  • "What's not to like about this property."

The location is stunning. Short walk to what is now my favourite beach in the UK- Lusty Glaze. Loads of other local beaches if this doesn't tick your boxes. Easy access to Newquay town with lots of local amenities nearby (Francines fish and chips was brilliant). The apartment itself has everything you need for a lovely, relaxing holiday. All the room are well fitted out and very comfortable. Everything you could possibly want in the kitchen for a self catering holiday. Great outdoor space for an al fresco dinner. The owner was fantastic. We had an issue when we got there (beds were kitted out differently to how we had expected). I contacted him and he sorted it out that evening- no issues whatsoever. I would recommend this property to anyone looking for a great beach holiday.

Dear David, Thank you for your stay, I do hope you will be back. Lusty Glaze Beach has consistently won many awards and as you say the location of Saltwater is pretty hard to beat for Newquay and Cornwall generally. I like to think I have kitted out the apartment to a high standard so it’s good to know I achieved that. Thank you James Property Owner

  • "Accomodation was well presented with plenty of space to relax in."

Facilities well provided for cooking and nice spacious bathrooms. Good amount of patio space and well situated to walks either into town or down the coast. Nearby lusty glaze beach and Porth a great walk down the scenic coast. Convenient for a Tesco express, bakery, chip shop all within half a mile with decent restaurants within walking distance in the town. The location doesn't suffer from any of Newquays 'revellers' even with the Boardmasters festival in full swing during our stay. Overall lovely accomodation and brilliantly situated. You could easily base yourself there and never need the car. Having said that you're within an hour of any of Cornwall's attractions. We had mixed weather but the apartment served us perfectly for all activities. Parking very conveniently directly outside. The owner was great, and has ensured there's support if needed. This wasn't required but good to have. Fully recommended and hope to stay again.

Dear Howard, Thank you for your stay I would love to have you back. The Patio is the largest on the development and you’re so right about the location. Its minutes walk from all you want yet not in the centre of town. Thanks for your fulsome review ! James Property Owner

Excellent location, near to the beach and amenities of Newquay. General cleanliness of property very good but need to clean windows( around frame, very dirty!), also main bi-fold door had to use wd-40 as was sticking, much better once oiled. Property should be ready by 3pm as advertised!! In this hot weather, fans would have been nice in each room! Parking was not an issue, even though we had two vehicles. Overall, a very enjoyable and excellent stay. Highly recommended!

Dear Stephen, I will get windows looked at they are cleaned regularly but being so close to the beach the wind drives in the sand and salt. I will request housekeeping to spray WD-40 on their to do list. Thankyou so much for your stay, it’s a great location for exploring Best wishes James Property Owner

  • "Wow from start to finish everything was perfect."

I asked James for some advice as we had two disabled parents with us, he took the time and effort to suggest disabled friendly restaurants and activities which we very much appreciated and it made our stay so much smoother. The accommodation is all on the ground floor with three bedrooms one en suite with a walk in shower and one family bathroom, it suited our elderly parents and there was no problem moving around the flat. The patio area was also accessible and we watched some beautiful sunsets from there. The accommodation was spotless and the kitchen was very well equipped with everything you might need for your stay. The location was excellent with many amenities within walking distance such as a Tesco, bakery, fish and chips shop, tea room and a delicious Thai truck across the road. The beaches in Newquay are stunning and we found our location central to everywhere we wanted to go in Cornwall. We would definitely stay again and having a helpful and responsive owner gave us peace of mind.

The only disappointment we had was that we could not see out of the windows so cleaned the patio ones ourselves. Fortunately the day before we left a window cleaner appeared.

Dear Barry, I'm not completely sure I fully understand your damages piece, but if say I had to charge you for damage, it would either be rectified or replaced and I would advise the next guest as soon as I'm aware. Practically this is not until you/prior guest has checked out, on the check out day, so its tricky being able to inform the future guest of any issues before the prior guest checks out. I will look at increasing the Window Clean frequency and am grateful for your feed back in this regard. Glad you had a comfortable stay James Property Owner

We also spent some time looking for the wifi codes, and eventually had to phone James (the owner). He was very helpful, but surely it would be sensible to include this in the welcome pack (and also clear info on how to access the bins). However, it was a very smart and comfortable apartment, and it worked well as the base for our daughter's wedding, including the hair and make-up for her and bridesmaids in the morning. We do not blame Sykes Cottages for the distinctly Cornish weather!

The quilt for me was far too heavy I'm used to a 1.5 tog duvet, I slept on top of the bed, no duvet very comfortable. Some white wine glasses and flutes would have been nice. As I said these are very minor niggles not complaints, the two problems were the sun loungers were locked in the outside chests although the combination was set on open the locks had rusted shut, also the cleanliness of the walk-in shower was not good, dirty floor pan and hair blocking the drain, not ours as my hair is very short and my wife has alopecia arearta and is completely bald. The apartment is beautifully presented and very clean. The whole locality is beautifully maintained, clean and there were lifeguards on every beach we visited. Our grandson is too young for surfing but there were shallow areas, rock pools and acres of sand. Even at the height of the season it is possible to be away from the crowds by choosing a beach a bit further from the centre ( still walking distance) There is a Tesco Express a very short walk away and the town centre itself is not far, in other words you can leave the car and easily access bars, restaurants, beaches and other amenities giving the opportunity to have a very relaxing holiday. There is one parking space and we easily found somewhere for our group's second car in a near by street and again only a couple of minutes walk. The beds are roomy and very comfortable. There are 2 bathrooms and one has a bath as well as a shower. There are all the conveniences of home with laundry facilities, dishwasher, microwave etc and even a coffee machine-bliss! There are even chargeable torches. Younger members particularly enjoyed the number of TV's ( one in each bedroom as well as the lounge) - especially our grandson who is not used to having his own TV. There are also a few books and games etc The apartment is new so the decor and furnishings were all tip top and a lot of thought has gone into providing everything you might need for comfort and enjoying a holiday. We were on the ground floor and the outlook is towards the sea with no buildings in between - the view is mainly sky and garden and a bit of the coast/sea being on the ground floor. There is a lovely patio to sit out as well as access to communal grass and garden in front- this was great for the six year old with us - supervision is needed as the site is fairly open. Again all the patio furniture you might need is provided. In addition there was so much thought, kindness and warm welcome from the owner by providing some toiletries, tea, coffee, milk and biscuits as well as bedding and towels etc James- thank you, we had a lovely memorable week.
