    Dear Lamellan House team (at Helpful Holidays and at House), We have just returned from a fabulous week at Lamellan. WOW.... the property was certainly beyond our expectations.. From the moment we saw the house at the end of a long lane, we knew we had picked the right venue for our family get together (ages ranged from 35 to 62). A brief comment on the areas. BEDROOMS: The best and most comfortable beds we have EVER slept in at a rental property.. even the truckle bed was kitted out with a beautiful duvet and mattress topper. KITCHEN: Extremely well equipped: sharp knives, weighing scales, whisks, large pots and pans, serving dishes, plates, glasses, numerous ovens and an aga, dishwasher, washing machine and much more. We have often stayed at large houses where the kitchen has the bear minimum so thank you for thinking of everything. LOUNGES: Both lounges were very comfortable and a joy to sit in. BILLIARD ROOM: Great fun. OUTSIDE SEATING: The seating outside was extremely well thought out to catch the sun at any time of the day. POOL: The pool was a perfect temperature. BBQ area: A fantastic spot to sit and enjoy each other’s company. BATHROOMS: Couldn’t fault them. The shower in the upstairs shared bathroom was always hot and worked well. LOCATION: A great place to explore the local sights. OVERALL: Would absolutely return to this gorgeous venue. THANK YOU FROM ALL OF US.

The property

Lamellen House, is a strikingly handsome, Grade II listed, detached Victorian house on two levels, with granite mullioned windows and gorgeous long views over its 18 acres of woodland gardens and grounds.

To one side of the house is an impressive indoor heated swimming pool with changing room, shower, two WC’s, a fully equipped kitchen, and, along one side of the pool, tables and chairs shaded by a huge indoor grapevine; step outside and you are in a sheltered patio area with a little lawn complete with a Wendy house.

This is an amazing house for fabulous family gatherings.

From the scrunchy gravel driveway, step into a fine porch then through to a large entrance hall and inner hall which, in typical Victorian style, has a fascinating collection of stuffed birds and animals with two magnificent tigers up the wide sweeping staircase; the entrance hall has toys and doubles as a play area for the little ones.

There are two comfy elegant living rooms, one with Beckstein grand piano, and both have beautiful fireplaces with open fires, mullioned windows with leaded lights and lovely garden views, then there is the rather grand dining room which is just waiting for those special family meals, this room has a door to the garden.

The fully fitted kitchen is, as you would expect, big and well set up to cater for large parties.

Then there is the billiard room with a full size table and a small study/dog room with computer, colour printer and French windows to patio.

WC and back lobby for boots and coats.

In this amazing house there are two staircases – the magnificent sweeping one from the hall and the ‘servants’ one!

Both will take you up to seven bedrooms, most with granite mullioned windows and leaded lights – a super-king size half-tester double with a dressing room and en suite bathroom which is also en suite (two doors) to a zip-linkable twin with washbasin, a double with a beautifully carved half-tester bed made in 1640, with en suite bathroom, another zip-linkable twin with en suite bathroom, a king-size with en suite bathroom, a room with three single beds and a washbasin and a single with fold-out bed and washbasin.

And then, a large shower-room.

All around this exceptional house are expansive lawns and a lake which is unfenced, so small children should be supervised.

Beyond the lawns is an all-weather tennis court.

These gardens are fascinating to walk around at any time of the year, but in spring, they are spectacular with flowering trees and shrubs.

However if you can drag yourself away, nearby there are Polzeath, Port Isaac, Boscastle and golf at St.Enodoc to explore and enjoy.

Shower-room with shower, basin and WC. Ground floor WC and basin.
