  • "Had a great time."

Everything you needed was there and added to the comfort of the stay. Everything was of good quality. Cleanliness could be improved but didn’t put off our stay.

  • "Enjoyed our stay, home was good for us (a family of five and a dog)."

Only negative about location was the closest beach doesn't allow dogs; but other than that local pub, restaurants, things to do were all walkable or short (ish) drive - Eden Project, Lost Gardens of Heligan, Crazy Football, Charlestown (nice restaurants)/pubs, Other beaches

.. Thank you. We had to buy a broom...

  • "This is a very comfortable cottage , it’s a bit rustic , looking at the previous reviews most people agree ."

There are a few things that need just a bit of tlc but nothing major at all . The windows are shut with white overlapping window locks , so you need to just flick them over and they open straight away . It’s one of the better equipped cottages we have stayed in , with loads of space and also has a little outside patio upstairs that is a real sun trap , beds extremely comfy . On arrival , Anne had left us a lovely cake and milk in the fridge and a welcome bottle of wine , we did not meet but spoke on the phone . It’s a great place to explore the area and we ate in the local pub The Polgooth Inn , food and service excellent and very dog friendly . My only complaint if there were to be one is , the cottage is situated right at the end of a road junction where three roads meet , it’s on the side of the road , which is fairly busy especially in rush hour , therefore a lot of cars zooming past and a lot of traffic noise , but apart from that we had a lovely week . On another note anyone travelling to Cornwall please be patient , there are so many business struggling with staff shortages , lots of pubs /restaurants having to shut their kitchens overnight and close for ten days at a time , yes things are opening up , but it is still very precarious eating out even when booking in advance .

  • "Dirty toilet seat in ensuite ( I won't go into details) but I had to clean before use."

Wet room needs a hook closer to shower as having to walk to door hook could be slippery. Toilet handle needs tightening. Family bathroom toilet seat & taps all need to be tightened. Cold tap eventually works after water burst out & soaks you first. Dogs hairs on stairs. Some if the Kitchen cupboards won't close properly. Catches all need sorting. Toaster only half working. Couldn't find scissors. Recliner armchair broken. Couldn't get radio to work. Windows are impossible to see through. They look filthy. I took a few pictures of certain places covered in dust & didnt look as if had been dusted for months. We put out rubbish on Thursday evening as instructed but it wasn't collected. The outside of properly needs a gardener to make it look attractive. Also could do with a fan as so hot & stuffy during the hot weather. No key to open windows to let some fresh in. This property was the most expensive by far & didn't reach the usual Sykes standard. This is the 1st property we wouldn't revisit.

  • "For price paid thought house was perfectly fine."

Rustic and comfortable with necessary mod cons. Owner of house kindly left cake, wine, tea coffee etc (and dog biscuits) which is a lovely touch. No complaints.

  • "We arrived to a lovely warm cottage, milk in the fridge, freshly made cake and a bottle of wine."

It was such a nice touch, there were chews for the dogs, logs in the basket by the fire it was just like walking into your own home. The owner contacted us to make sure we had everything we needed and told us to contact her if we needed anything. It was a lovely winter break couldn’t have been happier.

Down in the glorious county of Cornwall in London Apprentice, next door to Polgooth, is a detached barn conversion Treveth Barn.

Surrounded by beautiful countryside but not too far from the coast, this large property is ideal for a large family group or a group of couples thanks to its four bedrooms and social space.

Set as reverse-level accommodation means that you enter the property and immediately come to the bedrooms, first the king-size with a low ceiling and characterful exposed beams, then the single and twin rooms, all with excellent storage in the form of wardrobes and a chest of drawers.

The master bedroom benefits from an en-suite shower room as well as a walk-in wardrobe, so you can get ready for your evening in style before heading out to the nearby restaurant for a delightful evening.

Also on this ground floor is a sparkling bathroom, complete with a roll top bath, adding an air of grandeur to this historic property, with the lovely accent of pale green in the form of tiles.

Head upstairs and be welcomed into the heart of the property, the open-plan living space where you'll find the kitchen, dining area and sitting area.

The Rayburn takes pride of place in the kitchen like any traditional farmhouse, along with a good range of appliances such as a tumble dryer, washing machine and dishwasher.

The wooden dining table is there for you all to gather around whether for a meal or a board game, whilst at the end of the room you can spend quiet evenings nestled in an armchair or on the sofa in front of the woodburning stove.

Enjoy the views out to the surrounding countryside, or take your morning coffee into the garden with the dogs to begin an activity filled day.

The nearest restaurant and bar is the lovely Kingswood Bar and Restaurant down the road, a bistro-style eatery with a modern bar, so head down to celebrate a special occasion or just take a night off from cooking!

Over in Polgooth you can grab the essentials from the village post office and store, but for more choice travel up to St Austell, one of the largest towns in Cornwall just under 3 miles away.

Visit the famous Eden Project, with its two giant biomes hosting entirely different climates and plants to what we would normally find in the UK, marvel at some of the planets most amazing eco-systems and enjoy the constant temperatures of 28 degrees.
