  • "Was very pleased with the chalet so well equipped and some lovely added touches, ie: milk in the fridge."

The only downside to my stay was the mattresses on the beds could all do with replacing as they killed my back, but despite this would recommend as a good location and can't fault anything else

  • "The property could have been better maintained, the table was really wobbly, we had to tighten the bolts up on it."

There was a really bad draught through the french doors, it was moving the blinds. We were going out one day when the gardener knocked on the French doors and said he needs to do something with them, we had to leave him while we were out, thinking about it after we wish we'd said no, it just din't seem right his being there when we were out. I couldn't get the internet so had to use my phone this didn't have a good signal either, if we'd known we would have bought some DVDs. Our heating packed up one day and someone came out to fix it which they did, if it had been checked it may not have happened. Just a few small changes would have helped to make it better. We've been to the site twice before and it's a good location, so may be back again. I just hope they listen to our reviews.

The furniture and furnishings were very good. It was in a fantastic location. We hope we can come back again next year. Only a couple of things (and hope you don't feel criticised). There was no tin opener - we bought one and took it home to use. Have you thought of recycling? It really went against the grain having to put everything in a black bag. This may not be available in this area. Overall a fantastic week. We loved it.

  • "Excellent location just a few metres from the beach and not too far from Marazion."

Property has a nice open plan kitchen and lounge. A nice back garden with picnic table is south facing so you get the sunshine. Gardener was very busy maintaining lawn and plants late morning and placing ant powder. If you have any issue with ants there is ant powder supplied in kitchen cupboard. Only issue with the property was that some areas hadn't been cleaned for a long time. The plug sockets behind the the bed side tables were very dusty. On the whole though a very nice holiday and I would definitely return.

Thank you for taking the time to complete your feedback. We are glad you enjoyed both the property and its location. The issue of the dusty plug sockets behind the bed side tables will be discussed with the housekeepers. We look forward to welcoming you back at a later date. Property Owner

  • "The overall condition of the cottage was fairly good and we enjoyed our stay."

However, there were some maintenance issues which let it down. Nothing that caused us to make a complaint or call in anyone, but in short... 1. Taps in both the bath and kitchen wobbled about they were so loose. 2. Doors and windows were poorly fitted and blew the blinds even when closed. 3. There didn't seem to be a way to have a bedroom window open for ventilation but keep it locked open safely at the same time, for security. "Luckily" for the above reason, we had enough ventilation as it was. 4. On our last day there was a storm and it got quite cold. We found that despite following the instructions to the letter, we could not get the heating to work whatsoever. Made worse by the windows letting in the occasional gust of wind. We have the same heating controller at home, so couldn't understand this. The hot water was great though and always piping hot. 5. The lock on the front door was "twitchy" and took some clever key-work for it to lock and unlock. 6. Baking trays and other items in the kitchen clearly hadn't been cleaned in some time, with oily marks on them. Not too much of an issue as we mostly ate out. 7. Spider webs in lounge and bedroom suggested the cleaning was not up to much. 8. We felt the fridge was too small for a cottage able to house four people. We were only two and could barely manage to get the essentials all in. Don't get me wrong, we have a high tolerance for minor inconveniences, but you asked for our feedback so here it is. This really was fine for us for a week and not too expensive, but attention to a few little things and it could have been really good.

Thank you for taking the time to complete your feedback and for bringing these points to our attention. The maintenance issues will be dealt with. We are glad that you enjoyed your stay and hope that we might be able to welcome you back again in the not too distant future. Property Owner

  • "Our 3rd visit to this complex and while it was great to have the wifi this time."

..I have to say the properties are looking rather tired - especially the bathroom and kitchen. We spent our first day deep cleaning as it wasn't up to standard - we expect spiders at this time of year but - the property looked as if it hadn't been used for weeks - there was even an item of clothing from a previous guest left down the side of the bedroom furniture. Such a shame as this is a lovely location. Would we use Sykes again - of course, trouble free booking and a smooth customer journey. Would we use this complex again - probably - in a few years - once a refurbishment has taken place to accurately reflect the cost of this self catering property.

  • "The tap is the kitchen hadn’t been mended although it was reported from a previous customer."

The cooker could not be used as there were birds nesting in the cooker hood so we had to go elsewhere to eat which negated the shopping we had bought for our meals. The maintenance guy couldn’t have done his job properly as the birds had nested and almost fledged when we occupied the property. The owner will not recompense us for the two days we were there or for the inconvenience of finding somewhere else to stay. We will definitely not use them ever again.

  • "I must start with the very efficient booking service and information received prior to arrival."

The setting of the property is amazing with fantastic views and the location makes it easy to travel around. Unfortunately our amazement was short lived when we opened the front door. The whole property was filthy dirty! Huge Cobwebs, dusty, sticky surfaces. These weren’t things that had happened over a week or so. When we went to bed we had no lights in the double room, only one of the lamps worked and no working ceiling light. The property is in need of general maintenance… grouting in bathroom, the bath panel has blown and needs replacing, the bath taps move all over the place. The bathroom radiator does not work. The patio doors are very dangerous! With the frame needing fixing! The amount of times we tripped whilst going in and out as the bottom panel isn’t stuck. The top part is also loose making it very difficult to close. I have photography evidence if required. We visit this area at least twice a year and this would be our new go too place. So would love to return but not until these issues have been resolved.

Really enjoyed our stay. Minor problems - taps need tightening. Knifes need sharpening or a knife sharpener in draw. Windows need cleaning - however I understand due to the position of the property this could be a thankless task!!! Winter or summer. Would love to return at some point. Would of liked access to a vacuum cleaner as always look after properties like my own ( holiday or not) Kind regards Karen

Thank you for your feedback, we have passed your comments on in regard to the minor issues, to be resolved. There are so many small things in need of attention. And just the whole feel of the place looks like minimal effort is put in for visitors comfort. All the other properties next door look the same too. Makes it look like it's owned by one person who just wants the income. Issues are: Loose tap and sealant gone around bath so shower leaks thro under bath; Noisy flush; Noisy stiff doors; No washing up liquid; Not super clean particularly kitchen cupboard doors/handles/toaster/microwave high touch areas etc; Markings worn off oven so you can't tell temp or settings; Heating keeps coming on!; Tiny fridge freezer needs defrosting. Our ice creams wouldn't stay frozen; Train line just behind! You're basically spending money on being next to the beach. Doesn't seem worth it. It's too basic for the cost. We hired a private Airbnb last week for less money that was incredibly high standards of care, comfort, cleanliness and amenity. Just had to drive ten mins to the beach. No comparison.

Thank you for your feedback. The fridge has been replaced and the onsite handyman has dealt with the maintenance issues. The properties are currently undergoing an upgrade. Property Owner

Accommodation clean and better than I expected. There were 2 items that I think need addressing. 1. The fridge is very poor - it did not keep the food cold. We effectively went shopping on a daily basis. 2. The oven did not get hot. We managed by having barbecues, but if it was a different time of year this would have been a problem. We still had a great holiday and likely to return.

Thank you for taking the time to send in your feedback. We are able to confirm that the fridge has now been replaced and the onsite handyman has dealt with the maintenance issues. We are pleased to be able to advise that the properties are all currently part of an upgrade process. Property Owner

  • "The property is in a state of disrepair."

Cannot believe that in over 12 months since a review highlighting the issue that the bathroom sink plug didn't work and toilet seat loose they have still not been repaired. Our big issue was that despite covid restrictions and the need for extra precautions only one bed had a mattress protector and only one pillow out of 4 had a protector. Neither duvet had protectors. Dishwasher didn't work properly. Puts into question how deep the clean was between bookings. Would not recommend anyone to book this property unless serious refurbishment is carried out.

Thank you for your feedback, we apologise that you encountered these issues during your stay. We have now employed a professional housekeeping management team for Seashells, who will ensure excellent standards of cleanliness for all our guests in the future. This was the same in the toilet, it was filthy we had to clean faeces from the seat. We did not appreciate having to clean after a long journey and no vacuum cleaner. Latch on the bathroom window was broken as mentioned in a previous review and no oven gloves. The private patio area was anything but private with other people walking through it, not the coastal path walkers other guests were walking between the door and the patio table! One of the single beds was also in very poor condition and sunk in the middle it was only evident once I tried it after my daughter complained to me about it. • "Having had an issue with cleanliness at these properties previously I specifically enquired before booking on availability of hoover, mop, dustpan & brush as have previously had to fully clean a neighbouring property (same group) on arrival, I had been assured the housekeeping would be improved & prior to this booking the facilities provided."

On arrival the property was filthy, sticky floor, grit & sand all over floor, grit on one bed. (I have photos If you wish) Unsatisfactory in itself (especially as a repeat incedent) but to then find no cleaning facilities...unnacceptable. On reading the in property info it was found these items would only be available 2 times a week from ‘the shed’. On complaint through Sykes contact was made with the house keeper to deliver a hoover....24hrs later (muddy Hoover left on top of our slippers). Having 2 young children it is expected that a property is sufficiently clean to allow them to use toys along the floor in the first place, it would also not be uncommon for spillages to happen & need to be cleared up by us along the way. The property has clearly not had the floor cleaned for some time, & even though, at our own cost we went & bought mop & bucket to clean (unacceptable) I could still not get it to the level where I was comfortable allowing them bare foot. I now have 2 sets of ruined suede slippers from the dirt picked up! The table cloth also was so dirty when I wiped a dishcloth to clean it the cloth was black! I have removed it & left in the cupboard as I would not let my children eat off it. Suffice to say, it ruined our stay, so much so we left a night early not being able to face a New Year’s Eve sitting on sticky sofas. the overall general standard of the property has also significantly deteriorated from prior visits (neighbouring property) the Windows leaking. I accept these properties are basic, but hygiene level of cleanliness should not be something I have to fight for & I should not have to pack my own hoover! We will not be returning. Feedback is about the property, not the Sykes experience.
