A real gem and 100% would recommend to stay there. It was very clean so you can just settle in straight away without cleaning it to your own satisfaction and standard. So sad we had to leave as one week isn’t long enough. Need to return for 2 weeks next time. The owners are lovely and friendly. This is definitely a 5 star holiday! You will not be disappointed!

We cannot recommend this property highly enough. Furnished beautifully with everything you could possibly want during your stay here. We even had a very friendly resident Robin that came to see us daily. The location is beautiful with all sorts of wildlife on your doorstep. Kim and Gary are very gracious hosts and nothing was too much trouble for them. If you're undecided on where to stay in Cornwall you can't go wrong by choosing The Barn at Rescorla. It had been many years since we had visited Cornwall and to go back and stay at this gem of a property was just amazing. We are so sorry to have missed Gary and Kim as so many good things are written about them, but Kim's brother was so good at filling in for her. The barn has everything you could wish for, is perfectly situated for a wonderfully peaceful time and like lots of others who have stayed here, we really didn't want to leave. It's far enough away from the St Austell to allow some peace and quiet, but convenient enough to get to all parts north, south, east, and west, of Cornwall. I think we can honestly say that of all the self catering properties we have stayed in, and that's a fair few, this one ranks amongst the very best. Thank you for letting us use your stunning property. If we ever come back down to Cornwall, there is no doubt where we will choose to stay. It's simply perfect!!!

If we're honest we were worried that it'd be *too* nice for the boys (it looked so nice in the photos) but we needn't have been concerned. The welcome was really warm and the house was incredibly comfortable. The setting is fabulous as you are surrounded by fields and trees and sitting outside by the lawn was lovely (owls hooting and bats circling). Inside, there is everything you need for a comfortable stay. Probably the best holiday home we've ever stayed at.

We were lucky with the weather - no rain, sunny and warm for the time of year (September 17th -24th). Little Resugga is a Hamlet but is well situated for getting onto the main routes to visit the wonderful places that this part of Cornwall offers. St Austell was the nearest shopping town but we visited Charlestown, Fowey. Polperro, Looe, Mevagissey, St Mawes, Padstow, Rock and various gardens and National Trust properties during our stay. Gary and Kim are genuinely a lovely, friendly and really helpful couple. If required, they are on hand to help with any questions that you may have and definitely added to our stay. The property is really well laid out and tastefully decorated and upon our arrival was spotlessly clean. The layout is great, with the lounge on the first floor, this gave good views over the fields. The garden is spacious and well presented and many an evening we watched the local wildlife coming and going through the garden. The barn conversion has been done very tastefully, the quality of the bed linens, towels, soft furnishing (which is very important to me) they were top notch. The kitchen had absolutely everything you would have in your own kitchen, it truly was home from home. Large south facing garden with seating placed strategically around meant you could sit in the sun all day if you wished. Also very private. The location did work out in the end as our plan was to do as much cycling as possible and we certainly did that, Port Issac, St Ives, Padstow and Lands End mostly on cycle routes. • "Little Resugga is the most beautiful and luxurious cottage we have ever had the pleasure of staying in."

On arrival we received a warm welcome from the owner Kim. She showed us around the spotlessly clean, warm, welcoming and extremely well equipped cottage. Fresh milk was already in the fridge, Cornish biscuits left on the side and the log burner laid and ready to go. The underfloor heating on slate tiles throughout the cottage ensured it was always warm and nice underfoot. Secure storage for our bikes and a strategically placed hosepipe made life very easy for us after many a cycle ride on the Clay trails. It is apparent Kim has an eye for interior design and everywhere you look shouts out quality, including all the kitchen appliances, fittings and fixtures. Somehow they make the cottage feel like home rather than somewhere just to stay. The place is hidden away and off the beaten track including an enclosed and well established private garden, but close enough to get the odd loaf of bread or beautiful fish and chips from nearby Penwithick. The Eden Project is less than 5 miles away and easily accessible by cycle, car or on foot. Owners Kim and Gary are the perfect hosts. They are there if you need them and nothing is ever too much trouble. We cannot recommend this cottage enough and if you are thinking about booking, then just do it as you won’t be disappointed and it will definitely exceed your expectations. The only disapointment was leaving such an amazing place. We will be back!!!

  • "Little Resugga is an amazing cottage, in a peaceful location."

The cottage itself is beautifully clean and wonderfully furnished. We were made very welcome by the owner who lives close by. I have stayed in some lovely cottages in my time but I was simply blown away with this one , the sense of space, quality of the fixtures and fittings. We came in early Feb and the property was warm and cosy, the underfloor heating works a treat and the log burner in the lounge makes relaxing there an absolute treat. With regards to location, this property in not far from the A30 providing quick access to explore different parts of Cornwall.

About the location

ST. AUSTELL

Charlestown 2 miles; Carlyon Bay 3 miles; Mevagissey 6 miles; Fowey 8 miles.

The old market town of St Austell, just a mile or two from the south coast, is famous as the historic centre of the china clay mining industry. Today, its many beaches and its sub-tropical gardens provide plenty to see and do. The wonderful Lost Gardens of Heligan and the Eden Project are perfect for a family day out, and a little further afield Caerhays Castle provides a stunning backdrop to Porthluny Cove. On the edge of town, St Austell Brewery offers tours of the Victorian brewing equipment and a chance to sample the local beer, and for those looking for surf and sand, St Austell Bay has several beaches to choose from - Porthpean, Carlyon Bay, Pentewan, Polkerris - the last offering a variety of water-sports. As well as a small shingle beach, Charlestown, a pretty, historic port, often has wooden sailing ships in the harbour, and is popular as a film location. A little further afield are Fowey and its beautiful estuary to the east and the fishing port of Mevagissey to the west. With lots to do and something to keep the whole family entertained, St Austell is a great year-round destination.
