In the pretty Dartmoor village of Lamerton, just 3 miles from the bustling market town of Tavistock, The Old Shippon is a detached barn conversion set in a private position adjacent to the owners’ farmhouse overlooking green fields and countryside.
A tastefully converted reverse level barn, you enter the ground floor, into a slate-floored hallway, with 3 attractive bedrooms on the ground floor, two doubles each with their own en-suite shower rooms and the twin room with use of a family bathroom.
There is also a useful ground floor utility room.
Stairs lead up to a lofty open-plan living space, making the most of the wonderful views out over moorland and countryside.
A lovely fitted kitchen with painted dove grey units, sits at one end of the room and is well equipped with plenty of space to prepare meals.
A central dining table is the focal point for family get together where afterwards a cosy sitting area furnished with plump soft leather sofas is the perfect place for relaxing after moorland walks.
Outside and totally enclosed by fencing and a gate, the level lawn garden allows parents to relax on the sunny patio whilst children play safely and securely.
A ten minute walk will take you to the village local – The Blacksmith Arms, a friendly pub serving great local ales and good food.
Tavistock is on your doorstep, a bustling market town with a fine mix of restaurants, cafes, tea rooms and independent shops.
The ancient pannier market is a jewel in Tavistock’s crown and runs 5 days a week, there is also a regular farmers market where you can purchase the very best of local produce.
Whether you are a keen cyclist or simply looking for way to explore the region, Drake's Trail is a network of walking and cycling routes between Tavistock and Plymouth and the best way to enjoy the magnificent scenery.
Cycle hire is available in the town.
For keen golfers Tavistock Golf Club welcomes visitors and is wonderful way to enjoy the moorland, although you may find yourself sharing the tee with a sheep or two!
