  • “St Saviour’s is a stunning and beautifully executed conversion with real attention to detail.”

The best equipped kitchen I have ever encountered in a holiday home. A real cook’s kitchen. All appliances are high end and the finish of the property is gorgeous. The mezzanine lounge is so comfy and we had many evenings watching films and enjoying the wood burner. The bedrooms are comfy and we all slept well. The shower and bathroom are pure luxury. My favourite thing was the doggy shower, our dachshund Monty loved it! ...

My favourite thing was the doggy shower, our dachshund Monty loved it! Location was great. 15 mins to Fowey, 30 mins to The Lost Gardens of Heligan, Mevagissey. Off season roads though, I imagine traffic is a different story in summer. All in all a great place to spend New Year. Thank you to the owner of this gorgeous home from home.

The property

This fabulous wow-factor church conversion sits in tranquil Lostwithiel town and boasts beautifully styled accommodation combining contemporary and original features to create a stunning, well presented quality retreat.

Enter through the big wooden arched doors into the porch, through to the smart high-gloss kitchen with dining area and generous table for big food feasts and social gatherings.

Original stain glass windows, parquet wood flooring, attractive vaulted ceiling open to the glass balustrade mezzanine first floor add to the decadence.

There are two welcoming ground floor bedrooms; one with a king-size bed and the other a double with TV, both with comfort guaranteed.

The family bathroom is pristine and the utility room houses the additional appliances.

Stairs to the first floor open out to a magnificent airy space, the sitting room with glass balustrade and a wealth of comfy sofas, a spot to simply relax with a glass of wine, and a cosy hug around the wood burner during cooler months.

The third bedroom has a king-size bed and contemporary en-suite shower room.

The space continues with an enclosed side garden, lit and pretty with a heater for extra warmth and evening tipples, and paved with large bench and tables for alfresco nibbles, with lawn for children and pets to play.

St Saviours Church nuzzles in Lostwithiel, an ancient town famed for antiques and quirky shops, restaurants and traditional inns, all within a short walk.

Perfectly positioned for exploring this superb area and beyond, the country rail station takes you to the resorts of Penzance, St Ives, Falmouth, Newquay and Fowey with excellent beaches, harbours, good surf, gorgeous seascapes from a coast path ramble and a myriad of waterside dining opportunities.

For inland fun, discover National Trust Lanhydrock House with gardens and woodland estate, Restormel Castle with 13th Century keep aside the River Fowey, or famed Eden Project.

After a day of fun and adventure, family, friends and couples will enjoy returning to St Saviours Church, a truly unique holiday home-stay.

About the location

LOSTWITHIEL

Bodmin 5.5 miles; Fowey 7 miles.

A delightfully peaceful country town, nestling in the Fowey river valley amid the woods and fields that characterise the area. Renowned as a centre for the antiques trade, there are several shops and dealers in the town, as well as a fine collection of country pubs, restaurants and a thriving farmer’s market. Lanhydrock House (NT) and gardens is just 3 miles away, while the fabulous Boconnoc House, Eden Project, shipwreck museum and tall ships harbour at Charlestown, and the picturesque fishing villages of Mevagissey, Fowey and Padstow, with the famous Rick Stein restaurants, are all within easy driving distance. The tumbling Atlantic surf, long sandy beaches and dramatic coastline of the north coast, including at the renowned Newquay, make for great days out and there is also chance to enjoy river canoeing, biking, hiking and leisurely walks in this lovely area. The friendly locals also have ongoing activities, such as the raft race, the famous tug of war, Carnival week and seagull outboard motor races. The river Fowey runs from the town on its 8 mile journey through the fields and wooded valleys to the gentler southern coast, a natural paradise for those who love the sea. Centrally placed, with much to do and see in the immediate area, Lostwithiel is the perfect choice for those seeking a break away from the hectic pace of the tourist resorts.
