We had a lovel stay enjoyed every minute the only thing that let it down was the washing machine which has been broken for a while we were told and it was quite a walk to use laundry on site and 7 pound a wash but other than that it was a good holiday

I did advise a couple of problems we has No hot water we had to boil a kettle The shower in the en-suite leaked and water ran down the wall of the twin bedroom This made it difficult as all 5 of us had to use the shower on the second floor

Hello sorry you experienced a problem. The immersion thermostat had tripped hence the hot water issue, but this was replaced so that it now works fine. With regard to the shower, this was due to the door popping off it's runners - again this was fixed by our handyman who works on-site and he fixes issues as soon as he is made aware of them Property Owner

  • "Overall a great base to explore Cornwall."

However although it says no pets there is a strong smell of dogs in the property especially in the down stairs hall area and visible dog claw marks on the flooring in the downstairs lounge/dinning area. Also the on suite shower door we had to fix as was hanging off from where it slides across and actually doesn’t fit the door access properly at all. Both bathrooms needs some attention and love. Upstairs also the doors were not clean or above the sink with what looked like blood above the sink. Also cobwebs on both bedroom floor levels. Windows inside or out not clean either. For somewhere that you have to leave at 9am (ridiculous time !) and cannot access until 6pm due to covid deep cleaning I would be having words with your cleaners !

  • "Thoroughly enjoyed our stay."

Here. Kenegie Manor is a friendly and pleasant park and a good base to explore West Cornwall. Valley Cottage is a lovely well equipped property and I would have no hesitation in choosing to stay here again. Two points to note: The listing on Sykes states that towels are provided so we didn't bring any. However no towels were provided so we had to buy some locally. (This was the only downside of our stay.) Also there was no signal from the TV aerial, however the property has good wifi and a Smart TV so we were able to set iPlayer and other streaming services. Just be aware you may need to do this too. Overall an enjoyable stay.

Thank you for your feedback. We're sorry about the tv - the aerial was in fact working fine but we subsequently found that previous guests had unplugged the tv so that it needed re-tuning. We're truly sorry about the towels - we had to change cleaner/laundry services and the new ones we use don't supply towels, but we're grateful that the team at Kenegie managed to help you out (please note that our cottage, whilst at the edge of the manor estate, is not associated with it). • "The property was on a holiday village complex."

All the properties within this complex were very “Dated” all could do with updating. The service in The Bar & restaurant area was vey poor 20 mins wait for a beer which was our second choice as our 1st they had sold out. The UK’s no1 lager. I would not return to this complex. I feel this complex has let Sykes down as I am sure others would agree with my review.

With respect, this is a self-catering cottage rental and the condition of any nearby property, the waiting times at any local hospitality venue or your favourite drink not being available at a nearby bar are nothing to do with us. Property Owner

  • "A great cottage to stay in!"

The kitchen was brilliantly equipped and the whole place was very comfortable for 5 adults. Easy parking and a great location. Checkout seemed unreasonably early (the only negative we could think of).

Thank you for your feedback. Early check-out and late check-in were introduced to enable deep-cleaning and sterilisation during COVID and have been maintained to protect guests and staff. The cottage is also on the large side, taking a fair few hours to clean, so the check-in/out times do give the staff ample time to clean and prepare it. Property Owner

    .

Thank you for your feedback - we have added a tin opener to the kitchen! "Negative" feedback is as important to us as positive - we need to know how we can improve and not being local to the cottage, it's otherwise impossible for us to know what is wanting. Property Owner

  • "The cottage was fabulous."

Everything provided that we could possible need for a nice chilled week away. Only downside was the pub on site. Very slow service, even when quiet.

Thank you for your feedback. The pub on-site, whilst not associated with our self-catering cottage which is independent of the manor estate, has in winter 2021/22 had considerable investment and is improved greatly. We have passed on your comment to the bar/restaurant management team so they can train their staff accordingly. Property Owner

  • "The cottage was lovely and clean however the size of the cottage did not meet the need for six people."

There was a strong smell of mould in the bathroom. We were unable to swim due to it being booked up and the bar on site closed any time from 8 pm to 9 pm. The staff on site were rude and unapproachable The holiday cost £1000 for the week I would expect for more entertainment on site. As a family there were only 4 chairs on the balcony so could not all sit outside. We had a very disappointing stay and definitely would not recommend to any on and would not return. In my opinion a offer of a payment back should be considered.

About the location

GULVAL

Penzance 1.5 miles.

Gulval is a village in the former Penwith district of Cornwall. Although historically a parish in its own right, Gulval was incorporated into the parishes of Penzance, Madron and Ludgvan in 1934, and like Heamoor, is now considered to be a suburb of Penzance. Gulval, however, still maintains its sense of charm and parts of the village church date back to the 12th century. Other features in the village include the 1910 granite drinking fountain in the centre of the square and the Coldstreamer Inn, allegedly one of the oldest. A charming collection of Victorian houses and cottages are also dotted around what was the village square. Why not wander into the centre of Penzance, appreciated for its abundance of palm trees and gardens full of sub-tropical plants, a sure sign that you have arrived somewhere unique. Also people can visit the surfing beaches of Sennen Cove, Porthcurno. Placed of interedt would also be Minack Theatre, St Michaels mount, Poldark country, Mousehile etc making great days out to enjoy
