"Valley Lodge 11 was a lovely place to stay in a well situated holiday village."
Ours was a party of 5 (4 teenagers and one in his 50's). The levels of comfort were good, the balcony was a tranquil place to sit and watch the world go by, the kitchen was well-stocked and lacked nothing, and the lodge was warm during inclement conditions with the hot tub was the star of the show! The one minor complaint was the WiFi. It struggled to reach 1Mb at times, which was difficult when you have teenagers who live online. The owner kindly raised a complaint with EE, but nothing much was done. If reliable WiFi is important, it's worth checking with the owner if it's been fixed before you book. Worth noting the site itself is undergoing renovation in some areas. But it didn't interfere with our holiday, and we'd definitely return. Special mention to the staff in the on-site shop & pub, especially Teri, who were welcoming and friendly, and (Teri again) provided us with fantastic coffees and cheerful conversation every morning. Overall, highly recommended and a very happy stay.

"The code we were given to get access to the cabin was the wrong code - we had to phone Sykes to confirm and they gave us a different code."
The dishwasher was full of clean dishes when we arrived however we were expected to empty it out before we left. The hosepipe outside did not work. Everything else was great.

We had a lively time. I had taken some Christmas decorations so it was a lovely surprise and nice touch that the lodge was already decorated with a tree and lights. The welcome pack was also so nice and well appreciated by our young adults. We used the gym, games room and pool a few times and the hot tub was used twice a day - what a treat. Thanks, we will definitely recommend this place to our family and friends.

I cannot speak highly enough about this property, and this site. Firstly the lodge - we have never stayed in such a clean, quirky, well equipped holiday home. Quite literally this is a home from home with everything you could possibly need including a dishwasher and a washing machine (and we even discovered on our last day, a slow cooker in the cupboard). The stair gates at the top and bottom of the stairs were really useful in containing our little dog whilst we were in and out with luggage etc and allowed us to keep her out of the bedrooms. The lodge is extremely comfortable, stylish and beautifully decorated. The three bedrooms are spacious and well furnished. The hot tub is a dream. All information you could possibly want is available in the information pack provided. The owners have really gone the extra mile and thought of everything to ensure a safe, well informed and happy stay. Now the site - very hilly - but you feel right in the middle of nature. The on site bar and restaurant is great - with lovely food. The on site swimming pool and small gym are a real advantage - we made use of the pool every day. The changing facilities are not the best but it didn't stop us having a great time - with the lodges so close, we simply walked back up in our towels and showered at home. The on site staff were fantastic. They could not do enough for us and were really friendly and welcoming. Overall a brilliant holiday - we will definitely be back - and would not hesitate in recommending this lodge. I should add I am quite a fussy holiday maker and have rarely been this enthusiastic! Thank you very much for a lovely time.

Slight smell of damp in wardrobes and bedroom next to front door. Having access to heating controls would be an advantage for those who aren't tech minded downloading app and registering just to change temperature is a pain. Apart from that lodge is well located onsite to offer a peaceful stay, would stay again.

It was a bit odd the wifi and t.v went off when using one of the showers but this was noted . A couple of things I would say as being a lodge there was a bit of dampness in the air. Also the floorboards and house is very creakey so rather loud . I don't have any dogs so the strong smell of dog in the lodge wasent great . Especially when ypu sit on the sofa it really smelt . Better than most places I've stayed but I expected that . Hot tub was lovely at night ! Thanks
Thank you for your feedback. As you mention, when the en-suite shower is used the plug sockets in the bedroom and sitting room turn off. This is meant to happen as a safety precaution. We ae surprised to hear of issues of damp and smells of dog. The furniture is brand new and a damp survey has been carried out. The property is fully heated and ventilated so shouldn't smell. Really enjoyed our holiday very peaceful setting. Clean and tidy property.
"The Accommodation was excellent, very clean and comfortable, which far exceeded what we found at Hope Cove last year (we were very disappointed there)."
The Honeycombe site was also very attractive with pleasant staff and we were very much at our ease. One suggestion, however, a stair rail is needed for safety on one side of the steps leading up to the Chalet. My wife, who uses a walking stick, tottered from the top step and rolled down the bank. Fortunately she was not hurt but shaken. A safety rail is definitely needed. This was no distraction from our enjoyment though.

I wish to assure you that the issue with the lack of handrail is being chased with the holiday park, however in the meantime, there is an alternative way to access the property round the back that doesn't have steps. "We could only use 1 shower as if we used both the electricity went off ."
And hot tub was not clean and then didn’t heat up
Thank you for your feedback. Regarding the two areas of concern, the electric shower and the hot tub. When you use the electric shower in the property, you lose power to the sockets upstairs, this is supposed to happen as it's on a switching system that prevents overload, this is clearly outlined in the guest information file together with the telephone number for housekeeping, who will attend if required. Once the power to the shower is turned off the supply returns to normal. The hot tub does have some staining around the top near the waterline, this is caused by the reaction of the chemicals with the minerals in the water, it is not dirt, and again this is fully covered in the guest information in the lodge. We are unable to comment on the hot tub not heating up but can confirm that the water was still warm when it was emptied on Saturday morning. There are numerous reasons for the water not being up to temperature, the two most common are that the lid has been left open, or the tub has been switched off, again this issue could have been easily rectified with a call to housekeeping. "There were numerous issues with our holiday."
Firstly the TV reception was so poor that most of the popular channels were missing. Secondly the Wifi is provided via an EE box which is using a SIM card...for most of the stay this was mainly unusable due to the very slow speed. More importantly, whilst we had a fair bit of poor weather we had hoped to enjoy the indoor pool and the games room on site. The pool time had to be booked and availability was poor and available in 1 hour sessions. The games room was closed completely. Covid is not a reasonable excuse to restrict such key facilities from families. Other resorts and establishments are able to maintain full access to swimming facilities, games rooms and other activities. It all just felt somewhat lazy in my opinion.
Thank you for your feedback which is much appreciated. You are quite correct the WIFI is supplied via EE on a sim card, we only have mobile options as BT does not cover the site/lodges. I have contacted EE this morning with regards to speed and they have assured me that it is operating at the level it should. TV reception- this can be a little variable due to the position of the lodge and being surrounded by trees, I will make inquiries to see if there is a better option available and so alleviate this issue. Sadly the facilities are still having to be operated in line with government guidelines for the safety of all guests and staff members. Property Owner

"There is a couple of recommendations I would put forward."
1. Absorbent runner mat in the hall to help with wet dogs feet. 2. Hooks to hang towels round hot tub. 3. I have 2 dogs, 1 being Malamute, and the other one is a husky. What I always find is that the vacum cleaners supplied in the properties are not very good at sucking up the hair. I think it is something the owners need to think of.

Callington is a Cornish market town, rich in mining heritage and overlooked by Kit Hill, the highest point in the area, donated to the people of Cornwall by Prince Charles to celebrate the birth of Prince William. From the top of Kit Hill there are fabulous views across south-east Cornwall as far as Plymouth Sound. Callington is set in the heart of the Tamar Valley, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and offers a good selection of shops, inns and cafes, as well as being the home of Ginsters Cornish pasties. A few miles away, the quaint village of Calstock clings to the steep banks of the river Tamar and is dominated by the splendid Calstock Railway Viaduct, a giant 11-arched stone construction supporting one of Britain’s most picturesque branch lines running through the Tamar Valley. Heavy machinery and trucks could use the internal holiday park roads and could possibly not adhere to the one-way system due to the large turning circle.
