  • "At Saviours Chapel was so delightful."

Beautiful leaded windows that pour in lots of light. A wonderful large kitchen which was great for entertaining. The dog bath was useful on those muddy days. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

  • "Wow!!!"

What an amazing place to stay!!! We’d obviously seen the pictures but it’s even better in real life!!!! A beautiful church with all the essentials set out to a very high standard. We found the owner Toni really helpful before we arrived meaning it’s was easy to quickly settle In. Great facilities for our 2 puppies .. a dog shower special towels treats and doggie shampoo!!! Lostwithiel is also the most quaint and lovely village… 4 great pubs all doing great food and drink ( yes we tried them all in our 2 weeks) great walks and shops and a lovely river for the kids to paddle in the perfect place to gather for fish and chips or a BBQ with a beer. We loved it and will most definitely be back one day

  • "The accommodation far exceeded our expectations."

The photographs simply don’t do it justice, particularly the scale. Loved the attention to detail. The lighting, for example, transforms the space. I was a little anxious about cleanliness after an experience on another covid-holiday last year, but no issues here...everywhere and everything was immaculate. One thing we hadn’t considered was the lack of blinds/curtains (which would only detract from the exquisite stained glass) but this does mean you wake up with the light...a new experience for us but one that actually enhanced our stay as we awoke naturally (no alarm needed) and could then make the most of each day. The courtyard garden is also a real treat on a warm summer evening. Location is perfect...close enough to the main road for ease but minus the noise. Also far enough out of the town to be away from any traffic/hustle and bustle yet still close to amenities. Great walks on the doorstep too...recommend the Restormel Castle / Duchy cafe/nursery circular route. The coastal path is also a must...particularly down toward Portscatho. We will be booking again.

  • "This lovely chapel has been beautifully converted."

It’s spacious and had all the facilities that we needed. The underfloor heating was lovely, a little too warm for us, but that’s a personal thing. The kitchen was fabulous. The best bit for us was the dog shower- genius idea and well used during our stay after sandy and muddy walks!! Could do with some drawers in the main downstairs bedroom for putting clothes away. The other bedrooms had loads of drawer space. The glass bedroom doors look fabulous but would not be practical if staying with others people due to privacy issues. We didn’t use the wood burner but it looks fabulous in the mezzanine lounge. The chapel is a short drive from beaches and Cardinham woods which is ideal if staying with dogs. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would definitely return.

  • "The cottage itself is fantastic and looks like no expense was spared with the renovation."

Our niggle observations are very minor. The larger downstair bedroom needs a unit with drawers for folded clothing, bit n pieces etc, both bathrooms lack shelving to place toiletries and hooks for hanging towels/gowns etc. No mirror in upstairs bedroom. Whilst the glass doors look great to the bedrooms - they are NOT practical when sharing the chapel with another couple. Otherwise we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

  • "Really enjoyed this property as a base."

We found Lostwithiel a bit lacking as far as the actual town was concerned but it’s location for going out was great The property itself was lovely and although we were concerned about it only having one parking space we found that parking on the road was always available. We all felt that the property works had been carried out very well but that a few more outside furniture pieces and a bbq would have been nice especially during this Covid time.

  • "St Saviour’s is a stunning and beautifully executed conversion with real attention to detail."

The best equipped kitchen I have ever encountered in a holiday home. A real cook’s kitchen. All appliances are high end and the finish of the property is gorgeous. The mezzanine lounge is so comfy and we had many evenings watching films and enjoying the wood burner. The bedrooms are comfy and we all slept well. The shower and bathroom are pure luxury. My favourite thing was the doggy shower, our dachshund Monty loved it! Location was great. 15 mins to Fowey, 30 mins to The Lost Gardens of Heligan, Mevagissey. Off season roads though, I imagine traffic is a different story in summer. All in all a great place to spend New Year. Thank you to the owner of this gorgeous home from home.

  • "Cottage is a lovely show home It could do with a maintenance check though."

Several things didnt work. Extractor fan. One big bulb in kitchen. Wine cooler. We were also given ONE oven glove and one tea towel. Also instructions for lighting a fire were incorrect. Also no handbooks for oven and microwave and they would have been handy. Lastly dog poo in garden. We dont have a dog. Other than that it was lovely and toasty and very comfortable.

Thank you for your feedback, we sorry that the property didn't quite meet your expectations as advised in your feedback, we would have been more than happy to come and assist you if had been made aware during your stay. Property Owner

Owner pointed out to my mum bout someone's dog what had done very bad damage after being left in the cottage and cause of them I can understand why she's put good housekeeping bond on now. I feel sorry for her home being disrespected . It states clearly dogs should not be left on there own . All in all it was beautiful . If you have mobility problems it's not difficult or elderly . .

About the location

LOSTWITHIEL

Bodmin 5.5 miles; Fowey 7 miles.

A delightfully peaceful country town, nestling in the Fowey river valley amid the woods and fields that characterise the area. Renowned as a centre for the antiques trade, there are several shops and dealers in the town, as well as a fine collection of country pubs, restaurants and a thriving farmer’s market. Lanhydrock House (NT) and gardens is just 3 miles away, while the fabulous Boconnoc House, Eden Project, shipwreck museum and tall ships harbour at Charlestown, and the picturesque fishing villages of Mevagissey, Fowey and Padstow, with the famous Rick Stein restaurants, are all within easy driving distance. The tumbling Atlantic surf, long sandy beaches and dramatic coastline of the north coast, including at the renowned Newquay, make for great days out and there is also chance to enjoy river canoeing, biking, hiking and leisurely walks in this lovely area. The friendly locals also have ongoing activities, such as the raft race, the famous tug of war, Carnival week and seagull outboard motor races. The river Fowey runs from the town on its 8 mile journey through the fields and wooded valleys to the gentler southern coast, a natural paradise for those who love the sea. Centrally placed, with much to do and see in the immediate area, Lostwithiel is the perfect choice for those seeking a break away from the hectic pace of the tourist resorts.
