  • "Our first experience of ‘cottage’ living after having to give up a touring caravan."

Generally pleasantly surprised. Could do with a new shower, takes a long while to get hot (waste of water) and when it does it’s not very powerful. Setees could do with some new upholstery. Well equipped with everything you would have at home. Location a bit out on a limb if you want to use the cottage as a base for touring the area.

  • "Very well equipped house, in surprisingly quiet surroundings."

The walk to a beach is more like 55 minutes, rather than the 15 minutes we had been told.

  • "Cottage is well stocked with pots, pans and local maps and guide books."

All was incredibly clean on arrival. The patio view from the patio is less inviting than the pictures make it look as it is more enclosed by other adjacent units, but the overall setting within Pendra Loweth holiday cottages is very attractive. Having the cafe nearby, with its bar and restaurant, was useful, though the menu is limited. My main reservation with this location is that it is not safe or practical to walk to the nearby beach at Maenporth given narrowness of the road and lack of any path or even hard shoulder for pedestrians. Similarly, the walk to Falmouth is also unsafe and quite long (45 min). This meant we had to drive everywhere, and, since the parking lot at Maenporth fills up, made it less advantageous of a location than we had thought. This was not clear on booking and could be made more so in the description. Otherwise, we were very happy with the cottage which was indeed a great base from which to explore the beautiful area. The tips on local restaurants in the book at the cottage were much appreciated.

A well appointed cottage. Lovely to have a decent patio set with sun shade. The restaurant on site is good. The area is close to beaches and Falmouth, with access to all of Cornwall on the doorstep. Highly impressed.

nice touches of welcome to the cottage to get you started. Did not appreciate the numerous e mails from Sykes Cottages telling us how to clean and leave the property. It goes without saying how we would leave the property as found. This is nothing to do with the owner.

Finding fresh fruit on the table was positive. Music, DVD's, board games, BBQ all perfect for a holiday home. All the everyday essentials were there. We even wanted to add to the DVD collection, so we left Iron Man & Goonies behind. Property was very clean just a shame we didnt have better weather to make use of the garden as that was great too. Overall feel of the site is family friendly and well kept. Tennis courts are decent, we brought our own rackets and balls. Trip in to Falmouth by taxi is £7.50 / £8 each way. Parking in Falmouth is around £8 a day.

  • "Crabapple cottage was a delight, and this development had the feel of a beautifully landscaped fairy land; almost unreal !"

Huge effort had been made to satisfy every need and we settled in without any difficulty.Loads of extras were provided; a really nice touch. The nearby sandy beach of Maenporth was equally pleasing and provided an ideal location for a traditional day out at the seaside. Our only question arose from the fact that Sykes Central Command seemed a little out of touch with the property's situation. When asked about equipment and materials we needed to provide the response insisted that we take a whole range of "stuff" to help avoid the possibility of Covid 19 infection.[washing powder, washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets, kitchen towels, toilet paper oven gloves, etc. ] In fact the car load we brought with us was entirely unnecessary as, along with a welcome pack, everything was already in place ! Also, the cottage had its own WiFi, which we were told was not available. However, the quality and extraordinary range of facilities in the cottage made our stay extremely comfortable. Not even the G7 conference restrictions could spoil this holiday. We had a great time and will come again. Thank you !!

  • "You will need to refer back to emails from me to understand this feedback."

You repeatedly failed to answer my questions and failed to address my concerns regarding this re-scheduled holiday. In our last contact I was promised a telephone call from a manager, but that call never came. In the end I simply gave up trying out of frustration. I understand that the problems with Covid 19 would have put great strain on your resources, but even allowing for that I felt I was treated very dismissively. Unfortunately we will not use Sykes again. On the other hand the cottage was very comfortable and we were very satisfied with the cleanliness of the property and all the measures put in place by the cottage owner and the cleaning company to combat Covid 19. Nevertheless, we, of course, continued to maintain our own hygiene routines throughout our stay at the cottage in order to protect ourselves, the cleaning staff and future guests.

Thank you for taking the time to send in your feedback regarding your recent holiday with us. It has been a very busy time but we are very disappointed that you did not receive the service expected. We are however, very pleased that you found the cottage to be very comfortable and the cleanliness good. We do take your points very seriously and continue to monitor our service. We do hope you will give us a chance to regain your trust in our service and book with us in the future. Property Owner

  • "We had figured on a holiday to Cornwall for a wee while, mainly for the coastal walks, the food and the nature."

So with just a little planning Falmouth seemed like a sensible base and a cottage had the nod over a guest house. We are so glad of our choice. Crabapple cottage is a gem, spotlessly clean, brimming with accessories, a real home from home. The level of detail the hosts have considered for guests Is exceptional. A special mention has to be the grounds it sits within. Pendra Loweth is a wonderful holiday village. The cottages are extremely well looked after, the gardens are beautifully tended. There is a real sense of privacy without feeling isolated. Scenic, natural and totally idyllic. This was a great base for us to take in some sightseeing. We took in walks at lizard point, Kynance Cove and Mullion. The scenery is breathtaking. Mevvagisey, Newquay, St Agnes and Falmouth proved to be great days out too. Crabapple cottage was always a welcome haven to return to. Many thanks for a great stay and will definitely be recommending to family and friends.

There is a reference in the guest book from c.18 months ago to it needing replacing but clearly it hasn't been replaced. It almost landed on the foot of one of our party who is recovering from a broken toe. Such a minor job too - 20 minutes and £10. The front door lock mechanism also needs replacing as it is very difficult to lock and unlock the front door. Otherwise, all really enjoyable.

It is very nicely furnished, very comfortable and clean and in a very good location. The owner had left tulips and fresh fruit which were very nice touches. From the moment we entered and saw the fruit and beautifully thought out hospitality tray we relaxed. The cottage was spotless and had good quality linen and super thick towels that made things just that bit more special. It is well situated for visiting the beach at Maenporth and Swanpool and has easy access into Falmouth. Brilliant local eateries also made for an easy catering week...no cooking! However the kitchen in the coattge had everything you could think of to make meals....even recipe books. Beds were comfortable and the TV and Wifi reception good...what more could you want from a week away (and the weather wasn't too bad either). We hope to return for another week in the near future. Thank you!
