave fresh scones and all needed for breakfast next morning, which was much appreciated as we arrived late. They also left a bottle of Cornish white for us, really kind. They were really helpful answering all our questions and also provided us with a fantastic information pack. The property was spotless clean and it had everything we needed to make our stay comfortable; the outdoor gardens were beautiful and we loved the beauty and privacy of the terrace garden; we could even play some football wih our child there. We also liked that we were close to a different array of amenities so everyday we could visit some place of interest after enjoying a relaxed breakfast. We will definetely come back. Only thing I would say is that the description of the property on Sykes doesn't make it justice.

So well presented, and spotlessly clean and fresh and beautiful bed linen and towels! The field we were allowed to walk our dogs in was ideal for their early morning run! We had a wonderful stay despite the rainy weather, and found the location excellent for visiting places around Cornwall. On arrival there was a welcoming cream tea awaiting us and bottle of wine in the fridge which was really appreciated. The most welcoming hosts with a cream tea, and milk ready for a cuppa after our journey and a bottle of Cornish wine and a vase of welcoming flowers. Roosters is located in a really tranquil area yet within an easy journey to the many sights of Cornwall. We visited Lanhydrock, Lost Gardens of Heligan, the Eden Project and many different beaches and fishing villages. Probably the highlight for our 4 year was the delight of roaming free to feed the fish, a carrot or two for Tara the pony, juicy lettuce leaves for the tortoises, a cuddle and a run with Meg and Gizzi (the 2 dogs). Comfortable beds and pillows and the most luxurious towels! The perfect spot for a relaxing week. The property

Located on an ancient farmstead in a lush, pretty valley just outside Lostwithiel, Roosters is a beautifully presented and luxurious barn conversion.

Offering split-level accommodation for four, this lovely property boasts wonderfully green views of the surrounding countryside, and is a haven for those seeking peace and tranquillity.

Entry to the property is on the first floor level, straight into the bright and airy open plan living space where a high, beamed ceiling affords plenty of natural light.

With a modern country cottage feel, guests will feel immediately at home here – comfortable and looked-after.

A dual-aspect master bedroom with Juliet balcony is located on the first floor; a twin bedroom with en-suite wet room is situated on the ground floor.

The terraced patio with pretty borders is a lovely spot for a summer barbecue or morning coffee; guests also benefit from access to a small lawned garden (shared with two adjacent holiday barns) as well as nine acres of the ownerÂ’s grassland, home to a flock of Shropshire sheep.

When you feel ready to explore further, the medieval town of Lostwithiel is just a short drive away; here you will find a number of good restaurants and pubs, delicatessens and plenty of antique shops – something which the town has become famous for!

The area surrounding Lostwithiel is a ramblerÂ’s paradise; mysterious and atmospheric Bodmin Moor is not far away, and the South West Coast Path offers some of the most beautiful scenery in the county.

Visit the quintessentially Cornish ports of Polperro and Fowey, or catch the passenger ferry across to Mevagissey – you might even spot a dolphin on the way!

Well-placed for a relaxing holiday away from it all, Roosters offers a luxurious break whatever the time of year.

About the location

LOSTWITHIEL

Bodmin 5.5 miles; Fowey 7 miles.

A delightfully peaceful country town, nestling in the Fowey river valley amid the woods and fields that characterise the area. Renowned as a centre for the antiques trade, there are several shops and dealers in the town, as well as a fine collection of country pubs, restaurants and a thriving farmer’s market. Lanhydrock House (NT) and gardens is just 3 miles away, while the fabulous Boconnoc House, Eden Project, shipwreck museum and tall ships harbour at Charlestown, and the picturesque fishing villages of Mevagissey, Fowey and Padstow, with the famous Rick Stein restaurants, are all within easy driving distance. The tumbling Atlantic surf, long sandy beaches and dramatic coastline of the north coast, including at the renowned Newquay, make for great days out and there is also chance to enjoy river canoeing, biking, hiking and leisurely walks in this lovely area. The friendly locals also have ongoing activities, such as the raft race, the famous tug of war, Carnival week and seagull outboard motor races. The river Fowey runs from the town on its 8 mile journey through the fields and wooded valleys to the gentler southern coast, a natural paradise for those who love the sea. Centrally placed, with much to do and see in the immediate area, Lostwithiel is the perfect choice for those seeking a break away from the hectic pace of the tourist resorts.
