  • "Me and a group of friends stayed at the watershed at the beginning of November, it was wonderful there, we had no problems with the house it was in a great location with an amazing view which ever room you was in, only slight problem was the narrow and small lanes to get there."

But everything else was completely good there. Would definitely recommend going.

  • "The house is beautiful from the outside and the views are amazing."

However, it has not been updated in many many years and it is also not well maintained. The hand rail on the balcony is split and the nails are sticking up. The tiles on the balcony are loose and broken The kitchen is old and needs attention There is no tumble dryer which for a week in Cornwall, no matter the time of year, is essential The washing machine left washing smelling funny The sofa's are old and smell The annex smells musty and I have never seen so many moths! The annex no longer has a tv in it which it does in the photo's The carpets are threadbare in some rooms and have clearly stretched over time and are no longer fitting properly. Dogs are welcome but cannot roam freely in the garden as they can get through to the field behind There was no washing line The built in wardrobes in the bedrooms have no doors but they have runners where doors should be I have called Sykes on our return and to be quite honest I was disappointed in the response I received, Basically, as long as the proper is clean that's all that matters. I won't be recommend Sykes or this property to anyone.

  • "The house was clean and comfortable."

Although it advertised an enclosed garden, it also had a ranch style fence on one side, which did not keep either our 3 dogs or my 2 year old grandsons in the garden. We had to continually watch the dogs while outside. We were also 2 days without hot water because the boiler is old and prone to breaking down apparently. The worst thing was there is an immersion heater in the house which was behind a locked door. This could have been turned on the Saturday we complained about having no hot water, but it wasn’t, we went the entire weekend with no hot water! We aren’t a particularly fussy family, but we do enjoy a shower and somewhere to bath the toddlers at the end of a hot day at the beach. The plumber is apparently a regular visitor to the house to attend to the boiler as he’d attended to it the previous week. A

  • "The cottage itself was lovely."

And the views amazing. However, some upgrades are needed. The balcony from where you would enjoy the views was rather dilapidated, broken tiles on the floor and the railings need some care and attention. The dining room could benefit from a coat of paint. The cottage is quite difficult to get to through narrow roads. But we'll worth it. We all enjoyed our stay.

  • "Beautiful large property with lovely views."

Secluded and remote. Clean and reasonably equipped. Not for the timid driver given lots of very narrow lanes. The property is tired in places and needs some TLC ... the tiles on the upper patio are displaced with water collecting under and when it rains there is a leak in the conservatory. That said we had a lovely stay, thanks

  • "Future bookings could possibly be made aware that road access is very narrow and down to single track in placess which is great for the seclusion that the holiday let offers, but might pose problem to the inexperienced or timid driver, didn't bother myself."

Some of the decor or cosmetics could do with refreshing ie. tiles on the balcony cracked & loose with water getting beneath, but on the whole very happy with the size, location, gardens and outlook, a big plus from us. Many thanks-The Simpsons

This time we found the property looking really tired. We had issues with a filthy cutlery draw, dirty plates and a cupboard with a broken door. There were hairs in the bathroom that weren’t ours. really disappointed,

  • "The house was lovely in a great peaceful location."

It was down several country roads and the closest shop was about 15 minutes away. The only issue we had was that the house was in some areas lacking in its cleanliness. There was lots of cobwebs and gangley spiders as the windows in some places didn’t fully shut. The bed in suite was a little hard and lumpy. And it was such a shame that the stunning views were a little clouded by some dirty windows. In general it was a beautiful place, amazing garden, quick access to peaceful coves, and a very enjoyable holiday - minus the few small complaints!

Watershed is in a beautiful situation, and has plenty of space for six adults and four young children. However, it is showing the effects of time a little.

  • "Beautiful property and location."

Did not feel fridge and freezer were cleaned internally on arrival. Toilets did not flush too well at times. But we had a thoroughly wonderful holiday the view is amazing from the back of property. Very large garden our french bulldogs had most of thir exercise romping around.

  • "Lovely property in a ideal location, and perfect for our golden anniversary celebration with the family."

In the current times we worried about cleanliness, but these were soon dispelled. The kitchen in particular was equipped to a very high standard and we lacked for nothing for our catering needs. The grandkids loved the garden for their games and there was no sign of dog mess from previous occupants. I must unfortunately state that we found the mattress in the suite, hard and uncomfortable, and also had a poor response from the contact person when we found we were unable to unlock the shed although using the correct code No. All in all, a very enjoyable week in a quiet location bearing in mind these were the peak holiday weeks for Cornwall.

  • "Despite having to negotiate some of the best of the small lanes has to offer (and anyone doing their research could soon see that Watershed is a bit of the beaten track), this was a great property in a perfect setting."

With staycation's being the new norm and despite some average summer weather, we were able to get out and about and enjoy some great Cornish countryside from Watershed - bays, coves, the South Coast cliffpath as well as the more traditional place like St. Ives and Padstow. Spacious and equipped to a good standard, Watershed gave room for everyone in our group to both mingle together and also have so downtime and we'd definitely look to book again.

  • "The house was comfortable with good big spaces and was well equipped."

The beds were comfortable. Minor observations: The telephone number given for the managers did not work. It either needs updating or it was deliberately switched off. The hot water setting was not as stated and hot water ran out most days. One of the toilets flushed poorly. There was no tumble drier: a problem in Winter!

  • "We have stayed in a few properties in the area of Gillan for the last few years, as we find the area fantastic for walking the dogs and the beach perfect for the children, hiring boats etc."

This year there were more family’s with us, so we found this property and booked it up. Upon arrival, after around a 6 hour drive, we entered to property to find that size wise, it was perfect. However, as we went round the property it was very unclean as there were stains on the floor dust everywhere, huge cobwebs that were caped in dust! I got back in the car and took the 40 minute round trip to the nearest supermarket (Sainsbury’s) to buy cleaning products. I then found myself spending the next four hours cleaning the property! Not acceptable! We found that most of the lamps did not work and replaced bulbs in some, all outside lighting to the property does not work, the wardrobe doors in the bedrooms do not open or close easily and in one room they were broken. The general condition of the property is poor and in much need of tlc. The bathrooms desperately need replacing and some of the windows have been broken (latches) and need to be replaced. The conservatory was covered in dead flies! We would not recommend this property at all. As I said above, we have stayed in other properties in the area over the years all of which have been to a high standard and clean throughout.

  • "Lovely and spacious house with a wonderful view and a ten-minute walk down to pretty Gillan Cove."

A large, beautifully-landscaped garden - great fun for our three dogs. The only down-side of the house's setting: the exciting 20-minute drive to and from the nearest B road via the narrowest of lanes and lots of blind corners. Still lacking in the kitchen: a second oven-glove and vegetable peeler.

Stunning views! So peaceful and we would highly recommend and will be returning, only tinny bit of criticism is the house could do with a games room or dart board but that’s minor! One of the best holidays we have had!

  • "Lovely location, overlooking Gillan Cove."

No traffic noise! Huge array of cookery books, BUT not something as basic as a potato peeler! Only a single oven glove, should be a minimum of two when handling large baking cookware and catering for a large number. Also disappointed at there being only one towel per person. Concerned over lack of basic information -eg local doctors surgery. Also we are keen on re-cyling and correct disposal of kitchen waste, etc. but there was no information about that or bin days. All previous stays at Sykes cottages have always had that sort of information and we assumed that it was the accepted policy. Apart from those little gripes, we had a lovely holiday.

  • "The House is not easy to find, and the roads are really narrow but we found a better route in and out of the area."

Although it did take longer to get places it was a better road ,and we threw the satnav in the back seat. The house was lovely and met our need perfectly lots of space to find your own peace and quiet, we spent alot of time in the conservatory (however the rook leaks when it rains) We all ate together in the evening at the big dining room table and enjoyed sunrises on the balcony which was lovely, the view is stunning over the cove. The garden was perfect for sitting out, eating out, relaxing and for the dogs to run around safely they loved it .There were fresh flowers to greet us which was a nice touch. The rooms were spacious comfortable and basically clean, however cobwebs everywhere when you put the lamps on at night they really stood out, the kitchen was well equipped but a lot of the cooking equipment wasn't clean. The chandelier style lampshade above the dining room table needs washed and the balcony needs weeded soon !!Just small things but affected the feedback score of a really lovely place. Overall an amazing memorable family holiday, and we will probably be back.x

  • "The house is lovely."

Very comfy and well kitted out. The access roads were very narrow in places. Vehicles over 2 metres wide would not make it. Perhaps a note about access ability would be helpful. We nearly used our motorhome to travel down in. Glad we didn't , we would have been unable to reach the house. The views from the property were magnificent and we really enjoyed our visit.
