  • "Ideal location for exploring beautiful Cornwall, everywhere we wanted to visit was within easy reach."

Communication with the owners was first class and I’d like to pass on my thanks for this. The property is bigger than it looks is on the photos with a lovely open plan lounge and kitchen which was ideal for cooking up delicious meals after a day of exploring. Bedrooms were of a good size and a decent bathroom. I have a small Citroen C1 and managed to park in the garage without an issue so a huge bonus to have this available. I would definitely stay again.

  • "Surprised that there was no vacuum cleaner especially as we have a golden retriever, a breed notorious for shedding."

No clothes line. No television in the main bedroom. Parking was awkward with loading/unloading a particular challenge. The tickets for parking at the church were out of date. The downstairs television is old and on its way out, the colours are breaking down. Still enjoyed the holiday stay, though.

If you looked in the cupboard in front bedroom, there is a vacuum cleaner, likewise in the garage there is a washing line, not everybody wants to watch TV in bed some have a life to live! It doesn't matter about the Parking Tickets as annual fee has been paid. Was it rain the week of your stay! As it has been said before "you can't educate PorK" Property Owner

  • "What a great cottage, super clean and literally everything you could need had been thought of, even a box of beach toys and crab lines in the garage."

As others have said, the garage is daft. Even if you can get your car in, you won’t be able to open the door to get out! Still, parking in the church car park is no drama, just make sure you aren’t under a tree or the telephone cables or the crows will “decorate” your car! My only small moan is that on this website the check in and out times are different to the info left inside the house. Check out time on this site states 10am but in the house it says 9am which is a little unreasonable I feel. Aside from that, this was a great base to visit Cornwall and I would stay here again.

Thank you for kind comments, the times were imposed by cleaners without consent from Sykes or us, we have changed our cleaners so future Sykes times will apply. Property Owner

Beds are super comfy & a nice size living area. Parking is not ideal as the garage is only for tiny cars. So had to park at the church, which is not far but no path in places on a narrow road.

What would have been even better would be to have had some useful info about St Isseys for example where you could take the dog for a walk and exercise, I only found the green open space next to the playground on my penultimate day. It would have been good to have this info upon arrival.

Thank you for your feedback We do provide a lot of tourist information for guests, unfortunately we can't include everything or you'll be reading for days! We would advise guests to use google to check out any additional local attractions in the area. Also the local pub is only 25 yards away, they would be able to provide some good recommendations for a good day out as well as best places to walk the dogs. Property Owner

We have been visiting Cornwall for last 30 yrs !so know it well just a short drive to Padstow but other lovely places to visit nice drive to Mawgan Porth and Watergate bay too . Our main gripe for rating this lower was the bed really uncomfortable cheap hard mattress and on other two beds too not what you expect from holiday let when the guests want comfort after active holiday … owner really needs to change the mattresses or the whole bed in double room .The parking is a problem as you need to park inside garage but could not get car into , two other people parked there so not room for us without having risk of our car being damaged we parked on church over road and paid £1 a day which was ok for us not ideal for everyone .

Thank you for your feedback, I am sorry to hear of your experience if you are unhappy or uncertain about anything in the cottage we encourage you to get in contact with us in order to resolve as soon as possible. I am sorry that you did not feel the mattress was adequate however can confirm that this was replaced two seasons ago and is medium to hard. The washing line is located in the garage and hole is provided in patio for this, we will update the joining instructions accordingly. The washing machine also has an integrated dryer. All information in regards to parking is provided on the Sykes website. Please see below for reference: * Please note: you must park your car in Archie's Place garage: the area between Archie's Place garage and neighbouring cottage garages is for turning only: if your car is too large to go in the garage or your party has two cars, parking is available in St Issey Church Car Park 50 meters of Archie's Place, on the notice board in the kitchen where there are vouchers for parking, put on your dashboard and please return when you leave. Further information about the parking is also provided as part of the key collection details sent by Sykes and is available on the wall in the porch and a map is located on the notice board. Unfortunately the we are unable to control the cars in the turning area as they are owned by other properties however hope this did not impact your stay too much. This is not the case as there is a washing machine, but no drying facilities; washing line etc. This did not affect us particularly but a family with children could find it a problem. The sun does not always shine, even in Cornwall and wet clothes need to be dried. We understand the property is still up for sale, we would still book it again next year if still available.

We felt like home. Great bedding sheets. The owner was helpful with our enquiries. Great driving distance from many beautiful spots. -Lovely little property and great proximity to Padstow, Trevone and all the other nice beaches -Recommend a great breakfast up the road at Strong Adolfos Cafe in Wadebridge -Parking a bit problematic with the garage too small for car and need for parking elsewhere -Only real negative was the wifi access which appears to be shared between 2 cottages and very intermittent

Slightly confused regarding the Negative comments by Mr Corr, for clarification the information about the cottage on the Sykes website it says: - Please note: you must park your car in Archie's Place garage: the area between Archie's Place garage and neighbouring cottage garages is for turning only: if your car is too large to go in the garage or your party has two cars, parking is available in St Issey Church Car Park for a small donation fee, it is within 50 metres of Archie's Place. It is repeated on the joining instructions and there is a note reiterating the above and including map and directions in the Porch upon arrival. There are parking vouchers on the notice board which have been paid in advance. Regarding the Wi-Fi, following the comment I have contacted BT and carried-out speed checks. BT have checked line and speed and my findings of 70MB seem very good, better than most peoples home speed. In 12 years of running the cottage as a Holiday Let, first complaint about Wi-Fi. Upon receipt of the negative comments Cleaning Company contacted me asking what and why they have been marked down. Being the next people in the property we were very impressed how the cleaners prepared the cottage. Again, the first negative comment about cleaning. Contact details of the Cleaning Company and myself are available in the cottage and on the Sykes joining instructions, so confused why neither of us were not contacted by Mr Corr if he was unhappy! Our dog crashed out every day due to all the walking that we did! Tintagel,Boscastle,Holywell,Trevose Head, Bedruthan Steps,Port Isaac and Healeys Cyder Making were places that provided memories we shan't forget. Only criticisms...bed not very comfy in one room and the squeeze climbing in and out of the car trying to fit it into the garage. Apart from that we loved the property and enjoyed our stay. • "This is a lovely cottage situated in a really good location."

Its modern and comfortable and an excellent base for exploring this area of Cornwall. It was cleaned to a great standard and we thank the owners for the goodies in the fridge on arrival. That was very welcomed :) We really did enjoy staying here and would definitely consider doing so again in the future and would recommend to our friends and family. Unfortunately, the pub a couple of doors down was closed due to Covid restrictions so we couldn't try it out but I'm sure it would have been great . Maybe next time :) Just be aware that parking can be an issue so be prepared to use the car park up the road. The garage is tiny and there is not much space in the parking block. We have a Corsa and even that was a tight squeeze in the garage but we managed to park it all the way in. We were lucky that he other holiday cottages in the block were not being used so we only had the one permanent residents car to navigate around in the parking block. This was parked poking out of their garage so we had limited turning space and ended up having to reverse out to the main road whenever we went out. However, on our last night we had new holiday neighbours who also parked with their car poking out of their garage and that did make it really difficult to get out of ours the next morning.

  • "This is our usual late Spring getaway location and we have been here before."

We like the village and have many friends in and around so we know what to expect. The village pub (Ring O'Bells only 25 yards away) in particular, is a great place (unfortunately closed until 17th May due to the Coronavirus). Location wise we can't fault it, being close to the Camel Trail and Padstow and the North Cornwall coast in general. The accommodation is comfortable, while appearing rather basic at the moment, again we suspect due to virus restrictions: vinyl flooring throughout. Some of the kitchen implements could be replaced due to wear and tear and the garage parking is very awkward to negotiate. A block of 5 garages which are not really wide enough for anything bigger than a Polo and almost inaccessible if one of the other garages is in use. Support network for the property is very good. We had an issue with the kitchen toaster which had an intermittent fault - resolved within the hour. In a nutshell, we would say it is functional rather than luxurious. Good for kids and a good WiFi broadband signal. Very efficient heating - we had quite low temperatures overnight. It suits us as the location is the single most important consideration. Would we recommend it - Yes. In fact we have already booked it for the same week next year. We hope all the usual facilities will be open fully by then.

The listing should 'assume no parking' although there is a garage, due to the way other people park only partly in their garage or in front of the other garages, we could not get to the garage allocated to Archies Place.

  • "It was an amazing holiday and Cottage."

The parking at the cottage was a little difficult as we were told that were had to park in the garage and that we were not allowed to park in the turn around. As our car was too large for the garage we parked eslewhere (as requested) but everyone else from the row of cottages (some are holiday homes) ignored that request and parked there anyway. If we had have parked in the garage we would have been blocked in. The cottage was much larger than the pictures suggested, lovely location. the kitchen was well sticked with everything we needed to cook our meals. Lovely large fridge and freezer too. Larger bedrooms, with plenty of space for our luggage and clothes. Really nice shower too. Smart TV and good internet connection I would recommend this cottage.
