    Mrs Kent

“We had a lovely stay here at Shute Barn.”

Lerryn is a pretty little village in a very peaceful and scenic location on the river. The accommodation was extremely clean and very comfortable. The kitchen was well equipped and the barn had a lovely homely feel about it. We would definitely recommend Shute Barn and Lerryn.

The property

Shute Barn is in Lerryn, quietly situated a few minutes stroll from the pub, shop and picturesque creek.

It is a spacious, detached, single-storey cottage converted with skill and imagination from a barn with lots of natural materials, oak floors, high apex beams and wood-clad ceilings - everything has been done to a high standard.

Step through stable doors to a huge 48’ long open plan living/dining room and kitchen area with a wood-burning stove and a door to the back garden.

There are two bedrooms, one at either end of the cottage – a king-size double with en suite shower-room, a twin, and a family bathroom.

There is also a utility/boot room.

A good-sized, enclosed garden surrounds the cottage - at the front, passion flower and clematis trail over walls behind a raised, suntrap terrace with garden furniture and deck; at the back, a lush, mainly lawned, shrub and fern-filled garden (unfenced leat) with a lovely outlook over fields and little sitting-out area for catching the evening sun.

A lovely location in a quiet corner of this pretty village making it ideal for two couples, or small family.

It’s a short drive to nearby Lostwithiel with its shops, pub, restaurants, castle and railway station, or the pretty fishing village of Fowey.

About the location

LERRYN

Lostwithiel 3 miles; Bodmin 10 miles.

For those seeking peace, tranquillity and the unspoilt splendour of Cornwall’s ‘softer’ southern coast there can be few finer spots than Lerryn. Sitting at the very point where the River Lerryn joins the highest tidal reach of a creek leading up from the Fowey estuary, the village has a timeless, natural beauty no matter the season. Footpaths meander through the woods and along the river bank while out on the water the small boats owned by local residents provide another means of travelling down stream to Fowey (3.5miles) for shopping or just something to do in wonderful surroundings. The village boasts an award winning pub/restaurant and has a small shop and post office. Nearby Lostwithiel is renowned also for its good restaurants and antique shops. The stunning Eden Project (8 miles), the Shipwreck Harbour at Charlestown, the lovely fishing village and harbour of Mevagissey, the Lost Gardens of Heligan and the stately home and gardens at Lanhydrock (NT) can all be reached in under half an hour while Padstow and the rolling surf of the north coast are just over 20 miles away.
