  • "Generally well appointed and equipped."

But annoyingly the hob/oven dials could not be read due to wearing away and there was no instruction manual available. This was noticed after office hours so no help could be sought.

  • "On entry we found the front door sticks and is quite difficult to open."

The apartment is quite tatty and the furniture really needs updating. I lost my keys on day 1 and in looking for them lifted bed & chairs to find a filthy dusty mess underneath. We barely slept on the first night due to a noise coming from the overhead ducting in the bedroom and consequently asked to be moved. The location is great but the apartment was far from that standard. The rating is inaccurate save only for the view and we would definitely not stay here again. If I owned it, I would invest a few quid to bring it up to a reasonable standard.

  • "The apartment it self was nice well positoned with a lovelly view and just a few minutes walk from the beach, shops and pub."

The coastal path is easily accessable and there was the added bonus of Wifi available in the apartment, despite being told by Sykes there wasnt any. Parking is good and the directions were spot on. The interior was nice enough but a few little things would make a big difference. For ecample the settee (which was ripped), furniture, tv etc were all dated and need an upgrade. Whilst well appointed with kitchen equipment, crockery and cutlery etc there was a lack of small saucepans. My wife also had to wash a lot of the crockery and cutlery as it was not clean. However, this could be down to the dishwasher. The bathroom looks nice on the website but we found the shower to be a little off putting. It has a grid in the middle for the waste water which is not very nice to look at and the tiles in the shower need a refurb as it makes the shower look dirty. I would have no issue staying here again and with a few little upgrades this apartment would be back to its best.

  • "We would not book this again purely because we would prefer to go somewhere different area wise, it is not a reflection on any part of the holiday."

A modern day problem with this property was its lack of Wifi but not a huge issue for us.

The property

Newquay 4 miles.

This beautiful ground floor apartment overlooks the stunning beach of Mawgan Porth near Watergate Bay, 4 miles east of Newquay.

Superbly located for a couple wanting a special break in luxurious accommodation, this extremely spacious apartment is only yards from a lovely beach.

Parking is in a private allotted space and you will notice an outdoor secure storage unit, ideal for surfboards etc.

From the front of this select apartment complex, you will immediately be drawn to the stunning views which are also visible from both your patio and inside.

The open plan living area is extremely spacious with comfy sofas and a large dining table as well as a well-equipped kitchen and utility room.

A double bedroom and a large impressive shower room with large walk-in shower complete the accommodation.

A patio, right outside the door, provides the ideal spot for breakfast together overlooking the beach, or later in the evening to relax and watch the sun go down.

With access to a private footpath leading down to the beach, this apartment provides the perfect opportunity to spend a day by the water with the convenience of being able to return for meals or drinks at any time.

For that special treat, one of the finest restaurants in Cornwall, at the exclusive Scarlet Hotel, is only a stroll away, or for a more casual evening the Merrymoor Inn opposite the beach, has a good reputation locally for both food and fine local ales.

Being in such a great location you could easily be forgiven for spending your entire holiday in and around the locality, however a walk along the cliff path in either direction will prove to be most rewarding.

Walk east and you will come to the spectacular Bedruthan Steps and west will bring you to the world-renowned Watergate Bay; both destinations offer excellent cafes for well-deserved refreshments!

With such quality accommodation in such a fantastic location, a holiday or short break here will be one you will always remember.
