  • "The cottage was cosy, very clean and in a great location however it’s smelled heavily of damp."

As the bathroom has no window or ventilation, and is located next to the lounge, the whole house had a horrid smell. The walls at the top and bottom of the bathroom had black mould on the them which was rather off putting and the wooden bath panel was rotting at the bottom and corner, not what I expected when I chose and booked the cottage. If they could put a fan to vent out of the ceiling it might help but we had to constantly leave the windows open upstairs to try and ease the smell.

Thank you for completing feedback on Shell Cottage. The issues you have raised have been addressed by the Housekeeping Company. Whilst staying at the property, we advise contacting the Housekeeping Company immediately with any issues so that you can best enjoy your holiday. Property Owner

  • "Not such a good idea to put a glass ornament in the bathroom."

We accidentally knocked it and it shattered on the floor ( slate tiles). It took a long time to clear away the glass. But apart from that all was wonderful!

Thank you so much for completing feedback for Shell Cottage. We have spoken with the owner who wishes to assure you that if you had called the Housekeeping Company regarding any issues at the property, that a member of their team would have been more than happy to deal with any cleaning after accidents or damages so that you can continue to enjoy your holiday. • "Shell Cottage was perfectly located within easy walking distance of Mevagissey village and harbour."

The cottage was spotlessly clean, very comfortable and well equipped. It was very easy to relax in the cottage and we settled in straight away. It was a prefect place for us and we would have no hesitation in returning to Shell Cottage again.

  • "Unfortunately we found the bedrooms are a bit small."

One side of the double bed is very close to the window and the wall so we decided to sleep in the twin. The beds were very close together and it was quite a tight squeeze to get in and out.

Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback. We are pleased to see you scored Shell Cottage the highest score for meeting your expectations. It is the coziness of this traditional fisherman's cottage which appeals to guests when booking Shell Cottage and we do show the space available in each room through the photos on the website. We hope you enjoyed your holiday. Property Owner

The property

This traditional mid-terrace cottage is located in a roadside position in the centre of the beautiful harbour village of Mevagissey, with stunning coastal views and sandy beaches in easy walking distance.

Shell Cottage offers a charming interior with period features spread over two floors, including exposed wooden beams and stonework, and deep-set windows gracing the lounge/diner and bedrooms.

You can cosy-up in front of the log-burning stove in the tastefully decorated lounge and relax whilst cooking tasty local produce in the modern and practical kitchen.

The neat and tidy downstairs bathroom has a shower over the bath.

Upstairs, discover two characterful bedrooms each thoughtfully styled to create a comfortable sleeping environment and with plenty of wardrobe and drawer space.

On this level, you can access the walled roof garden with timber decked flooring which is your own private little haven to enjoy fresh air, perhaps with a morning coffee or a tasty Cornish cream tea later in the day.

Shell Cottage is a short walk from the harbour which boasts a good selection of shops, bars, restaurants and cafes.

This is where you’ll catch the local ferry to Fowey, which runs daily between Easter and September, take a relaxing boat trip around the bay, or visit local attractions such as the aquarium or museum.

Just up the road you’ll find the Lost Gardens of Heligan – one of Cornwall’s leading attractions.

The world-famous Eden Project and Tall Ships Harbour at Charlestown with its shipwreck museum are also close by and well worth a visit.

This is definitely a one-of-a-kind cottage and holiday destination.

Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £250.
