We were so lucky with the weather and gathered every evening in the viewing room to watch stunning sunsets over Kynance Cove. The owners have an immaculately presented property, and have pretty much thought of everything! The house is beautifully furnished, and unusually, the quality of the Kitchen equipment meant we didn’t have to supplement it with anything, which in our past experience is more often not the case! Lovely coastal walks close by and a short stroll into the village. We would most definitely love to return. The Hartley Family. With its close proximity to the coast, large living areas and four bedrooms, Kynance Bay House is an exceptional find for families seeking a place to call home as they enjoy this special corner of Cornwall. Situated 1/4 mile south of Lizard Village and hidden down a lane that fringes the ocean, the breath-taking views impress even before you reach the private gated entrance, which is shared with two other cottages. Ships and yachts of all varieties delight the... Ships and yachts of all varieties delight the onlooker as they sail by, curling around Lizard Point. Ambling up the private driveway you will pass the old orchard on your left which is yours to wander through or sit and relax in during your stay. The orchard oozes peacefulness as it is mostly protected, even on blustery days, due to it being a sunken garden. The orchard is rather famous amongst bird watchers as it attracts the first and last landings of migrating species from all over the world and many unusual butterfly species. It is also extremely popular with the rare Cornish Choughs which live on the cliffs nearby and so it is partially wild, partially tended. The house sits in an elevated position just beyond the orchard and looks out onto the world famous Kynance Cove, arguably the prettiest beach in Cornwall. Also in plain sight from the cottage windows and garden are Old Lizard Head, Caerthillian Valley (Site of Special Scientific Interest) where Shetland ponies roam free on the cliffs. In the foreground enjoy the locals surfing the waves on Pentreath beach, with West Penwith Peninsula clearly visible in the distance. Yet the house is only a few hundred yards from The Lizard Village and the SW Coastal path is just down the meadow in front of the house, so wildlife spotting starts at the front door. There is parking by the house for 3 cars so just park up and step inside. From the moment you step into this Cornish gem with its stylish colour-filled interiors, fusing both Art Nouveau and modern design, you will experience the warm welcome of Kynance Bay House. This superb property offers space and comfort for all. The large sitting room, with sea and garden views, comfy sofas, floor cushions and beautiful open fire, leads out into the cosy sunset room where you can take in one of the most awesome views in all of Cornwall. An elegant dining-room offers the perfect setting for family meals with a baby grand piano which can be set to play pre-recorded melodies for those who don't tinkle the ivories themselves. The super kitchen has a 6-ring NEFF hob and double oven and all the equipment you would expect in a quality home, enabling you to cook up a storm whilst you take in the dramatic, ever-changing sunsets and crashing waves on the cove rocks. The chef does not miss out in Kynance Bay House!. Don’t forget to walk to Housel Bay at low tide and pop into Housel Bay Hotel for the best Cornish Cream Tea on their terraced gardens, whilst gazing out to the glistening cornish blue cove. Bass point and the famed Marconi huts are just round the corner. Or book an evening meal in Housel Bay Hotel Restaurant who serve good quality al la carte dishes or perhaps a fish medley in Polpeor café or Whole Crab Salad at The Witchball both popular with locals. The other pub in the village has just been given a new lease of life with new owners and interiors so don’t forget to pay a visit and welcome them into the village. Alternatively take your pick of locally cooked deliveries and enjoy a longer coastal path walk. Not all who wander are lost!. After an evening of family board games or Petanque or Skittles on your own garden Petanque terrain or perhaps a favourite movie on the 55” Smart TV (with soundbar that also picks up your personal Echo Dot music playlists) climb the beautiful staircase and take your pick of the bedrooms. There are 4 main bedrooms, Sunrise View (dual aspect king room with ensuite), Seal Spotter (Twin looking out to Old Lizard Head), Whale Watch (dual aspect king room with ensuite) and Armada Lookout (Master Bedroom with 4 poster). All bedrooms have incredible views, so no-one misses out. The main bathroom is upstairs, traditional with a corner bath, and plenty of hot water. There is also a downstairs toilet, washroom and a utility room with washing machine, extra sink and 3 draw undercounter freezer. Externally there is a water point to hose down your wet suit or muddy boots and a rail to hang them up to dry in the evening sun ready for your next days adventure. Owners comment: "We feel there is a magical, enchanting quality to this house. Not perfect (which house ever is?) but magical nonetheless. Built in 1888 by a gentleman farmer, it's a house that is meant to be shared through the centuries and we invite you to discover the magic of The Lizard from our special corner of it.
