  • "Friendly owner."

Very clean. It is a lovely quiet location, only 15 minutes walk from the beach and coastal path. It's also on a bus route between Falmouth and Helston, which we found very useful. You can walk the coastal path in either direction and get the bus back. It would have been nice to have more outside space, but the little patio (at the front) does get the evening sun. On the downside, the decor and carpets looked rather tired and dated. It is a very pretty and cosy little cottage, that would really benefit from updating the kitchen, bathroom, carpets and decoration. Having said that, we still really enjoyed our time at the cottage.

  • "Very well equipped cottage, very quiet area."

Nice short walk to a lovely beach but the local shop is expensive. You need a car to get to a decent pub/ restaurant, wouldn’t recommend the local.

  • "Brilliant location , so peaceful and quiet , yet close enough to all main attractions , extremely well equipped home with more kitchen utensils then we probably own ourselves haha so plenty of facilities to cook for yourselves."

Extremely clean on arrival , nice layout , no complaints at all one of the best equipt staycations we’ve been to so far. ONLY suggestion would be for a long mirror to be located within bedrooms as a young person you sometimes want to check your outfit before heading out etc, there were mirrors in the rooms but a full length would be a great finish touch, thanks for letting us stay we shall certainly be back

Hourly, and extremely timely, bus service to Falmouth. Great for quiet break and close enough to get around the area if looking for things to do . Nice restuarant and pub about 10 minutes by car/ cab. Would definitely go back if staying in same area again.

Still disappointed that the original cottage we had booked was suddenly removed after we had paid in full and at such short notice, cannot understand how this is allowed to happen

  • "Would've been better if we had been able to adjust the heating ourselves as the evenings were quite chilly."

    All other aspects were good.

Thank you for taking the time to leave feedback. The heating can be adjusted from the property by using the temperature dial on the system and I will speak with the housekeeper to make sure the instructions for this are more prominently displayed. I am glad you enjoyed your stay at Nanparra Cottage and would look forward to welcoming you back. Property Owner

  • "The cottage was comfy, clean and well eqipped, with good quality appliances."

A bonus was the fact despite its relatively quiet location it lies on an excellent bus route between Falmouth and Helford Passage. You could actually holiday there without a car. Why the owners and Sykes Cottages don't advertise this facility I don't know. What I didn't like was the fact that the heating system can't be controlled from within the cottage, but only by the owners. In other words, every time you want to alter the temperature you have to contact them.

Thank you for taking the time for leaving your feedback and we are delighted to hear that you enjoyed Nanparra Cottage and the local area. While the heating can be controlled externally, it can also be adjusted easily using the dial inside the cottage, so no need to request this with the owners. Property Owner

That view is 15 mins walk through a path to sea. Cottage was comfortable, quiet and just right.

  • "We weren't sure if the area at the back of the house was part of this property and therefore accessible?"

Also the property sadly had a strong damp smell, especially on walking in downstairs. Otherwise it was well equipped (though lacked a full length mirror), tastefully decorated and generally cosy. Had off road parking which was welcomed and essential. A short walk from Mawnan Smith and the red lion pub. Also 20 min walk from Maenporth beach. Not too much else nearby we found.

The rear of the property isn't detailed on the listing and is not accessible for guests. The owner will consider adding a full length mirror for 2020. There was a leak in the boiler housed in the garage during the season which was fixed but left a smell which has now dissipated. Property Owner

  • "This cottage failed too meet expectations."

as we had a eight mile diversion to find the place due to the road closure only 50 yards from the cottage. there was no garden just a small patio at the front door. parking was very awkward. drying facilities a 2ft 6 in wide gap at the back of the cottage with rock faced wall and a clothes line . lack of information for services and history of the cottage

Thank you for your feedback, we are very sorry to hear you were disappointed on this occasion. The emergency roadworks nearby were clearly an inconvenience and we apologise this wasn't communicated to you. We'd like to reassure future guests that this work has now been completed and we will endeavour in future to keep guests updated should there ever be a future recurrence. We hope that despite this, you managed to enjoy your time in Cornwall and hope to see you again. Property Owner

  • "A heads-up about the road works 50 yards away would have been nice - our shortest access to Falmouth was cut off due to the diversion."

Don't be so cheap with the toilet paper - a spare roll would have been useful.

Thank you very much for your comments, we're very pleased to hear you had a good holiday and enjoyed your stay. We're sorry you weren't advised about the emergency roadworks, which began at short notice. We apologise for this oversight and hope it didn't present a large inconvenience to you. Property Owner

  • "We did have an enjoyable week in spite of a very disappointing first impression, but it took some determination and positive thinking."

There were roadworks 100 metres awsy, a bit of a sell( turned out from the oil central heating,) , and the beds were very very hard. One of the single beds was slightly softer than the double so I used that. Keeping windows open and the door to the boiler room shut dealt with the smell, but allowed in the noise! So the workmen turned up at 7.30 am Monday to Friday, starting the diggers or other machinery just before 8am. The roadside front sitting area was the only outside space, but imposible to use in the day. It was nice at the weekend and after 5pm, so we just had to get out during the day. We did like some attractions nearby, especially Trebah Gardens and Helford Pasdage and luckily the weather was ok. The roadworks are due to finish by the end of September, so that will probably be ok but I think it was wrong not to warn us or give a discount.

Thank you for taking the time to comment. Overall we're very pleased that you had an enjoyable week but so sorry that you were disturbed by the nearby roadworks. These sprung up unexpectedly at extremely short notice in order to repair a collapsed duct. We apologise for the inconvenience this caused you. Property Owner

The cottage was immaculate. Set in a lovely peaceful location, yet close to all the local amenities. The kitchen was wonderful. Equipped with everything you could possibly need. Including a very good knife block with SHARP cooking knives! Halilieuah! Wonderful, cozy accommodation with all the convenience of home and more. An absolute credit to the owners, whom I hope get to read this review. We will undoubtedly be booking again, (as my sister in law lives in Falmouth), and look forward very much to our next visit.
