  • "Lovely cottage in a lovely location, overall very good, only thing that I think needs attention is the track leading to the cottage."

Very, very rough with big potholes, has to be negotiated very carefully if you have a small car.

Lovely location, nice and quiet. Very friendly and helpful owner.

  • "Comfortable and adequate accommodation."

Slightly disappointed that there was no secure outside space, as the property did accommodate a dog. However the surrounding fields and lanes provided lovely walks. Unsure why the door was knocked early evening on one night then before 7am on Sunday morning. Generally happy with our stay, made a good base.

Thank you for your feedback. We would never say an enclosed garden was dog proof and sorry you chose not to use the five bar gates to the property. We hope to welcome you back. Property Owner

  • "Very friendly left toiletries, milk and tea bags, thank you."

Clean and lovely little property. Only improvement would be towel hanging facility in bathroom and something for toothbrush, very small issues. Really enjoyed location and easy access to North and South coast.

  • "Lovely holiday thank you."

Bedroom ceiling rather low. Downstairs bathroom slight problem for me as I am not very mobile and didn't realise thaat there was no upstairs loo. No matter we enjoyed it ane host was very kind

  • "Neal was very informative of the area, the cottage was generally very good, except there were no cleaning products or vac/ dustpan and brush mop and bucket which would have been useful."

Soap shower gel was a nice touch. I also felt that the description of the cottage was a bot bit misleading as the front had decking and table and chairs but the view is of the side of an old barn and with a huge water tank on the side of it, the way it is worded and the pictures we thought that it would be facing a Field so a bit disappointed, but it was very quiet and peaceful

Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback. There is a dustpan and brush located in the cupboard at the property. We take pride in making sure Ivy Corner is spotless on arrival, but if anybody needs anything during their stay, please give us a shout! Property Owner

  • "A really lovely, comfortable and clean cottage."

The cottage is really well located for exploring all that Cornwall has to offer and we would definitely recommend the cottage for that alone. We did feel that the listing was a little inaccurate. The pictures show the cottage in a field with decking. The reality is there isn’t access to the field (that we knew about!) and the decking is in a sort of car park. It wouldn’t matter if you weren’t in much but as we were in in the evenings, we’d have liked a bit of green space to relax and enjoy the evening sun. A coffee pod machine would be a good addition, as would a more expansive welcome pack, which we have received at other properties. We received tea & milk which was much appreciated. It was a lovely cottage and with a few tweaks, could be perfect.

The friendly, considerate cottage owner, could not have been more helpful. The easy to manage facilities for us and for our springer made for a really relaxed few days break. Thank you Neil and Judith.

  • "No negatives."

Everything was fantastic. Had a lovely holiday. The cottage was tucked far away from any noise. You don't get that in a hotel room. Exceeded our expectations. We'd definitely come back again and judging by other comments and reviews, this property is very popular and rightly so. Happy memories!!!

  • "Where do we start with this hidden gem?"

Neil and Judith as hosts are second to non, nothing was too much trouble for them, friendly and genuine with lots of local knowledge. We arrived on the Monday after a long journey, Neil had sent us a link to the local supermarket where we shopped and booked our delivery slot. As we got to the cottage the shopping had been put away for us and a lovely bunch of flowers, clean towels and a welcome pack was awaiting us. The cottage had everything we needed, kitchen was spacious, and more than functional. Bathroom looked brand new and the bedroom was spacious with lots of storage. The only negative is that we had to come home, I would not hesitate to recommend this cottage to anyone.

About the location

HAYLE

St Ives 6.3 miles; Penzance 7.4 miles.

Hayle is in the far-flung south western corner of Cornwall and sits on an important RSPB wildlife estuary flowing out to the beautiful St Ives Bay, where visitors can enjoy three miles of golden sandy beaches, walks, history and wildlife. Hayle has plenty of activities out of the water too; Paradise Park is a wildlife park, home to some spectacular parrots, otters and red pandas. Hayle has a range of shops, restaurants and bars scattered around the estuary and harbour area. There are skittles and karting for the family, and for golfers, one of the best links golf courses in Cornwall is at Lelant, a mile out of Hayle. But the jewel of Hayle is the three miles of golden sandy beach, with fantastic surfing at Gwithian where there is a surf shop, lessons and hire of equipment. For the less energetic there are beach cafes where you can take in the views and watch the children play. As Hayle is centrally located you can easily access many other places by either public transport (there is a train station at Hayle) or driving. St. Ives is a short drive away where you can wander through the narrow streets, visit the art galleries or admire the colourful sub tropical gardens. St Ives harbour has its own small fishing fleet and there are plentiful boat trips skippered by locals keen to showcase the best that Cornwall has to offer, whether it be seal watching at Seal Island, a couple of hours' mackerel fishing or a relaxing trip to Godrevy Lighthouse. Within easy reach of Hayle is the Minack Theatre (35 mins), Falmouth Maritime Museum (40 mins), Eden Project (40 mins), St. Michael’s Mount (15 mins) and many other fantastic tourist attractions for dry or wet days.
