We would highly recommend this accommodation as you are not only surrounded by Mevagissey's beauty, but are in an idyllic location to visit Cornwall''s attractions

  • "We packed our wet weather gear and headed to Mevagissey."

We found the cottage and car park easily. We were able to drive down to the cottage to unpack the car. The car park is literally just around the corner. The cottage was well presented and exactly as described. It had everything we could possibly need. The bed is really comfortable and showers were lovely. The cottage was always warm and cosy but we still lit the Woodburner most evenings for that extra bit of heat and effect. We were a lot closer to the harbour than we thought and it was literally a minutes walk. We walked the dog around the harbour every morning. There are several pubs and restaurants close by offering great food and drinks. We can highly recommend the Ship Inn to any dog owners. This is the most dog friendly pub we have been too. The staff were very welcoming to us and especially Arnie (9 month old lab). Mevagissey as a whole is a lovely welcoming place and all very dog friendly, we took Arnie to most places. The Fisherman’s Chippy is great for the obvious. Mevagissey is a great location to go exploring and we were able to do something different every day. Although the weather was rubbish it didn’t hinder our holiday and we had a great holiday and will definitely go back. For dog lovers.... we didn’t have an issue and got by easily. Thanks all Regards The Shepherds

Backlet cottage has been beautifully renovated and had a modern but cosy feel. Plenty of utensils etc in the kitchen but not needed too often given the great range of pubs, restaurants and cafes in the village. Would definitely return.

Well presented with great facilities, the cottage was ideal for our family with the teenagers occupying the second floor where they could use the WiFi or watch Netflix when we weren’t out and about exploring Cornwall. You can park up outside to unload and load your car and a permit for Willow car park (5 minutes walk away) is included for your stay. We all had a fab holiday exploring gorgeous Cornwall - thank you!

Well equipped and tastefully decorated it has been thoughtfully renovated with attention to detail and quality fittings. Very close to the harbour, shops and pubs and our favourite was the Fountain Inn. A range of walks straight from the door step made for a great time for us all.

  • "We had to phone the owners the evening before we were due to arrive to get the key box code, as no e mail had been received as promised by you."

We requested that the second room be prepared for our daughters but for some reason this message didn't get through to the cleaner. We had to contact her to acquire extra towels. There were also three dirty towels from previous occupant in the linen basket. Overall the cottage is well appointed and in a good location. It lacked some little touches which would have made a difference. No welcome pack, no hand wash in the bathrooms. The kitchen tap drips which we reported to the cleaner. The new front door lock is very stiff and on several occasions we tried for several minutes to get in before it finally let us. We wondered where a spare key would be as the cleaner did not appear to have one, she had to use the single key we had, by getting it after we left it in the lockbox. XXXXX OWNER'S RESPONSE XXXX We are pleased to hear our cleaner was able to resolve the issues you experienced swiftly and we take on board your comments regarding some little touches that would have made a difference to your stay.

  • "The cottage is in a great spot for access to all local amenities."

Only 2 minutes from the harbour and from some fine bars and restaurants. As the owner provides a parking permit also, there are no issues with finding a space. The cottage itself is very comfy. The super king (or twin beds) was super comfortable and lovely crisp linen was appreciated. A galley kitchen with everything you need, including washer/dryer and dishwasher. Cosy living room with log burner when needed but with additional individual heaters in every room too. 2 modern shower rooms also well presented. Small snag with getting the key-safe to work but phone numbers provided meant someone was there in minutes to help out. Hairdryer would have been useful but my fault for not looking at the inventory. With a wild weather week would not have been much of an advantage. The best pub/eating place was The Fountain which produced fish and chips that will leave you disappointed in any others. Great beers, friendly staff and locals. The Mevigissey Male Voice Choir reheard Moday evenings in the church at the end of the street and anyone is welcome. An absolute treat. A beautiful town, a fab cottage, a lovely holiday.

  • "The location of the cottage in relation to the harbour, pubs and shops is ideal."

We went in March and despite the rainy weather had a lovely time. The cottage has been beautifully renovated. I’ve marked the facilities down a bit as, there’s limited space to sit outside in good weather. This would be a necessity for me on the summer.

We were staying there during the “beast from the east” period yet had no problem in terms of warmth. As it is in a central location, did not have more than 50 yards to walk for dinner.

There were pubs and restaurants within 1 min walk. The top floor bed was so comfortable and the vaulted ceiling room was fantastic. Apart from food and a few bags of kindling and wood for my husband to practice his 'me man, me build fire skills' we had everything we needed for a great weeks stay. Would definitely return or recommend to friends.

The property

Located in the heart of the ever-popular fishing port and village of Mevagissey, this beautifully-restored terraced cottage is ideally located to experience all that makes the village so special, as well as being an ideal base for touring South Cornwall's wonderful coastline.

As soon as you enter the cottage, you are immediately taken by the homely, welcoming and luxurious feel that exudes throughout.

Set over three floors, the ground floor offers a sociable open plan layout with sitting and dining areas with slate floors, and a cosy woodburner adding comfort and character, extending onto the very well-equipped kitchen.

Stairs lead up to the first bedroom where a choice of a super king-size double or twin is offered.

The bathroom sits conveniently next to this bedroom and then it's up a few more stairs to the second floor where a king-size double bedroom has the added benefit of its own en-suite shower room.

Mevagissey is a thriving village with an old-fashioned, characterful atmosphere that still pervades the narrow streets and winding alleys, with countless legends and tales of smuggling tucked away along the secret passages.

The harbour provides safe refuge for boats, and is normally packed with fishing boats landing their daily catch, and there are plenty of seafood restaurants where you can taste the fresh local produce, before heading back to cottage along the harbour.

With all this quaint village has to offer set practically on the doorstep, along with the wonderful coast and plentiful beaches waiting to be explored, this really is the ideal base for a wonderful holiday, whatever time of year.
