  • "Had a lovely holiday here."

Property was very clean and well looked after. A really nice place to go and get away with the family. We took three Labradors with us and the owners of the property were very kind and welcoming and had no issues. The property was well stocked with everything you need and the owners were more than happy to help out with any queeries and re-stocking (i.e. towels and logs etc). Would definitely recommend this property and stay here again. The woodland walks are literally on your door steps and perfect for the dogs. Can’t reccomend a walk through them to Port Melon or Mevagissey Town enough!!! Whilst staying there we got the boat from Meva over to Fowey for the day and it was cheap as chips and we got a little extra for our money on the return trip seeing four dolphins jumping out of the water and swimming up to the boat (the captain was more than happy to stop the boat and let us float for fifteen minutes or so to get a good look at them and get some brilliant photos) and to top it off we even captured a 700lb tuna fish jumping out of the ocean a couple of times at the same time!!! Meva is a lovely place to eat and drink and the locals are actually very pleasant and easy to get along with. Local taxi services are happy to accept dogs and take you back up the hill to the property which is a bonus. Would reccomend Mevagissey Spice House too for a take out curry if you stay here as the food was devine and the local fish and chippy in Meva is beyond words if you love a good chippy tea for a treat!!! For anyone who’s contemplating about this property all we can say is get it booked! The owners are very welcoming and leave you to your holiday and the porperty itself is stunning and a perfect getaway and well worth the money! Ideally located yet secluded. Perfect for stargazing too. We had a breathtaking view of the stars in the middle of our holiday in the early hours. Would stay here again just to see that view one more time! Get it booked! - Honest review (we stayed the third week of Sept 2023 for reference).

  • "We had a brilliant stay at Golowras Cottage."

The cottage is well off the beaten track and is in a very peaceful rural location with plentiful bird life and wildlife. We were welcomed by Lisa and John and their 2 very friendly dogs, Darcy and Riley. The cottage was spotlessly clean and was warm and welcoming with every amenity you could want. Beds were very comfortable and living space was absolutely lovely, the lounge area with its vaulted ceiling was very comfortable and the owl cam was great to watch. We brought our dogs with us and really appreciated the thoughtful touches like dog towels and the warm dog wash outside, so muddy paws could be easily cleaned. There are many walks direct from the door, meaning we didn’t need to drive out every day and we could pretty much free range wherever we liked. Lisa and John are really friendly and helpful with great knowledge of the local area and they work really hard on their farm from early morning to late in the evening, but were always smiling. We will definitely return.

We were able to prepare meals easilly in a well provisioned kitchen with lots of crockery and cutlery. We enjoyed some fresh farm eggs during the week also. Bedrooms are really comfortable. In all a really relaxing time where we felt relaxed along with our dogs, in easy reach of dog friendly beaches. Cannot recommend this cottage highly enough. Loved it.

Kitchen appliances all good brands and easy to use. There is lots of space with a large lounge and large dining room. It is very close to some excellent dog friendly beaches. Shopping, it is only around 7 miles to some major supermarkets. The setting of the cottage is great on a 95 acre farm which is all pasture. The setting, countryside, hosts and cottage itself. On arrival we were greeted by Lisa and the 2 resident dogs. We were a bit worried about not having an enclosed garden - but our dogs (and us) adapted well and were perfectly safe. The cottage is spacious, spotlessly clean and well equipped. There was everything you could think of needing. The CCTV to the barn owl boxes is addictive. We watched mum owl sitting on 5 eggs for the whole week. Feeling envious of those future guests who get to see them hatch. Fresh eggs and logs were in plenty of supply. Driving in Mevagissey is not for the faint hearted - but gets easier. The Eden Project is a must - but The Lost Gardens of Heligan an absolute must. We kept going back and found more on each visit. We loved our relaxing stay and will be booking for next year.

Very clean, ideally situated for exploring all of the county and caring hosts. Loved the layout, wood burner, surrounding land [ideal for dog who loved playing with friendly owner's dogs], fresh eggs and comfy beds. Quite a way off beaten track, but loved the peace and tranquility of the area, with great views over countryside. After 2 days found best way to avoid too many country lanes accessing farm, was to go via St. Austell for onward sightseeing of rest of county. Local maps provided at cottage. Nice touches for dog owners at cottage were external warm shower, towels and plenty of safe places to run freely. Highlights were Lost gardens of Heligan, Lizard point, Kynance cove, meals at Beach restaurant [St. Ives] and Crown Inn [St. Ewes]. All in all a lovely week - weather was mostly kind too!!

Located in a truly idyllic setting on the owner's farm amongst 94 acres of beautiful wild flower pasture meadows and ancient woodlands, Galowras Cottage offers total peace and seclusion yet is less than two miles from the bustling fishing village of Mevagissey.

Driving down the private unmade lane to the cottage you will realise you are somewhere special the moment you arrive with the amazing far reaching views directly in front of you.

As you enter the cottage take a look behind you and virtually all the land you can see is yours to explore for the duration of your holiday.

With individual rooms exuding character throughout this splendid barn conversion offers a well-equipped kitchen, an elegant dining room and a really comfortable and cosy sitting room complete with a woodburner and supply of logs for those cooler evenings and winter breaks.

There are three bedrooms all with beautiful countryside views, a double and two twins on the first floor and the bathroom completes the accommodation offering a chance for an indulgent soak at the end of a busy day.

This special cottage truly is a paradise for walkers, birdwatchers and nature lovers and in the evening and early morning you have the chance to watch barn owls hunting, whilst a web cam direct to the TV allows you to see the owls nesting.

The owners encourage anyone staying in the cottage to just open the doors and explore the farm and if the children are interested they are welcome to help feed the animals and collect fresh eggs.

Whilst it would be easy to spend so much time on the farm with so many areas for picnics offering such wonderful views, if you fancy a short stroll to the beach through the ancient oak woods within 30 mins (1.3 mile walk) you will be at the small sheltered cove of Portmellon where you can enjoy refreshment at the waterside pub, The Rising Sun.

With Mevagissey so close and the Lost Gardens of Heligan a walk across fields or a 5 minute drive there will always be plenty to see and do here.

All in all a very special cottage that will ensure a truly memorable holiday to be enjoyed and appreciated all year round.
