  • "A lovely cottage for our week away by the seaside."

Comfortable beds and furniture, it had a very well equipped kitchen which made cooking at home very easy. Good wifi which was essential as there is no phone signal at all in Port Isaac. The cottage has an enclosed garden which was great for our dogs but it’s a shame more isn’t made of it and it was looking a bit neglected. Port Isaac itself is lovely and some great places to eat plus a well stocked coop meaning we didn’t have to use our car much. We were aware there was no parking included but with the cottage, but it would have been helpful to have some advice on parking with the other pre-booking information as it was extremely limited and the carparks are very busy and expensive and when you stay for a week or more.

Thank you for your kind comments, we are so pleased you enjoyed your stay with us .Port Isaac is a beautiful place and we hope to welcome you back again vey soon. John Bray Cornish Holidays on behalf of the owners Property Owner

  • "Having stayed in various properties in Port, Sea Holly Cottage is our favourite to date."

The property is well placed in the village. The cottage is characterful with original slate floors, original floorboards and log burner. The living room was a good size and comfortable. The master bedroom was spacious, with plenty of storage and a comfy mattress. The bathroom looks pretty new and is modern with a nice shower. The kitchen is modern and well equipped with crockery, etc. There is a table top freezer in a cupboard but the ice box in the fridge could do with defrosting. We stayed during the September heatwave so really appreciated the patio, which was an absolute sun trap. The plant area could do with a trim, it’s quite overgrown and around the front needs a little attention due to mud, leaves, etc. That said we had a wonderful week and will be back.

  • "We all enjoyed our stay at Sea Holly Cottage ,it was very cozy ,clean and all the fixtures and fittings were all of good quality."

The only thing we would suggest would be a fence fixed to the low wall in the back garden or a gate separating the lower level garden. As our two dogs joined us on our holiday ,we were unable to let them out in the garden off of their leads as the wall was so low one of the dogs escaped . The path to the front of the cottage could do with a clean up ,very soggy and slippery. Apart from that all was good. Kind regards Marilyn

  • "Overall good cottage, beds were comfortable, but would benefit from a more thorough clean."

Garden and front of the house could do with a tidy up. We also had to pick dog mess up left from previous occupants.

Thank you so much for your feedback. We will take a closer look at the garden and front of the house, we are so glad that you enjoyed your stay and would love to welcome you back anytime in the future. - John Bray Cornish Holidays on behalf of the owner. Property Owner

  • "The cottage itself was comfortable."

The cleaning was a bit disappointing. On the surface it looked acceptable but the furniture had never been moved in months and was thick with dust under the couches and tables. The outside area was very untidy and looked like it is hardly maintained.

Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback. We are pleased you enjoyed the cottage and the issues you had with cleaning will be bought to the attention of our housekeepers. John Bray Cornish Holidays on behalf of the owner Property Owner

  • "We had a fabulous time."

The only thing that I would mention is that the garden is described as enclosed but the wall on the right hand side is very low with a big drop the other side so our dog nearly escaped several times. I also think that it may be a bit dangerous for very small children. Maybe some trellis could be added to make it more secure.

  • "Property is well located in a lovely part of Port Isaac, with easy access to everything the village has to offer."

It was clean, with plenty of storage, spacious and nicely decorated. To make it even better, how about a dishwasher, cleaning up the outside entrance way (leaves and mud), and tidying some of the cupboard contents away. The steps in the garden seem unfinished? We couldn't get the oven to work (could be broken?).

Thank you for taking the time to leave feedback on your recent stay at sea holly cottage, we will speak to the owner about these points, but we do hope to welcome you back to North Cornwall. John Brays on behalf of the owners. Property Owner

  • "There were quite a few issues with the property itself, largely down to cleanliness and lack of maintenance over the previous months - which meant when we arrived it did not reflect the pictures we saw online and hence were expecting."

That said, John Bray were faultless in how quickly and thoroughly they dealt with the issues - so we will definitely book through them again, just unfortunately not this particular cottage.

Thank you for taking the time to feedback on your stay. We're very sorry that you had to experience these issues during your visit but thank you for your patience and understanding whilst we sorted them for you. • "Nice little property, just the right size for our group of four with dogs."

Stocked well with all utensils and crockery we would need. Port Isaac was lovely, being able to walk down the hill to the local pub and sit out in the harbour whilst the dogs had a good run around. Parking was not a major issue as there were normally spaces free when we came back to the house daily (after 18:00)..

Well positioned in Port Isaac with a lovely aspect. It was so comfortable with care taken over details in the decor, which we appreciated and made it very homely. A really well equipped kitchen also. Nice quality. Beautiful slate flag stones which made it practical for the dog. Would just like to mention the lovely rug in the sitting room could do with some tlc. That's my only quibble. Overall a brilliant place to have a relaxing holiday.

The property

Located in North Cornwall’s popular village Port Isaac, Sea Holly Cottage is a charming and beautifully appointed dog friendly cottage, a stone’s throw from the harbour, coastline and Port Gaverne beach.

Ideal for a couple or family of four, the cottage has been renovated to an exceptional standard whilst maintaining much of the character found in traditional Port Isaac properties, with features like exposed beams and slate floors.

Enjoy a long day at the beach or exploring the village before returning to your holiday home, where on the ground floor you will find a fabulous kitchen and dining area which combines traditional slate flooring with modern décor – a wonderful space for cooking and socialising in together as a family.

There is a separate sitting room with a woodburning stove for cosy winter evenings.

After your day of exploring comes to a close, make your way to the first floor to find two very comfortable bedrooms, a double with views over the rolling countryside and garden, and a twin room, as well as a family shower room.

Offering the perfect space for al fresco dining or garden games, outside there is both a patio area with outdoor seating for relaxing lunches in the sunshine, and also an enclosed lawn for the children to play in and burn off any excess energy.

For fun and adventure with the kids, head down to the harbour for rockpooling opportunities, or visit nearby Port Quin (a fairly strenuous 1.5 hour coastal walk, or a 10-minute car journey), for canoeing and kayaking, and why not visit the fascinating Doyden Castle whilst you are there!

Also easily accessible via a 20-minute drive is Wadebridge, where there is a swimming pool, cinema and the amazing Camel Trail – hire bikes and cycle all the way to Padstow along the estuary.

Whether you are visiting with your children, or are looking for a romantic getaway for two in a convenient location for exploring North Cornwall, Sea Holly Cottage is a great option.

Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £200.

Port Isaac; one of the true Cornish treasures. An abundance of small character properties complemented by larger cliff-top retreats, can be found with easy access to the numerous restaurants and shops of the village. The sandy harbour provides an abundance of rock pools as the tide retreats. There is ample parking at the top of the village and the village is a popular tourist destination with plenty of attractions including the dramatic Doyden Castle, the beautiful Lundy Bay and the famous Doc Martin's clinic. There are also plenty of pubs, restaurants, and shops in the village. Just a short drive from the beaches of Polzeath, Daymer and Rock, it is perfect for romantic and family holidays alike.
