“The cottage was amazing inside very quirky with lovely bathrooms bedding etc but I must point out that the stairs are very very steep and are definitely not suitable if you have mobility issues bearing in mind you have to go up a flight of stairs to get to the lounge, we loved our stay and the cottage was very clean but I do feel to keep it at a 5*then the windows needed a clean inside and definitely outside and also the outside of the showers needed cleaning around the doors and the plughole in showers need to be cleaned after each departure I'm just being picky as it's so lovely inside I feel just those extra things will make it faultless .”

The property

Nestled in the heart of Mevagissey, tucked down a side road, with coastal walks, beaches close by and a colourful habour, is 47 Church Street.

It is well-suited to families or a group of friends looking to discover all the fine attractions of the area, then return to a cosy base and make the most of the rustic, vintage theme throughout the interior.

Step right straight into the kitchen from the side entrance and feel immediately welcomed, with lovely integrated units, intricate, patterned floor tiles and a small dining area with bench seats.

You can prepare homemade meals and get the group together for a tasty feast as you catch up on your day.

Climb the stairs to the first floor and spend your evenings relaxing in front of the fire, curl up with a book on the wicker sofa or tune into the TV.

A further set of stairs leads you to the bedrooms on the second floor, each well-presented with soothing colour schemes, the double room featuring a stone wall on one side, adding character to the space.

As well as the twin room having an en-suite shower room, there is a family shower room back on the first floor, giving you plenty of space to get ready each morning and evening.

Head into the village, via its winding streets and find the pretty marina harbouring colourful boats, a lovely place for an afternoon stroll.

Find pubs and a variety of restaurants to choose from if you fancy a night off from the cooking.

You can catch a ferry over to Fowey and find even more shops, pubs and eateries, or spend a day at The Eden Project or the Lost Gardens of Heligan, each offering an interesting trip out with the family.

This cosy retreat makes the ideal base for a holiday in Cornwall.
