  • "Fantastic !"

Ideal location for us and Sarah the owner was great.

  • "Great, quiet and comfortable place and the end of a country lane."

Our hosts were welcoming and friendly, yet stayed out of our hair. The home-made scones with jam and clotted cream on arrival were very good and welcome after a long day on the road! Only issue we had was that the storage heaters weren't warmed up enough when we got there, and it was pretty cold, especially the bedroom. Next day onwards was fine though. Thanks both!

Host was friendly and helpful. Good to have spacious off road parking, garden and to feel safe. All of the latter points are very important to me when booking. Property is tired cosmetically in parts in my opinion

  • "Sarah and Richard are great hosts, the complimentary cream tea on arrival is a lovely touch."

The Mill is a historic building with some quirky aspects. The upside down configuration gives great views over the gardens and in the heatwave we enjoyed that downstairs bedroom gave some respite from the heat. The paddock was great for exercising the dog and the grounds are well maintained. Loads of wildlife including deer. The stone flagged entrance is great for taking off walking boots and drying the dog. Although the photos make the Mill look small there is more than enough room for 2 adults. Well located for the Eden Project and Lost Gardens of Heligan, Par Sands is a 10-15 min drive and dog friendly all year. Fowey is worth a visit. The only problem we had was our holiday came to an end too soon.

It is nestled within lovely countryside. Very tranquil and thus an ideal 'Get-Away'. For those with a dog, there is a small meadow to which you have access as well as a lovely enclosed garden. Beautiful Cornish Cream Tea waiting for us on arrival. Recommended!

Well located for local town and walks, but also for visiting Eden Project, Lost Gardens of Heligan, Charlestown Harbour, Lanhydrock etc. Friendly owners. Spacious living area, kitchen has all that is needed. Somewhat let down by the bathroom facilities which need a complete update, the shower over the bath in particular.

A perfect place to get away from it all. The cottage had everything we needed for our week away. The garden was fenced in so didnt have to worry about the dog being in the garden. Sun loungers available to sit and enjoy the quiet. Owner very welcoming without being intrusive whilst we were there. All in all we would definitely return to the Mill when we go to Cornwall again.

We had a very warm welcome from Sarah. Beautifully furnished with the most comfortable bed ever. Our only negative would be that although the garden is enclosed, it's not secure for dogs as ours within minutes walked up a bank by the side of The Mill and stepped over the wall. Having said that Sarah very kindly brought our boxer back. The owners adjoining meadow was perfect for quick dog walks. We would stay their again.

The property itself is gorgeous and well maintained. We had a very warm welcome from the host Sarah, who laid out a cream tea with homemade scones, which was really appreciated after a long journey. There was a delicious cream tea on arrival and fresh flowers in the rooms. The house was warm, the bed large and the towels soft and fluffy. The garden was enclosed and there was an adjoining meadow to stroll in. We were lucky enough to see deer down by the stream early one morning. Our hosts were excellent and very helpful and on-site if needed. The bed was comfortable, the settee was comfortable and the television was adequate. Kitchen was reasonably well equipped, no sharp knives of course. Seems to be a feature of Sykes holidays, blunt knives. The overall experience of the property and the area was superb. The Mill Cottage was beautiful, really comfortable and blissfully peaceful, I’d recommend it to anyone. There was loads to do locally from beach and woodland walks, to visiting the fishing harbours. About the location

LOSTWITHIEL

Bodmin 5.5 miles; Fowey 7 miles.

A delightfully peaceful country town, nestling in the Fowey river valley amid the woods and fields that characterise the area. Renowned as a centre for the antiques trade, there are several shops and dealers in the town, as well as a fine collection of country pubs, restaurants and a thriving farmer’s market. Lanhydrock House (NT) and gardens is just 3 miles away, while the fabulous Boconnoc House, Eden Project, shipwreck museum and tall ships harbour at Charlestown, and the picturesque fishing villages of Mevagissey, Fowey and Padstow, with the famous Rick Stein restaurants, are all within easy driving distance. The tumbling Atlantic surf, long sandy beaches and dramatic coastline of the north coast, including at the renowned Newquay, make for great days out and there is also chance to enjoy river canoeing, biking, hiking and leisurely walks in this lovely area. The friendly locals also have ongoing activities, such as the raft race, the famous tug of war, Carnival week and seagull outboard motor races. The river Fowey runs from the town on its 8 mile journey through the fields and wooded valleys to the gentler southern coast, a natural paradise for those who love the sea. Centrally placed, with much to do and see in the immediate area, Lostwithiel is the perfect choice for those seeking a break away from the hectic pace of the tourist resorts.
