  • "A lovely cosy cottage down a country lane and just right for 2 with everything you need."

Good facilities in the village with a shop and pub that served a good Sunday roast. Would stay here again.

  • "Quiet area."

Plenty of Owls hooting outside at night for those who love nature. We did have a couple of problems that would of been useful if described. Such as steps up from the bedroom and then flagstone steps from kitchen to bathroom/toilet. Bit slippery if floor is wet. Also main door goes straight into bedroom. So limited on space and not easy to take your footwear off. Not ideal if you had a mixed weather week. We kept having to put newspaper down. Bathroom is a spacious size. Toilet is in separate room. Few spiders but caught them and put outside. Ideal place for those who travel light and good mobility.

Wonderful to hear steam train at bottom of garden. Comfortable small cottage. All needed for a holiday for 2.

  • "It would have been good to know that there is a sky light in the bedroom with no black out blind as if I had known this I would of taken my eye sleep mask as I can not sleep in a light room."

We could also hear mice scattering around the walls of the property when in bed, which resulted in a few sleepless nights. Overall a lovely cottage and we did enjoy our stay it was just the sky light and the mice that put a dampener on the holiday.

  • "Beautiful setting, owners very friendly & obliging."

There was no mention of steps up to lounge or steps down to WC & shower in Sykes description which having mobility issues I would of certainly reconsider my choice. I was advised I was NOT the first person this year to be let down with the lack of knowledge. This did spoil the holiday to a certain extent. Perhaps description should be updated.

  • "An absolute gem of a property!"

We absolutely loved staying here. It was so peaceful and tranquil - much needed after the stresses of work and living through the pandemic! There is everything you could need inside Barn Acre and it is beautifully decorated. The owners were so lovely and very helpful if we needed anything. Also loved the chickens running about in the day. It was lovely. Some great walks nearby and an excellent Sunday lunch served at The Pheasant Inn up in the village.

It is in the middle of no where and would have to use a car to get about , we got use to the roads by about day 3. There was a lot of spiders in the rooms, im no particularly bothered by this but could be a problem for someone else . Overall stay was ok

Long days out and cosy evenings in. Our hosts, Wendy, Tony and Clare were lovely. The Lappa Valley railway ran through the bottom of the garden. 15 minute walk to the local pub. The Pheasant is a cracking pub with great ales and lovely food. I enjoyed feeding the chickens at Barn Acre. Thanks to all. Annette and Ian Parry. X

  • "We had a lovely stay at Barn Acre cottage, friendly and helpful owners and a lovely cottage."

The only difficulty we had was finding the cottage as the directions are minimal to say the least and not very accurate for those of us without a satnav! We succeeded eventually with the help of a friendly local. Inclusion of a grid reference would be very helpful especially as the cottage is actually off the road named in the instructions.

  • "I have just returned from a wonderful stay at Barn Acre Cottage."

Really didn’t want to leave in fact!! As a solo traveller I wanted somewhere cosy and within reach of lots to do and Barn Acre was perfect!! I had such a warm welcome the owners are so helpful and friendly. The cottage is decorated beautifully with so many wonderful little touches and also had absolutely everything I needed and more!!! The location was perfect for a short drive to so many wonderful different destinations yet the cottage itself is just such a peaceful and quiet place to be at the end of the day! The outside decking area was the perfect little sun trap for those days the weather was better too! I honestly booked this break on a whim not having know the area and I really lucked out with the cottage. I would absolutely recommend it for couples or solo travellers and would really genuinely love to return in the future :-)

  • "The cottage is very comfortable and has lots of touches that make it feel like home."

The couple, Wendy and Tony were very friendly and on hand at the start and we were really taken by the care and consideration they showed us. In the cottage they had also left milk in the fridge and there was a basket with tea, coffee biscuits and suger sachets. They also provided a lovely bottle of pressed Cornish apple juice. They also left us some eggs laid by their own chickens. It was these touches that made us realise that the cottage owners really cared and it got our holiday off to a great start, so a big thank you to them. We would definitely recommend this cottage, everything worked really well and it was a delight to stay there. It is a very peaceful and beautiful part of Cornwall and we found it very handy to get to all the lovely places like St Ives, Porthleven, Padgate, Fowey etc as well as the great local places. We would like to pass on our thanks to Tony and Wendy and would whole heartedly recommend a stay at Barn Acre Cottage.
