  • "A lovely cosy cottage in an amazing location, from which you can explore the Cornish countryside."

This was our third visit, which speak for itself. The traditional cream tea and the little vases of flowers when we arrived were a lovely touch. As always, we have one tired and very fit dog! Thank you again Sarah for your warm hospitality.

  • "This was a very comfortable property with very welcoming hosts."

There was a delicious cream tea on arrival and fresh flowers in the rooms. The house was warm, the bed large and the towels soft and fluffy. The garden was enclosed and there was an adjoining meadow to stroll in. We were lucky enough to see deer down by the stream early one morning. It was a very quiet location, - the stars at night were so clear and bright, but there were beautiful coastal coves within a few miles and various woods and gardens. We thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of our stay.

  • "Although another property on the site at no time did we feel bothered by others."

Our hosts were excellent and very helpful and on-site if needed. The bed was comfortable, the settee was comfortable and the television was adequate. Kitchen was reasonably well equipped, no sharp knives of course. Seems to be a feature of Sykes holidays, blunt knives. The overall experience of the property and the area was superb. Highly recommended.

  • "A perfect cottage in a perfect location, we couldn’t have asked for anything more other than less rain!"

Sarah & Richard were wonderful hosts, making us and the dog very welcome indeed, never once minding when she said good morning (loudly!) to the local wildlife! The Mill Cottage was beautiful, really comfortable and blissfully peaceful, I’d recommend it to anyone. There was loads to do locally from beach and woodland walks, to visiting the fishing harbours. We found good pubs to eat at and an amazing farm shop all within a short drive, plus the best pasties in town at Nellies.

  • "The Mill is a true gem, a genuine Cornish oasis for two (plus dog!"

). Sarah welcomed us on arrival, told us everything we needed to know, and had prepared a gorgeous clotted cream tea for us! The cottage is a delightful converted Mill (compete with wheel at the back), in an upside down layout. Large comfortable bedroom on ground floor, with bathroom next door. Perfect alcove for dog bed next to front door, easy to wipe down and feed dog. Upstairs is very large vaulted living/dining/kitchen, with everything we needed for warm and comfortable stay. Log burner, TV, DVD, excellent kitchen, lovely views. Always warm, plenty of hot water. There's a pretty enclosed garden for the dog to roam unmonitored, and a huge private meadow with mown paths for dog walking. Location is perfect for exploring eastern Cornwall, north and south. Emphatically recommended, we will return. Thanks, Sarah!

We even saw a young deer in the garden one morning. Very secluded, but close to beaches and other local attractions and landmarks. Fantastic for dogs with a vets close by! Very friendly and helpful owner, who supplied a delicious cream tea on arrival. Overall a lovely place for a quiet break, warm and cosy, even with storm Ciara at its height! We have already booked another visit.

Loswithiel 1.4 miles. Nestled on the outskirts of the bustling town of Lostwithiel, in the Cornish countryside, are these superb barn conversions. Resting close to the owner's farmhouse, you are well-placed for touring some of Cornwall's finest sites, including its expansive coastline. Though The Hayloft is a first-floor apartment, it has no ground floor, so you won't be disrupted by noisy neighbours and can simply enjoy this peaceful and tranquil setting. Both these properties offer spacious sitting rooms where you can look forward to relaxing and unwinding into the evening, catching up with your favourite shows, whilst the warming woodburning stove provides that extra bit of warmth during those chillier winter months. Discover well-equipped fitted kitchens with plenty of worktop space to prepare your meals, whilst the dining areas provide space for gatherings over a well-deserved glass of wine. Each property offers a king-size double bedroom with quality contemporary furniture for storage purposes and delightful views across the fields to wake up to each morning. Pets are allowed at The Mill due to the enclosed garden, but the owners have asked guests of The Hayloft not to bring a pet with them. Discover plenty of fields surrounding the property, ideal for dog owners to go exploring with their furry companions, leading you towards the centre of Lostwithiel for its selection of traditional pubs and restaurants for that fine dining experience, as well as a choice of shops and supermarkets for picking up those last-minute essentials or enjoying a shopping spree. Travel towards the 13th century Restormel Castle, set on a romantic hilltop with far-reaching views and areas for enjoying a picnic. Also nearby is the National Trust property of Lanhydrock, dating back to the 19th century with a historic interior and surrounded by a scenic parkland. You are within reach of the beautiful and expansive coastline for accessing a number of sandy beaches for those days' sunbathing on the golden sands, swimming in the clear waters or taking the opportunity to get involved with Cornwall's favourite pastime of surfing! A truly delightful base for exploring all this stunning area of Cornwall has to offer.

A delightfully peaceful country town, nestling in the Fowey river valley amid the woods and fields that characterise the area. Renowned as a centre for the antiques trade, there are several shops and dealers in the town, as well as a fine collection of country pubs, restaurants and a thriving farmer’s market. Lanhydrock House (NT) and gardens is just 3 miles away, while the fabulous Boconnoc House, Eden Project, shipwreck museum and tall ships harbour at Charlestown, and the picturesque fishing villages of Mevagissey, Fowey and Padstow, with the famous Rick Stein restaurants, are all within easy driving distance. The tumbling Atlantic surf, long sandy beaches and dramatic coastline of the north coast, including at the renowned Newquay, make for great days out and there is also chance to enjoy river canoeing, biking, hiking and leisurely walks in this lovely area. The friendly locals also have ongoing activities, such as the raft race, the famous tug of war, Carnival week and seagull outboard motor races. The river Fowey runs from the town on its 8 mile journey through the fields and wooded valleys to the gentler southern coast, a natural paradise for those who love the sea. Centrally placed, with much to do and see in the immediate area, Lostwithiel is the perfect choice for those seeking a break away from the hectic pace of the tourist resorts.
