Perfect position to the harbour and center. The carpark was close too. The downstairs was cosy and comfortable. The bed was very comfortable. We had a few issues with hot water but it was soon resolved. Overall is was a pleasant stay.

Some plates were dirty. One glass was cracked. An upright chair had a broken leg.

Thank you for your feedback, sorry to hear this ! we have removed and replaced the chair and also had a different cleaner do a full deep clean. our appologies Mark and Della Property Owner

  • "It is small but very comfortable, and cramped in kitchen but use that as an opportunity to take turns."

Maybe a little damp but expected in old property. Nice new shower rather than bath. Extra toilet small without wash basin so recommend taking wet wipes. We loved it. Thank you owners for lovely stay in your cottage. Also take ear plugs if light sleeper as can be a bit noisy after pubs close due to prime location. Excellent

  • "The cottage was cute and just about big enough for 3 adults and a medium sized dog."

Kitchen had everything that you needed but was very small so we didn’t do any cooking while there. The beds were comfortable and the shower was surprisingly good- only downside was there was only one working bulb in the bathroom (plenty of new ones under the kitchen sink though). Unfortunately as the cottage is old there was quite a strong damp smell, which was masked by air fresheners and the chairs and cushions in the living room constantly felt damp. One of the bedroom windows in the top room wouldn’t open and we didn’t want to force it in case we broke it. Bonus was having a washing machine and tumble dryer. Great as a bolt hole as it was literally in the centre of Mevagissey with a lovely tearoom directly opposite. The positives definitely outweighed the negatives.

Thank You for your feedback, the bathroom lights have now been wired up to the mains so this should not happen again, we will sort out the window thank you for letting us know. Mark and Della Property Owner

  • "The Cottage is situated in a great area and close to the harbor and the facilities, the cottage it's self was a bit tied and in need of updating, the bedroom were spacious."

The living area was cramped and dark but didn't impact on the stay as we were out most of the day exploring Cornwall. One big down side for me with the cottage was the sound proofing from the road and neighbors because if they were having a shower, going to the toilet or walking around upstairs you could clearly hear them moving around and if you were a light sleeper it would effect you.

Thank you for your feedback, this will help other light sleepers decide that maybe the cottage is for them , sorry that it wasn't suitable and hopefully you loved exploring Cornwall Mark and Della Property Owner

  • "There was only one working bulb in the bathroom making it dark during nightime."

The window planter was full of dead plants and weeds making the front of the property untidy and spoiling the first impression. The front door and main front window were filthy. The sink in the kitchen was badly stained l cleaned it myself and sprayed it daily. The sitting/dining and kitchen area was very dark, first impressions when you walked in was scruffy. Although the bedroom was much nicer. The knobs on the wardrobe door and the tall chest in the main bedroom were both pulled out we couldn’t screw them back so had to leave both open during our stay.

Thank You for you feedback, sorry to hear all the problems you had , we have just had a deep clean and bathroom lights have now been wired to the mains, we will look into adding more lighting into the living area maybe a lamp. thanks for making us aware of this problems Mark and Della Property Owner

My friend stayed in the double bed, which was made for her, I stayed in the single bed which was not made up for me. However we both had a lovely stay and felt refreshed after our week away. We will be booking again next year.

  • "Kips Cottage is delightful and so well located in Mevagissey."

We would certainly stay there again. Two things to comment about as a help to the owners. The comments in the write up about the shower are not accurate and do a dis-service to the excellent walk in shower now installed. The picture shown of a climb over arrangement could put some people off. No complimentary logs were in the property so we could not enjoy the benefits of a nice warm log burner which was a shame since the evenings were cooler. Otherwise a lovely holiday. Thank you for you feedback, we will speak to the cleaning company regarding the logs these should be put in for every autumn change over. We also will ask sykes to take up to date photos Regards Mark and Della Property Owner

  • "Lovely cottage full of character."

Well equipped & very clean. Excellent location in the village - would highly recommend & stay again. However couple of things worth noting: Sykes advertised discount on Willows weekly parking - this is not true There is no outdoor area for dogs - so you need to walk a short way to find a grass verge Sykes also advertises as suitable for 1 child - the gap between bannisters (& lack of bannister on short bit up to up to top room!) would make it a bit dangerous for a toddler. Front door also opens straight onto road. The character of the cottage does mean that the windows are quite old & drafty, so quite chilly & noisy from the street daytime & early evening. Knowing the village well & having stayed in Meva cottages for many years, the above were mostly points we were aware of and so could work with - but definitely worth mentioning. Overall thank you for a lovely stay!

It was close to the harbour and very easy to get around. My only comment would be that the single bed is a little uncomfortable for an adult. Would be better with a firmer mattress.

  • "Lovely stay but hot water supply was worse than usual and disposal of refuse non existent, we actually took some to the household refuse site at St Austell, other refuse we located a part empty bin, you can’t store it in the property as this would soon make the property smell, but saying all this we are returning next year but hope these problems can be resolved."

    Many thanks

  • "Kips is a cute, quirky cottage and so deserves some love and attention."

The stains on the landing unfortunately still remain, the downstairs light still doesnt work, neither does the DVD player or the heated towel rail (the latter of which was reported to the owner via text but no reply was received). No starter bag of logs (again reported to owner). Covid essentials largely ignored, save for a note asking guests to remove bed linen prior to departure - no hand sanitizer, disinfectant, rubber gloves as recommended by yourselves. Books and DVDs still in situ although Sykes recommend these should be removed. Finally, the carpark isnt discounted and never has been. Owners of Willow Car park have explained to guests of this cottage numerous times but still Sykes advertise a "discounted rate". We love Mevagissey but we won't be returning to Kips Cottage or using Sykes in the future.

The towels are very old and need replacing, after using once they smelled of sweat. The bathroom floor lyno has buckled probably water underneath, the carpets were heavily soiled in patchy areas on the landing and stairs. A lot of dust on top of the wardrobe in the main bedroom and blankets in lounge need replacing. We enjoyed our stay despite the above detailed information, the cottage was in an ideal location for us.

  • "Kips cottage is a lovely little fisherman's cottage in the heart of Mevagissey."

Unfortunately although superficially clean could do with a deep clean and a bit of tlc, for instance lights not working in the lounge and the tv remote batteries falling out when you pick it up. Having stayed in other accomodation since the start of the pandemic there was no evidence of additional sanitisation as there has been in other places we have stayed, the blankets laid over the back of the sofa were filthy and there was no hand sanitiser anywhere in the accomodation . In addition, there is no outside space which is not made clear in the listing, so you either have to be in the cottage or in the village. The facilities are adequate, however we would not recommend to anyone with a dog or with children. The only save in grace, and what made our holiday was the cottages close proximity to the harbour.
