  • "Lovely apartment."

Everything you need for comfortable stay. On arrival it was very cold weather. The fire didn't work as the remote was fused to the top of the fire and had melted. The heater didn't work. We contacted the housekeeper. He came straight out. Told us he would be back with heaters. We never saw him again. So we had to wrap up in blankets to keep warm. As luck had it. The weather changed. So then it wasn't to bad. Also the bathroom towel heater didn't work.. That was the only complaint we had

Kitchen was well stocked for a holiday although all knives were blunt. Although came in July it was cold at night week we came but no heating electric heaters in bedrooms would only stay on for small amount of time, radiator in shower room didn’t work trying to dry swim where and towel was horrible everyday using damp towels as there was no where to dry th(raining outside). Balcony had weeds growing everywhere and floor was filthy out there, general clean was ok extractor fan didn’t work in kitchen and was covered in grease and the sofas were really dirty I had to wipe them when arrived and cloths where black with stuff coming off them, however we had a wonderful stay plenty of room very pleasant place to use as a base for our holiday just the overall cleaniness could have been bit better

  • "I would not recommend this property."

We had 5 days without a working oven. We did a weeks food shop on the way down so ended up having to buy extra so we could cook hob only meals and wasted food we couldn’t cook. Owner was going to meet us at property but a hour and half after said time still didn’t turn up meaning me missed a pre paid activity. One of the showers was faulty so unable to change the temperature. Only one bathroom had hand towel and floor mat. Not enough hot water for more than 2 showers and as there were 6 of us caused an issue! The double bed mattress is very lumpy. The location itself is nice and facilities good. There are plenty of other properties to let on this site.

Sorry to hear of your problems. The showers were and still are working perfectly well with PLENTY of hot water and the temperature can be easily adjusted by swinging the valve handle in the shower. Our manager when contacted re the problems said he couldn't come that day but would come the following day which he did. The oven was replaced within a couple of days, i.e. as soon as possible. We have had no complaints about the beds from other users either before or after this complaint report. Both bathrooms have a floor mat and each person has a hand towel and bath towel. • "Well equipped, extremely clean and well presented property."

Good pub grub available on site together with gym and swimming pool. Good location to visit many nearby beauty spots which include National Trust Cotehele and Lanhydrock. Would definitely recommend this site. Minor niggles for landlord, we had no hot water for our first day as needed to switch on in upstairs cupboard which wasn't mentioned in notes and wasn't obvious and neither of the towel rails heated up even though switched on.

  • "The property was in need of a really good clean as there was cobwebs on some of the ceilings."

The hot water situation was annoying as there was only enough for 2 showers at a time, no good when there are 5 people staying there! WiFi was very slow so had to hot spot from a mobile phone to be able to watch streaming services. Having a washing machine was good, especially as the weather was bad so we got wet and dirty a lot. My dogs especially liked the birds that were nesting in the roof! All in all, we would not choose this property again.

  • "The property is in a very favourable location for the places we wished to visit (shame about the weather)."

The property provides all the facilities needed for a family holiday. There are, however a number of maintenance issues that could do with being resolved. These issues do not really result in a bad experience, more an inconvenience. I.e. extractor fan in the walk-in shower room doesn't work, the lock on shower room door not working, ceiling light in 2nd bedroom not working due to a faulty pull switch, sliding patio door lock not working, half of the 4 slice toaster not working. These are not deal breakers but could do with being addressed. I would still be happy to revisit in the future.

It has a lovely large open plan living area which was comfortable and airy. The one downfall was the quality of the beds! The double bed was lumpy with broken springs. It made going to bed a nightmare!

Hi there. We are sorry to hear you struggled with the beds. As you can appreciate, beds are largely down to personal preference, but nobody else has had this trouble before and we hope that this continues to be the case. Property Owner

We had a weeks stay. Everything you could possibly need is provided, washing machine is down in the hallway which was a god send meaning we didn’t need to take as many clothes as could wash when needed. The kitchen was very well equipped and I mean VERY well equipped, board games, books, maps, leaflets, local tourist spots and plenty of information all there in the accommodation. Safety gates fitted at top of stairs, high chair, todler raines, collapsible crib, clothes airers, hoover and so much more, we didn’t expect it to be so well equipped, complementary welcome gift of scones, jam, cream and fudge was also there upon arrival. There was tea and coffee so didn’t have to unpack to make that first brew, there is excellent Wi-Fi provided in the property with smart tv including Netflix, now tv, i player etc. Beds are super comfy, pillows were better than premier inn! Two bathrooms on the ground floor, one with a walk in shower and the other with a bath and over bath shower. The lounge has a spectacular view and is huge, open plan into the dinning area which is so pleasant to sit and have dinner with direct access to the balcony. Very impressed with the accommodation, was sad to leave but hoping to book for two weeks next year. We wanted accommodation with use of a pool, the pool is on a booking system, easy to use and book and can book as many times as you want, it’s lovely pool, really warm and use of the sauna, we had 3 sessions in the pool, no large inflates allowed but we had our own small beach balls, dive sticks and snorkels which the kids used. Didn’t use any other facilities in the park as we were out most days. Defiantly recommend Tamar 4, will book again. Thanks again to its owners.

  • "This property has the bedrooms, bathroom and shower room downstairs, The Bathroom has no ventilation to remove the steam when in use."

There is a window but this has to remain closed when in use due to privacy. This causes the bathroom to get very damp and without any windows remaining open the property can smell musty downstairs. A dehumidifier would help downstairs to take moisture getting into the bedrooms. There were no toilet rolls left in either toilet and the shop on site was closed when we arrived. It was nice to receive a welcome package of biscuits and jams but toilet rolls would have been more welcome at the time. This property even though on a large site was near the entrance and was nice and quite. There is a pub on site that serves food which is ok if you like basic frozen chips and veg. The staff there are friendly and helpful.

Thank you for your feedback. Your comments have been taken on board. We are sorry to hear there were no toilet rolls left in the property, we have addressed this with the caretakers. Property Owner

It was so nice to just get the key from the key safe, without having to endure a booking in process after a long journey. We were welcomed with a laid table and a bottle of wine, which we thought was a lovely gesture. The accommodation was spacious, clean and well equipped with great views of the countryside. We all felt this was amazing value for money and would certainly come back. The swimming pool was great, with friendly staff, 1 life guard even brought in inflatables & sinkers for the kids to use. We used the restaurant once and have to say it was great value for money, and the food was good. As with the Pool, the staff were friendly and helpful. Every day there was plenty to see in this part of Cornwall, Morwellham Quay is definitely worth a visit.

We spent a week in Tamar 4 and enjoyed sitting on the balcony every morning in the sun to have a coffee and relax. We found the beds comfortable, spacious upstairs and the place was nice and clean. Plenty of crockery, oven ware, and kitchen utensils for all 5 of us. The welcome pack was a good surprise and the wine went down nicely the first evening sat on the balcony enjoying the view. The pools were lovely and very clean, we went in both the indoor and outdoor pools as had good weather. Tamar 4 is in a great location for exploring the area and beaches. I would return and happily stay if we are in the area again.

We had good holiday overall. The accommodation was good, lots of room, nice bedrooms and sitting area. The kitchen was very basic though, lacking utensils to cook, the dishwasher is old and did not function properly. The place, especially downstairs bedrooms was cold but the storage heaters kept blowing the trip switches when I tried to use them. I was not aware that the place was pet friendly. Unfortunately, no matter how cleaning is done, it is impossible to get rid of dog smells and hair. My daughter had an allergic reaction and had to take antihistamines. We did not let these things spoil our break though. The resort was nice and safe. We met lots of nice families too. The games equipment had been abused by previous guests but we took our own gear (and lent it to other families). The pool was a great bonus.

  • "We found the property online and the description matched our requirements."

The Sykes rep was exremely helpful and went beyond my expectation in contacting the cottage owner and answering my questions immediately. We were very impressed with the property, it was obvious the owners were careful to furnish and cater for a holiday family, we could not fault anything. All was in the property from ample chairs and two tables. far more cutlery, cups plates etc than required right down to the very useful 'very' sharp kitchin knife which someone had even taken the bother to protect the blade with a homemade sheath, its the little details that show how caring the owners actually are. It was like being in someones own home as a guest and feeling very comfortable. The Manor site is nice and the staff are friendly and seem to enjoy their work and being there. The staff are actually caring adults and not just 'kids' minding the shop who would 'rather be elsewhere'. Looks like a lot of work still in progress but I think it has a lot going for it, would have to see it again in the busy periods but would def come back.

About the location

CALLINGTON

Tavistock 9 miles; Launceston 11.5 miles; Plymouth 14.6 miles.

Callington is a Cornish market town, rich in mining heritage and overlooked by Kit Hill, the highest point in the area, donated to the people of Cornwall by Prince Charles to celebrate the birth of Prince William. From the top of Kit Hill there are fabulous views across south-east Cornwall as far as Plymouth Sound. Callington is set in the heart of the Tamar Valley, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and offers a good selection of shops, inns and cafes, as well as being the home of Ginsters Cornish pasties. A few miles away, the quaint village of Calstock clings to the steep banks of the river Tamar and is dominated by the splendid Calstock Railway Viaduct, a giant 11-arched stone construction supporting one of Britain’s most picturesque branch lines running through the Tamar Valley. Other interesting places along the river are Cotehele, a beautiful historic house and gardens owned by the National Trust with a small quay and inn, and Morwhellam Quay, a theme park that staged a living history production for the BBC and where visitors can explore the rich mining heritage and watch blacksmiths, potters and craftsmen at work. The pannier market town of Tavistock is only nine miles from Callington and is well worth a visit on your way to a day’s walk on Dartmoor. A splendid base to explore south Cornwall and West Devon.
