  • "We had a lovely week at Star house."

The house is well appointed, spacious and warm. It is handy for all sorts of little ‘gems’ on the Cornish coast and for long dog walks on the beaches nearby. The view from the balcony is stunning as are the various other views afforded by its situation. We had lots of inclement weather, including a couple of storms but this did not matter at all as it was always nice to return to our cosy base.

The property was lovely and we had everything we needed for our stay. The views from the balcony are spectacular! Marazion was beautiful and a great base for exploring Cornwall. Tamsin and Mark were great hosts and made sure that we still had heating after the power cut caused by the storm. Thank you for the flowers and wine, they were very much appreciated. We will be recommending Star Cottage to our family and friends

From the moment we arrived at the most perfect gift shop to collect keys, everything was outstanding. The house was so beautifully styled and it had everything and more to make our stay wonderful. The views our so unbelievably gorgeous. Waking up to it everyday was so special. The location is perfect - the beach is your back garden, rock pools one side and perfect sandy beach the other side. We had hours of fun. It was the most perfect holiday home we have ever stayed in. Thank you so much. We can’t wait to come back!

The Star House was absolutely beautiful and in the BEST location in the village. We had incredible sea views from most windows and it was an absolute pleasure staying in the house. The beds were all very comfy and my two boys had a blast in the bunk beds. Facilities in the house are 10/10. Tamsin and Matt are brilliant hosts. We cannot fault a thing. I loved the decor in the house. We had some lovely meals too at some of the local restaurants. We didn’t want to leave…. We had bad luck with the Cornwall weather so on the rainy days we felt cosy and happy to relax in the house with games and a book (which we don’t usually do). Thank you once again to the amazing hosts for there wonderful house…. Highly recommend if visiting Marazion!

  • "We stayed here for a week over the May half term and had a truly memorable holiday, blessed by the weather and with the best view anywhere on the British coast from our balcony - the castle even lit up at night to celebrate the birth of a new St Aubyn."

The beach is right by the house and perfect for kids, the sea being sheltered by the Mount, lots of clean sand for digging and rock pools to explore, full of fascinating wildlife - we even found a sea hare! The Mount itself is well worth a visit, both castle and gardens, which aren't visible from the house but are spectacular. You could easily spend a week just enjoying the seaside, but there's plenty to do within a few miles of Marazion - we also visited the seawater lido in Penzance, Land's End and the Eden Project, and took a wildlife spotting boat trip, and still managed plenty of time at the beach. Shame that the council have barred off what would have been the perfect backdoor route to the beach while repairing the quay - although we did crawl under it a couple of times! - but the next entrance is only around the corner, by the Godolphin Hotel. It's a beautiful house with character, incredibly spacious, spotlessly clean, comfortable beds, thoughtfully provided with everything you could possibly need - even a pair of binoculars by the balcony, which was great as we'd forgotten ours, lots of books, and some buckets and spades and a set of boules down in the entrance cubbyholes. We hardly used the living room and just stayed out on the balcony. The view from the middle floor bedroom is also fantastic, not that our computer obsessed teenager took much notice! Great fun to watch people attempting to cross the causeway before it was fully uncovered, boats, seabirds and dogs on the beach (which is dog friendly all months except Jul-Aug, but locals are scrupulous about picking up). The shops next door sell delicious pasties and boxed cream teas (we took one up to the Mount and had a picnic), ice cream and fudge and the gift shop under the house (run by Tamzin and Matt) has a lovely range of souvenirs by local artists. We managed to eat locally almost every night, including a chippy tea, but be warned the queues at the chip shop are tremendous, and you must book in advance at the Cutty Sark restaurant. Marazion is very small (and charming) but gets a high number of tourists because of the Mount. Closing times are also earlier than visitors from big cities might expect! However, the food everywhere was tasty and local with friendly service. If you do want to self-cater, the kitchen is fully applianced, and all the supermarkets are minutes away by car, this side of Penzance. Parking is a slight issue but the long-stay parking has plenty of room and is only 5 minutes' walk away, right by the beach. It costs £50 for a week. There are a couple of spaces in front of the shop for unloading, with a half hour max stay so we managed to nip in there when needed. In all, a perfect holiday, and we would definitely come back here or recommend it to others.

There are beautiful views of St Michael’s Mount from the rear windows. It was great to watch the tides change each day from the balcony. We had a wonderful day at St Michael’s Mount going by boat and returning by the causeway. Star house is very clean and comfortable, everything we needed was supplied. The standard of furnishings is very high including comfy beds and sofas. We arrived to lovely fresh flowers and a bottle of wine on the kitchen table thank you Tamsin. There are local cafes, Restaurants and shops nearby including a Pasty shop. So many places to visit in West Cornwall, we would love to visit again soon.

Our hosts were extremely friendly and full of knowledge about the area, and very kind - we left our toothbrush charger and knowing that we were still in the town Tamsin came and found us to hand it over. Due to the constant changes in Covid travel restrictions, we chose to spend our honeymoon in the U.K. rather than abroad and we were not disappointed. The house is fantastic and the owners had thought of everything to make sure the stay was as enjoyable as possible. We particularly loved the balcony overlooking St Michaels Mount. It was so relaxing to sit there on an evening on warm nights. The only inconvenience to the stay (we thought) would be the parking arrangements (parking in a nearby car park), but it wasn’t at all. It’s actually a nice walk to start/end your day. We loved it so much that we will definitely be back. Very helpful owners, spacious rooms and a wonderful view of St Michael's Mount from the balcony. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will happily revisit. The place was warm and comfortable and we appreciated the gifts left on the table as a welcome. Lovely that the owners have the shop below so we actually got to meet them. The 30 mins parking outside the property is very useful for arrival and departure as the main carpark for Marazion is a short walk away. Thank you for a great holiday in your holiday home. We look forward to visiting again. The only issue we had (which is nothing to do with the holiday accommodation) was that JustPark is a complicated system: their website wouldn't let us book a space before hand and the location number we had been given for the 7 day stay is different from the location one in big numbers on the machine which took us a while to work out. Once we'd cracked that all was fine.

Tamsin & Mat are at hand if anything is wrong or if you have questions as they are in the shop below the flat. There is plenty of room and a lovely little balcony which over looks St Michaels mount. There is an information book in the flat and it has all the information you require with contact numbers and places to go. Last time we stayed the parking was a lot nearer but now Just parks has taken over and you now have to park in the long stay car park which is further down the road. This was our only issue as if we needed the car it is a good 5 minute walk to the car park. You can buy a weekly ticket via their web site for £50 or do what we did and look around their web site as people with large drive ways rent space out for your holiday and this only cost us £45.50.

Prior to arrival we were called by the owner telling us we could get in early which was good as the traffic was light so were arrived in the area sooner than expected. The owners were super friendly and offered to help where they could if we needed it. We picked this place due to the vicinity of the beach and the views and we were not disappointed. We took our dog and due to staying off season he was allowed on the beach. This is something to remember as there are restrictions in the summer time for dogs on the beach. The shop below was lovely and if you book this cottage you get a 10% discount, I can tell you we made the most of that! It is situated in the middle of the village and very close to amenities, I can recommend the Godolphin for food, we ate there Sunday afternoon and the roast was immense. This was a lovely property beautifully decorated and plenty of room we could have stayed there weeks. The bathroom's were lovely and clean my daughter enjoyed the bath and the showers were spacious. We used the woodburner most evenings to add atmosphere and it kicked out plenty of heat, it was easy to use and set up. Our boys absolutely loved the property and want us to build a balcony at home (although replicating the spectacular view of St Michael’s Mount won’t be easy!) The parking was really easy to manage (even over the busy May half-term). After a busy day out, you can relax on the balcony watching the sun go down over the Gem in Cornwall’s crown, St Michael’s Mount, perhaps chill out by the log burner listening to the Bluetooth speaker, or listening for the town clock chiming the hours, or maybe watch a film on the TV. And when the wine runs out, the shop is just next door! We cooked some delicious meals in the well utensiled kitchen but if that’s too much effort you can stroll outside to the Kings Arms in 10 seconds or the Godolphin Hotel in 30 seconds and delicious fish and chips are only one minutes’ walk away if you want to eat out. Star House is both kid and dog friendly with large bright rooms, comfortable large beds and for the children, fantastic bunk beds – and if it’s raining outside, the house is ideal for a superb game of hide and seek. The extremely friendly owners, Matt and Tamsin are always available to help if necessary and we appreciated the welcoming bottle of wine and bunch of daffodils that welcomed us when we arrived. The accommodation itself (in our opinion) would benefit if a microwave oven and more adequate cooking utensils could be provided but this is just mere detail that did not deflect in anyway our fantastic stay. Tamsin & Matt the owners were found as were the locals most friendly and helpful in every way.

  • "We spent Christmas here."

We had a fantastic time, Christmas carols on the square, walks on the beach, fantastic views of village and sea. Wonderful view of St Michael's Mount from the top balcony. Free parking in the winter months, which you don't always get in Cornwall. Will definitely visit this beautiful property again.

  • "Fabulous accommodation and location."

All facilities and food close to hand. Two minor issues. It would be useful if both the shower cubicles had hand rails for support. Due to the size of the cubicles we had difficulty finding a secure hold during showering. We missed not having any wardrobe space.
