"The cottage is probably one of the best we have stayed in, the cooking equipement is well stocked and of a decent standard, the towels and bedding were all of excellent quality."
Our only suggestion is that the owner maybe provide at least some information regarding the local area. We could have done with a map of the local foot paths, the bus timetables and shop opening hours.
"Firstly couldn't get tv to work."
Owner not helpful on phone so we sorted ourselves. Clean, comfortable and well furnished but no salt, pepper, oil, milk, coffee, tea or any other welcome pack. Also no folder with info about area and no visitor book. These are things we have, maybe wrongly, have come to expect. Also garden furniture in storage so we had to assemble outside. Made visit seem very impersonal and not what we have experienced before.
"The cottage was clean and tidy when we got there."
The only 2 things that let it down was the musty smell inside the cottage, you could smell it as soon as you opened the cottage door. The other thing that let it down was there wasn't a welcome package (bottle of milk, teabags, biscutes etc) which we have received in all other cottages that we have stayed and would have been gratefully received after travelling for 6 hrs. Good location for exploring the different places around Cornwall and lots of happy memories made.
"The cottage was fabulous - comfortable, clean, well stocked."
There was just one problem. When we arrived only 3 of the 4 beds were made up. We booked this cottage particularly because it had 4 beds for the 4 people in our party, but the owner assumed that 2 of our party would be happy to bunk up together and was rather grumpy when we rang to enquire about extra bedding. He suggested we should have told him in advance that we needed all 4 beds. He may even have been after extra money - which was surprising as the cottage was expensive and the beds were photographed as being made up and available. Luckily the cleaner, who lives next door, was friendly and made up the 4th bed in no time.
"The cottage is in a lovely location."
It was very well equipped, comfortable and spotlessly clean. We have no reservation about recommending it as a base for touring the area.
"The cottage was in lovely peaceful hamlet, ten minutes walk to Maenporth beach."
There was a patio set which you coukd take out and sit in front of the house and although it fronted the road there wasn much traffic and the sunsets were fantastic. Would have been nice to have a pint of milk and some tea bags after a long drive and with the local shop closed. This is the first property that hasn't done that. Also, if being picky a welcome booklet rather than pinning laminated sheets on the toilet door.
"Excellent property in a very quiet and peaceful location."
The property had everything that you would need for a nice quiet holiday, and it is very well equipped. Both my wife and I found the bed extremely comfortable and we had some good days out away from the cottage, even in the biblical rain that we had on two of the days!!! Thanks, we will look to return in the future. Jane and Simon
"Our third visit to Nanparra which says volumes."
We always find new things to do and thoroughly enjoy visiting a lovely part of Cornwall even if wet . This time it was very wet but didn't stop our enjoyment at all. Very comfortable as well equipped cottage. DVD player not mentioned in listing details so do take your favourites for nights in. Word of caution about the pub in Mawnan Smith. We decided to wander up one evening arriving by eight to find it had already closed ! Seems if they are quiet they close at whatever time suits them as had driven past returning to Nanparra after days out at similar times to also find lights out . Very likely to return to the cottage again.
Thank you for your feedback, we are so glad to hear you enjoyed your stay. We are sorry to hear about the pub and it's reduced opening hours and hope this did not effect your stay too much. We hope to see you again soon. Property Owner
"A lovely stay at nanparra cottage beds comfortable and a kitchen that was well equipped with everything you need."
Big bath sheets provided and hand towels. I would highly recommend this cottage if you are looking for a quite location not far away from Falmouth. There is a pub and a shop in the village Asda is not far away. I would stay at this cottage again.
"The beds were pretty firm but otherwise we found the property to be an ideal location and comfort for what we were looking for."
It was beautifully warm on every evening when we returned from cold endeavours. The initial directions were somewhat confusing and it took us a while to find the cottage along the road. An approximate distance from the village shop would have been most helpful! Otherwise we had a fantastic time and would recommend a stay in Nanparra. We’d also recommend a fantastic eaterie in Falmouth: The Wilder Kitchen at 48 Church St and also, Dark Pony Coffee outside the bus station. Superb Flat Whites!
"Another lovely holiday at Nanparra with great walks and some excellent restaurants within easy reach."
It is a wonderful 15 minute walk down to Maenporth Beach via a quiet path very close to the cottage and the breakfast rolls at the cafe are superb. These set you up perfectly for continuing to walk along the coastal path to Falmouth and back again (if you are energetic enough ) . Alternatively catch the bus back to Mawnan Smith from Falmouth town centre. This passes the cottage and if you ask the driver nicely it will stop within yards of the front door.
"Nanparra is a lovely comfortable cottage in a quiet location, and a short (uphill) walk to the village store - and more importantly the Red Lion pub!"
- in Mawnan Smith. There are a myriad of footpaths close to the cottage. One of which takes you to Maenporth beach - a 15 minute stroll away. It is a pity that there is not an information book available in the property as it would be useful for those not as familiar with the area as we are. We were lucky to have experienced gorgeous weather during our stay at Nanparra, and much appreciated the outside seating on the terrace. Not sure why no mention is made in the property description of the downstairs loo... a very useful addition!
Thank you for taking the time to leave feedback. We have added the downstair toilet to the property summary. So pleased the weather was kind for you,we hope to be able to welcome you back soon. Property Owner
"The setting was really nice, but you definitely need a car to travel to nearest pub / shop etc."
The roads are very winding and are not lit at night and you need to know which direction to take. The cottage we felt needed double electrical sockets and better lighting in the bedrooms and maybe updating in the kitchen area. Downstairs toilet was a bonus, but a very roomy cottage and peaceful.

Cottage really comfortable Mattress really uncomfortable extremely hard on double bèd feel this needs replacing Thank you
Thank your feedback. We haven't received any previous comments regarding the mattress being uncomfortable. As beds are a matter of preference, it maybe that the mattress was slightly firmer than you might be used to in your own home. We will however, ensure that the mattress is checked over. "Lovely cottage with beautiful walks to both coast and countryside."
Very clean. It is a lovely quiet location, only 15 minutes walk from the beach and coastal path. It's also on a bus route between Falmouth and Helston, which we found very useful. You can walk the coastal path in either direction and get the bus back. It would have been nice to have more outside space, but the little patio (at the front) does get the evening sun. On the downside, the decor and carpets looked rather tired and dated. It is a very pretty and cosy little cottage, that would really benefit from updating the kitchen, bathroom, carpets and decoration. Having said that, we still really enjoyed our time at the cottage.
"It's a really nice place to stay and lots of beaches around no far if you drive."
"Very well equipped cottage, very quiet area."
Nice short walk to a lovely beach but the local shop is expensive. You need a car to get to a decent pub/ restaurant, wouldn’t recommend the local.
"Brilliant location , so peaceful and quiet , yet close enough to all main attractions , extremely well equipped home with more kitchen utensils then we probably own ourselves haha so plenty of facilities to cook for yourselves."
Extremely clean on arrival , nice layout , no complaints at all one of the best equipt staycations we’ve been to so far. ONLY suggestion would be for a long mirror to be located within bedrooms as a young person you sometimes want to check your outfit before heading out etc, there were mirrors in the rooms but a full length would be a great finish touch, thanks for letting us stay we shall certainly be back
"Very nice cottage in small hamlet less than 10 minutes walk from local village."
Hourly, and extremely timely, bus service to Falmouth. Great for quiet break and close enough to get around the area if looking for things to do . Nice restuarant and pub about 10 minutes by car/ cab. Would definitely go back if staying in same area again.
"Nanparra Cottage was very comfortable, clean and well presented,it provided a good base from which to visit many areas."
Still disappointed that the original cottage we had booked was suddenly removed after we had paid in full and at such short notice, cannot understand how this is allowed to happen
"A warm cosy clean and well equipped cottage."
Location beautiful but do need car.
"Would've been better if we had been able to adjust the heating ourselves as the evenings were quite chilly."
All other aspects were good.
Thank you for taking the time to leave feedback. The heating can be adjusted from the property by using the temperature dial on the system and I will speak with the housekeeper to make sure the instructions for this are more prominently displayed. I am glad you enjoyed your stay at Nanparra Cottage and would look forward to welcoming you back. Property Owner
"The cottage was comfy, clean and well eqipped, with good quality appliances."
A bonus was the fact despite its relatively quiet location it lies on an excellent bus route between Falmouth and Helford Passage. You could actually holiday there without a car. Why the owners and Sykes Cottages don't advertise this facility I don't know. What I didn't like was the fact that the heating system can't be controlled from within the cottage, but only by the owners. In other words, every time you want to alter the temperature you have to contact them.
Thank you for taking the time for leaving your feedback and we are delighted to hear that you enjoyed Nanparra Cottage and the local area. While the heating can be controlled externally, it can also be adjusted easily using the dial inside the cottage, so no need to request this with the owners. Property Owner
"One of the pictures of sea view in description is not correct."
That view is 15 mins walk through a path to sea. Cottage was comfortable, quiet and just right.
"We weren't sure if the area at the back of the house was part of this property and therefore accessible?"
Also the property sadly had a strong damp smell, especially on walking in downstairs. Otherwise it was well equipped (though lacked a full length mirror), tastefully decorated and generally cosy. Had off road parking which was welcomed and essential. A short walk from Mawnan Smith and the red lion pub. Also 20 min walk from Maenporth beach. Not too much else nearby we found.
The rear of the property isn't detailed on the listing and is not accessible for guests. The owner will consider adding a full length mirror for 2020. There was a leak in the boiler housed in the garage during the season which was fixed but left a smell which has now dissipated. Property Owner
"The cottage was lovely and clean, it had everything we could possibly need for our stay."
The beds were the comfiest I have every slept in!! The area was lovely and peaceful. Highly recommend the village pud -The Red Lion. Service and food were outstanding. We'll definitely be booking again.
"Fantastic little cottage with everything you need."
Comfortable beds and good hot shower.
"Absolutely smashing cottage, all facilities within walking distance, very happy with the experience"
"Beautiful cottage equipped with high quality appliances, we felt we had come home to our own home."
Will definitely be back again.
"This was our second stay at Nanparra Cottage."
Great location for exploring the coastline in this area. Cottage very clean and comfortable and well equipped.
"Nanparra cottage is a little gem it is in a lovely peaceful location but not too far from places to visit National Trust properties Glendurgan and Trellissick not far away and a local shop and public house just a short walk away in Mawnan Smith the cottage itself is clean and comfortable linen and towels very good quality also very well equipped with everything you need and plenty of space we had an enjoyable week and would recommend this cottage ."
"This cottage failed too meet expectations."
as we had a eight mile diversion to find the place due to the road closure only 50 yards from the cottage. there was no garden just a small patio at the front door. parking was very awkward. drying facilities a 2ft 6 in wide gap at the back of the cottage with rock faced wall and a clothes line . lack of information for services and history of the cottage
Thank you for your feedback, we are very sorry to hear you were disappointed on this occasion. The emergency roadworks nearby were clearly an inconvenience and we apologise this wasn't communicated to you. We'd like to reassure future guests that this work has now been completed and we will endeavour in future to keep guests updated should there ever be a future recurrence. We hope that despite this, you managed to enjoy your time in Cornwall and hope to see you again. Property Owner
"Cottage is comfortable, quiet and very clean."
A great base for exploring this area of Cornwall. Plenty of walks and a beach near by. So good we have booked it again for next year !!!
"A heads-up about the road works 50 yards away would have been nice - our shortest access to Falmouth was cut off due to the diversion."
Don't be so cheap with the toilet paper - a spare roll would have been useful.
Thank you very much for your comments, we're very pleased to hear you had a good holiday and enjoyed your stay. We're sorry you weren't advised about the emergency roadworks, which began at short notice. We apologise for this oversight and hope it didn't present a large inconvenience to you. Property Owner
"We did have an enjoyable week in spite of a very disappointing first impression, but it took some determination and positive thinking."
There were roadworks 100 metres awsy, a bit of a sell( turned out from the oil central heating,) , and the beds were very very hard. One of the single beds was slightly softer than the double so I used that. Keeping windows open and the door to the boiler room shut dealt with the smell, but allowed in the noise! So the workmen turned up at 7.30 am Monday to Friday, starting the diggers or other machinery just before 8am. The roadside front sitting area was the only outside space, but imposible to use in the day. It was nice at the weekend and after 5pm, so we just had to get out during the day. We did like some attractions nearby, especially Trebah Gardens and Helford Pasdage and luckily the weather was ok. The roadworks are due to finish by the end of September, so that will probably be ok but I think it was wrong not to warn us or give a discount.
Thank you for taking the time to comment. Overall we're very pleased that you had an enjoyable week but so sorry that you were disturbed by the nearby roadworks. These sprung up unexpectedly at extremely short notice in order to repair a collapsed duct. We apologise for the inconvenience this caused you. Property Owner
"Cottage was wonderful."
Did not get no correspondance after booking holiday apart from once with address and where to get key. Would of been nice to have had bit more reassurance week before we left. Plenty of sale bumf though.

It was too far to walk to the village for me as I can't do hills but otherwise a lovely cottage with everything we needed even salt and pepper very thoughtful would use you again Regards Sandra Anderson
"We have stayed in many holiday cottages over the years, but nanparra cottage is the best we have seen."
The cottage was immaculate. Set in a lovely peaceful location, yet close to all the local amenities. The kitchen was wonderful. Equipped with everything you could possibly need. Including a very good knife block with SHARP cooking knives! Halilieuah! Wonderful, cozy accommodation with all the convenience of home and more. An absolute credit to the owners, whom I hope get to read this review. We will undoubtedly be booking again, (as my sister in law lives in Falmouth), and look forward very much to our next visit.
"Good location lovely to come home to after a busy day"
Everything was high quality. Beautifully situated. Sykes admin was excellent for a last minute booking but bad that the contact mobile number for the owner was wrong. Look forward to working with you again.
