  • "The Kenegie Manor site is nice and very handy for Penzance and area."

Would be lovely if they gave all the properties a fresh coat of paint! The cottage is OK, effort has gone into some things but let down by others. On entering the dirty stains on the carpet greet you, not a good first impression. Carpet needs replacing for sure. Sofa looks fine but is not comfortable unfortunately. Fridge is ridiculously small! I wasn’t with my family, had I been it is totally inadequate. The main oven thermostat isn’t working properly, prepare to burn if you’re not very careful. The kitchen is well equipped with crockery, pans etc. On the plus size beds are comfy and nice white bedding. Good storage in both rooms. Really wouldn’t take a big investment to upgrade to a big smile!

There was three people in this cottage and only one could sit on the sofa as the rest of the cushions sunk into the base of the sofa and therefore we could not sit on the double bed in the double bedroom was okay apart from it was taped up with duct tape which obviously wasn’t successful cause it still fell apart the general cleaning was okay that there was lots of bits that were this such as edges of furniture skirting boards and also windowsills were dusty and dirty the bin in the bathroom had left over splashed on the top of the lid which wasn’t very pleasant when you want to use the bin one of the benches in the living room was also taped up with a duck tape the tiles in the kitchen floor do need replacing as they were very stained I tried washing them to cleanMyself but I think we’ll get rid of the stains I understand this is a dog friendly cottage however there are certain things that need cleaning properly

Thank you for your feedback, we are sorry that you were disappointed with your stay . In respect of cleanliness; the housekeeping team have confirmed that the house was cleaned and then quality inspected. As stated in the property we ask that any housekeeping issues are reported to reception so they can be rectified. We understand that no such issues were raised during your stay. With regards to the bed, it was repaired after damage. However, as this hasn't been successful the bed is now being replaced this week. Property Owner

  • "The property was clean and bright with pleasant surroundings."

The kitchen had everything we needed. The bed was very comfortable. The only downside is the requirement to vacate the property by 9am on the Saturday and to a lesser extent not being allowed to check in until 5pm.

  • "On entering the cottage we found that the kitchen units were dirty had lots of greasy marks all over the cupboards also the tiles and on the tiles at the back of the cooker."

Also the kitchen floor had lots of greasy marks. Considering it was past 5pm and the cottage had plenty of time to be cleaned thoroughly we were very disappointed that this had not been done, We found the corner settee was very uncomfortable. The seating was well worn and past it’s sell by date. The bedding was clean and satisfactory. The bathroom shower was good and water hot when showering, but the shower unit and tiles were not thoroughly cleaned and had soap scum marks on the tiles. In all we found the cottage to be in need of some TLC. We booked through Sykes again because we had a very good holiday in Derbyshire booking through Sykes and on arrival the owner was just finishing cleaning. There was a welcome pack of a tray with teapot and two cups and selection of biscuits and a note from owners welcoming us. Also the apartment was beautifully cleaned which is what you expect. Perhaps the difference was in our holiday at 19 Old Court it was not managed by the owners so didn’t have that personal touch.

  • "Location of holiday park is great, loads of beautiful beaches within a short drive."

Swimming pool on the site is wonderful, our little girl loved it, you have to pre-book because of covid but you can still go every day if you want. All staff were very friendly and helpful. The house had everything we needed, note there's no dishwasher and no washing machine (there's a laundry on site, we got change from reception), no wifi (but you can buy wifi from reception which we did, it was good signal), house only has terrestrial TV (we read some books! and watched couple of films on ipad with our wifi). We had a really great holiday and would come and stay again, we love the area and the holiday park was a good base.

  • "Floor not clean, hair and dirt in lounge and stains on carpet floors."

Fridge didn’t work properly so no fridge and freezer all week. No washing machine or towels despite being in the listing when we booked. Was very overpriced for all these issues and no way of contacting the owners. Swimming was an extra cost too £18 a day for a family! Or £25 pass. House smelt musty too. Disappointed as tried emailing Sykes but never got a reply. No contact details for the owners either.

Thank you so much for your e-mail. We really appreciate the opportunity to assist and respond. Fridge/Freezer The guest did not have the use of the fridge/freezer on Sunday but our duty manager visited the property on Monday morning and we delivered an emergency fridge to assist the guest. It has been confirmed by Andy (Duty Manager) that the guest did not require an emergency freezer as they had no frozen items. We would have been delighted to have supplied one if it was needed. The guest had use of the fridge until a replacement was delivered on Friday and installed. All items were moved into new fridge/freezer and emergency loan fridge taken out. Cleanliness We received no feedback from the guest in this regard and we are limited on how we can assist with this, after the event. There is never any need for a guest to "grin and bear it" - we would have been delighted to assist and resolve any concerns our mutual guest had if we were given the opportunity to do so. Our mutual client had the full use of the reception facilities to report any concerns and also was visited by a duty Manager on the Monday so we are somewhat confused and upset that we were not given the opportunity to assist. Pool Passes There was a breakdown in communication by the reception office and we apologise for this. Guests are supplied passes on request and we invoice you. On reflection, we do understand that in 2021 holiday have an extra special meaning and we hope this guest would consider staying with us again Property Owner

About the location

GULVAL

Penzance 1.5 miles.

Gulval is a village in the former Penwith district of Cornwall. Although historically a parish in its own right, Gulval was incorporated into the parishes of Penzance, Madron and Ludgvan in 1934, and like Heamoor, is now considered to be a suburb of Penzance. Gulval, however, still maintains its sense of charm and parts of the village church date back to the 12th century. Other features in the village include the 1910 granite drinking fountain in the centre of the square and the Coldstreamer Inn, allegedly one of the oldest. A charming collection of Victorian houses and cottages are also dotted around what was the village square. Why not wander into the centre of Penzance, appreciated for its abundance of palm trees and gardens full of sub-tropical plants, a sure sign that you have arrived somewhere unique. Also people can visit the surfing beaches of Sennen Cove, Porthcurno. Placed of interedt would also be Minack Theatre, St Michaels mount, Poldark country, Mousehile etc making great days out to enjoy

Please note: WiFi in the property comes at an extra cost, however there is free WiFi in the site reception and bar area.
