"This is the second time we have stayed in Rivendell and really like it and will definitely come again but there were a few minor issues, the extractor can in the downstairs toilet wasn't working and the pull cord for the heated towel rail has snapped off at the top ,the kitchen blind wouldn't come down ,there were lots of ants in the kitchen and at the side of one of the sofas and the duvet on the bed in the ensuite bedroom only just fitted on top of the mattress so was not big enough."
I'm sure all of these issues can be easily sorted
Thank you for flagging these issues to us; we have already taken action to tackle all of the points raised and hope this gives confidence for you to return. Property Owner
"A hair dryer would be a great addition as would a dishwasher, plenty of space to add one, so many cupboards that are not needed."
I really missed one as washing up is a chore whilst on holiday. Showers were great, had read comments about lack of hot water and I can confirm this was not an issue at all so this must have been rectified.
Thank you for your feedback and confirming the hot water issues have been resolved. We have contemplated adding a dishwasher but have noted other owners experience many problems with them in rental properties. Property Owner
"This was my second time staying at Rivendell and it was very lovely."
The cottage is very clean and ensures we are equipped for the week. However, the hot water was a big issue for us. We were not able to have a warm shower or wash dishes with hot water for the week we were staying in the cottage. Luckily we live near by so we had to keep popping back to are own property for are own personal hygiene. This was not ideal. When I have previously stayed at Rivendell we were welcomed with a guest book where we could find contact numbers, WiFi passwords and any information we needed to know during are stay. However this was nowhere in sight this time. Therefore unfortunately we were unable to contact owners to inform them of this problem. Multiple calls to Pendra Loweth reception were made however it rang straight to voicemail and nobody intended to get back to us with the voice message I left. Apart from this, the cottage is lovely to stay in. Just wanted to make owners aware that something is wrong with hot water. Will definitely consider staying again.
"We've stayed at many properties at Pendra since it was redeveloped in 2000/2001, Rivendell compares very favourably with the best."
However, in common with every other property we've stayed in, Rivendell urgently needs to sort out its hot water provision. For a house designed to accomodate 6 people, the hot water ran out after just two showers. The immersion heater controller is newish but the instructions refer to the original controller, so are useless. The basic problem relates to the fact that the primary (lower) immersion heater has been disconnected (by cutting the cable) from the original Economy 7 supply. The h/w cylinder is therefore only heated via the boost (top) immersion heater which in reality will never manage to heat the 210 litre capacity copper cylinder. The owners would be wise to review this situation as visitors will continue to suffer from totally inadequate hot water, particularly if more than two or three people are staying. I would strongly recommend they consult with a reputable (experienced) plumber and electrician, as modifications will be limited by the, now outdated, 60amp capacity of the main fuse/incoming electrical supply. I can only guess that the immersion heater capacity has been sacrificed to ensure adequate electrical supply to the wall heaters, two power showers etc. These comments are intended to be constructive and helpful, to hopefully avoid similar complaints from future guests. It is worth noting that the regular failure of immersion heaters on this development has been an ongoing problem, and we've needed to request an electrician whilst staying in other, similar properties on site, no less than three times over the years due to either thermostat or immersion heater failing - but that's another story! Overall, we would happily return to, or recommend Rivendell, but the hot water supply really does need sorting. Regards Ron Smith
Thank you for your feedback which has helped give us some specific avenues to explore with regards to improving the hot water supply. We will be undertaking work to ensure guests do not have a similar experience in future. We hope your stay was otherwise enjoyable. Best regards, Sam Property Owner
"Rivendell truly is a truly special home."
It is set in a very peaceful and lovely location just outside Falmouth. Its every room is perfect and faultless, very tastefully decorated with everything you could possibally wish for. To the side of the house is the most wonderful stream with a fairy tale bridge to one side and a fabulous waterfall right opposite the front of the house. Parking is a peace of cake too right outside the door. Each and every bedroom is wonderful with very comfortable beds and warm duvets, and the bathrooms are brilliant! The heating is perfect and there is also a tv in the master bedroom as well as in the main living room. The kitchen is huge with more plug sockets than you could imagine. There was even a large stash of Cornish coffee and Cornish "Smugglers Brew" tea plus a fresh pint of milk left for us on our arrival. A huge shout out to Sam the owner who rang to ask how things were and also to Kay's housekeeping service who made sure the house was absolutely perfect on and during our stay there Cannot recommend Rivendell enough. We will definately be back in the Spring.
"We had a lovely holiday in the cottage in a good position to explore Cornwall home from home"
"The house was beautiful, beautifully decorated, spacious, comfortable and just felt perfect!"
We loved it. Maen Valley Park is a lovely holiday village. It was perfect!
"Beautiful house in a perfect location to explore local beaches or a little further!"
Really well presented house with everything that you could need!
"Beautifully decorated and furnished holiday cottage with comfortable sofa and beds in nice quiet location."
Only 10 mins drive to Falmouth, its shops, many restaurants and close to beaches. Great location to explore around Cornwall.
"Downstairs was lovely except for dirty marks on the kitchen cupboards which were easily washed off and quite a few crumbs you could see under one of the sofas."
Upstairs the bedroom with the ensuite didn't have a wardrobe or clothes hanger and the ensuite didn't have a towel rail so no where to dry your towels, all minor things really in a very nice place to stay
"I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Rivendell holiday house."
The house was very clean and welcoming, everything that we needed was supplied and the house was in a very good standard. No feedback needed to improve, this house is perfect! We didn’t want to leave! We will definitely be staying here again!
"We were under the impression that there was a dishwasher in the accommodation but there wasn't!"
Strangely enough there were some dishwasher tablets left for us?? Also, just a minor problem but nearly all the mirrors in the house were too high on the walls. I am 5ft 2" and could not see in any of them...that was a little annoying! Otherwise it was a lovely house and very comfortable.
"The house we stayed in really was flawless."
It is the best accommodation we have ever stayed in. Everything we needed and more was in the house. Would really highly recommend this place for sure.
"A lovely spacious cottage in an idyllic setting, we were 5 adults and we had plenty of room the beds were comfortable, and good showers."
The owner was lovely and really attentive, we had one problem with the lights in the bathroom in which was resolved within 2 hours on a Sunday. Facilities in the nearby reception were good the pool was a plunge pool and suitable for children. This cottage was located within a 20-minute walk to the beach. Plenty to see in the region, Penzance, Truro, Falmouth Harbour, Pendennis Castle, St. Ives and St Mawes harbour and castle. St Mawes we accessed by the car Ferry - King Harry Ferry near Truro, but by foot Falmouth Harbour has regular boats over to St Mawes. Overall we had a wonderful vacation and would look to stay again.
"The cottage was amazing - so roomy, clean and in a lovely holiday village."
There were fresh flowers, fudge and shortbread biscuits left for us. Little post-it notes told us everything we needed to know about the accommodation. There was a garden area outside that was ideal for the children to play - they found some friends in the other cottages. The food in the on-site bar/restaurant was great. We made good use of the gym and the small pool. We had a fantastic holiday and will book again.
"Cottage was perfect."
holiday village was perfect. location was perfect.
"The house is in a beautiful and peaceful location."
House was very clean with everything needed for a great holiday. One slight downside is the mobile phone coverage which was almost non existent. The grounds are very well maintained and the stream by the side of the housed provided a very pleasant ambient sound. We are more than happy with the overall holiday and would be happy to stay there again in the future.
"It was a great base for our holiday although sine updating might need to be done to the property"
Many thanks for letting us know your thoughts. We've taken the time to do some decorating this week in response to your feedback. Property Owner
"For the new season, we thought the kitchen, stairwell and wood paintwork looked tired."
The dreadful mat in lounge, pull of pulls on it and awful to keep clean.
Many thanks for taking the time to leave your feedback. We have replaced the rug and have redecorated the stairwell straightaway. Property Owner
"This was our second visit to Pendre Loweth and I am sure it will not be our last as it is a great location and a lovely setting."
The cottage was very comfortable and clean although no hairdryer which was surprising as all of our rentals over the last few years have had one as standard.
"The Cottage is located in a lovely and quiet area and had all the necessary facilities to provide a comfortable stay."
The suggested list of Things to do were very useful and we enjoyed visiting all the sites.
"The week we booked was advertised as a sale but actually the price was increased rather than a lower price."
After speaking with several people at Sykes, I eventually got an email saying that this was an error on your part. I still feel ‘cheated’ by Sykes and it has left a ‘sour’ taste in my mouth that we had to pay the higher amount and no discount or voucher was given as a good will gesture. As to the accommodation itself, one of the toilets had not been cleaned, the sofas were all sticky and the double mattress in the main bedroom was extremely hard and one could feel the springs poking through. Very disappointing.
"We really enjoyed our stay at Rivendell."
The facilities were very good and location was ideal. The only small negative comment I can make on the property was that some aspects could use with some modernisation. All in all it was a great holiday
"Well laid out and comfortable and in a well maintained estate"
"A lovely location and well presented house."
Enjoyable stay and can’t wait to return.
