  • "We had a fantastic week at Summercourt!"

It was a much needed break from our busy lives. The cottage was very clean and everything you need was there. The view was very nice and we especially enjoyed the sheep at the field next to the house. It was very peacefully and quiet at and arround the cottage, we really enjoyed that. The weather didn't allow us to sit outside, but otherwise we certainly would have!

Many thanks for your positive feedback, so glad you enjoyed the cottage and sorry you didn’t get such good weather. Please do stay again! Many thanks Dylan Property Owner

  • "A relaxing chilled break within this delightful cottage in the small hamlet with gorgeous views over the countryside."

Everything is catered for your stay, down to the lovely homegrown vase of flowers awaiting on your arrival. Our dogs enjoyed the large secure garden with plenty of walks nearby. Would certainly recommend if you want a peaceful chilled time away.

Thanks for the great feedback, it’s great you and your dogs enjoyed the stay, it’s lovely to have a big garden for them! I’m glad you managed to get some down time. All the best Dylan Property Owner

  • "This was our second booking of Summercourt this year, both times for elderly relatives."

They had a wonderful stay. The cottage was clean, calm, comfortable, light and well equipped. The views are amazing and they made full use of the lovely outside space and spent hours watching the sheep and lambs in the next field. Their dog was safe and happy in the garden. The only downside of their fortnight was having to leave on the last day, and they are already talking about booking early in 2024. Thank you again!

Thanks for the excellent feedback Wendy, so glad your family enjoyed the stay once again. We hope they do come again and enjoy the view for a few more weeks! All the best Dylan Property Owner

The cottage was light, warm, welcoming, clean and comfortable and the views captivating. They were reluctant to leave on the last morning and have already asked us to rebook for them.

Thanks for the lovely feedback Wendy! Your family are welcome back anytime. All the best. Dylan Property Owner

  • "Cottage is comfortable with views to die for."

There should be some separate notices printed near appliances such as the electric hob and heating controls to keep it simple and cost effective. Searching through a book full of instructions just to find out how to turn things on was frustrating. Not everyone is all electric at home. Some previous customers had not cleaned the oven. Could not find instruction on recycling. Refuse collector came on Tuesday he said put all the rubbish in the brown bin and they sort it, this is rather different from where we come from. I should be pointed out the cottage is remote and a round trip of 40 mins to the nearest shop if you want anything. It is nice to be able to take your dog, the fencing around the property is adequate for a small dog but a larger dog would jump it easily. Their were sheep right up to the boundary fence. Dog owners must be responsible..... A very nice property in a beautiful location just plan your days out and don’t forget anything. Your sat nav will take you a different way to what is described in the instructions. Both ways come down to narrow country lanes, there are two ways to arrive at Summer court.

Many thanks for your feedback, we are going to look at raising the fence for larger dogs. Good idea on the instructions for the appliances. We have now replaced the instructions for the bins as they seemed to have got lost. We hope you come again. All the best, Dylan and Jane. Property Owner

Around 20 minutes to the beach (Widemouth Bay is our favourite) and same to Launceston, the nearest town. We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Summercourt and were sad to leave.

Many thanks for your kind words and we are very glad you enjoyed your stay - we agree, its always hard to leave! Property Owner

  • "We had asked before booking if the garden was secure as we were bringing our 2 dogs."

The reply from Sykes Cottages was "The owner has come back to us and said yes the garden is enclosed. We have dogs and ensure the property is dog friendly" On arrival, I was concerned about some areas of the fencing as there were some large gaps between the wires (especailly as there were sheep in the next field) but the front corner of the wall/fencing wasn't secure at all, due to the gradiant of the ground, it was just a step over for the dogs to get out. It took our older Golden Retriever just under 30 mins to find teh gap! Shame, as it put a dampner on being able to just let them out, especially first thing on a morning, the last thing you want to do on holiday is have to get dressed to let the dogs out. It meant anytime the dogs were in the garden they had to be on a lead, with one of us stood with them. I would not consider the garden to be enclosed/secure. Teh bungelow it's self has great facilities dishwasher, washing machine / dryer but no washing line? I'd really encourage the owners to provide a washing line. Main bedroom. There was a comfortable double bed, but it would have been a nicer stay if the bed had been a king, Properly sounds petty to some, but the sheets should have been ironed and towels should be provided. Rubbish and recycling - suggestion to the owners to add to the guest informaton re what bin is used for what, as it's so different depending on where you live. Overall, we would recormmend the property to other guests, the view is it's best asset, truly amazing.

Many thanks for your feedback, we have checked the fence for gaps and could not find any. We stayed ourselves for four weeks over the summer with a golden retriever and Bernese mountain dog who were interested in the sheep but not able to reach them and were never on a lead at the cottage. However, we will endeavour to add some additional height fencing the front corner to ensure large dogs don’t jump over the wall, many thanks for mentioning this. We have given information on the recycling in the information booklet, we’ll check this is up to date at the cottage. We also mention in the booking information that towels are not provided as many people like to bring their own. We’ll take up the issue of the sheets being ironed with the cleaner as you are correct, they should be ironed. Also thanks for the mention of a washing line, thats something to add - we do however also provide a wooden clothes rack that can be used inside and outside, I’m not sure if you found this? Many thanks for your kind words and final recommendation and we am sorry you had issues with your stay. All the best, Dylan and Jane Property Owner

  • "A very pleasant bungalow and the beds were comfortable."

Great view of rolling fields and sheep from the garden. The surrounding roads are very narrow but there is hardly any traffic - so need to hold your nerve driving around some of the bends. A good location for visiting north coast towns and villages such as Tintagel, Boscastle, Bude, Port Isaac and Padstow.

Thanks for your comments, the roads do take some getting used to, however as they are so quite you often see some buzzards looking for a snack! Glad you enjoyed your stay. All the best, Dylan and Jane Property Owner
