  • “Lovely cottage with a great enclosed garden for the dogs.”

Everything you needed for a great comfortable stay. Location brilliant for travelling around Cornwall. Driveway a little tight but after quite a few manoeuvres you can get on and off.

Everything you needed for a great comfortable stay. Location brilliant for travelling around Cornwall. Driveway a little tight but after quite a few manoeuvres you can get on and off. Shame the local pub 2 minutes away only lets locals in. Would return and recommend.

The property

Nestled in the bustling little village of Lanner, in the heart of Cornwall, is this delightful stone cottage.

Church Cottage offers a superb base for couples looking to explore the beautiful Cornish countryside.

Stepping into the property, you are greeted by a welcoming living room, boasting a large woodburning stove in a stone fireplace and sofa bed for extra flexibility.

The kitchen has been fitted with a set of pristine white units and wooden worktops so you can rustle up a delicious home-cooked meal for your partner and enjoy a romantic evening over a glass of wine.

Upstairs houses one large double bedroom, served by a shower room, with high-quality fixtures and fittings.

The bedroom boasts wonderful views across the surrounding village.

Throughout, the property has an eclectic mix of period features with the original stone walls, and high-quality modern furnishings giving the property that extra bit of charm.

Step outside to the enclosed garden area, where you can enjoy an evening watching the sunset with a refreshing beverage, while your four-legged friends run around and play.

There is off-road parking available for two cars.

While you're in the area, take advantage of the wonderful Great Flat Lode Trail, a 10km circular pathway, centering around the hill of Carn Brea, and is perfect for keen walkers and cyclists looking to explore this historical part of Cornwall.

Carn Brea dates back to 3500BC and is considered the tallest hill in the area, boasting a large medieval castle and a Victorial folly, now converted into a delightful restaurant should you become hungry during your walk.

If you fancy a drive, then travel towards the wonderful Godrevy Heritage Coast, which has a choice of beaches to explore, so you can spend the day topping up on your tan, swimming, or seizing the opportunity and learning to surf.

Also within driving distance is Enys Gardens, a 13th-century, 30-acre estate gardens, manicured to perfection, offering champion trees, a history room and on-site café.

Return to Church Cottage for a relaxing evening with your partner.

About the location

LANNER

Redruth 2 miles; Falmouth 9 miles; Portreath 7 miles.

Just outside Redruth on the road towards Falmouth, Lanner was once part of Cornwall’s mining epicentre. Today, the village is welcoming and friendly, with a number of convenience stores, a bakery, a village hall and several good pubs. Carn Marth overlooks Lanner village from its hilltop location; a former granite quarry, this is now a lovely place for a walk or cycle. Nearby Carn Brea is worth a visit too; here you will find a Medieval castle (now a restaurant), which once belonged to Lord Bassett, the most influential mine owner in the area during the 18th and 19th centuries. The beaches at Portreath and Porthtowan are just a short drive from Lanner, and there are several off-road cycle trails in the area, including the Coast to Coast Trail which follows the original tramway from Portreath on the north coast to Devoran on the south.
