  • "We really enjoyed our stay and wish it had been for longer!"

! Parking was so easy and close, the people at the car park were really helpful too. We had no problem with noise from below. Welcome hamper was lovely and much appreciated! Apartment in a great spot, was lovely inside and very comfy and had plenty of room for us (family of 2 adults and 3 teenagers!). Being able to leave key in lockable box was handy too so any of us could get in and saves worry of losing keys!! Couple of suggestions - it would be helpful to have a washing line to hang up beach towels and swim stuff out on the roof terrace. Also be nice to be able to eat out on roof terrace. Only other thing is would be great if there was a clip or something to be able to clip the baby gate back/open as we all caught ourselves on it. Thank you for having us!!

  • "Fantastic stay ,cannot fault it in anyway ."

The flat is like a tardis ,and the photos don’t do it justice .It is based right on the doorstep of mevaggissey, but still far enough back that noise is not an issue . Clean and fresh smelling upon entry. Beds super comfy . High quality tvs , wfi connection perfect. The owner left a great welcome pack,no expense spared . There’s also a few games supplied . Car parking which is free when you stop at the flat ,car park is 3 mins away, and the owner of the car park is so helpful. Yes it is above a restaurant which you can vaguely hear until about 10 ish ,it didn’t bother us in the least ,and cannot understand past reviews. We had to leave early due to illness ,which I’m sad about . All in all I can highly recommended this property ,and would return The owner/owners should be proud of themselves .

That’s so good to hear and thank you for taking the time for your feedback, we really do appreciate it, so glad you and your family were comfortable and enjoyed your stay. I hope you are feeling better and welcome you back again soon. Property Owner

  • "We were blown away with the apartment."

Perfect location, clean and beautifully furnished. As the ‘booker’ of all our family holidays I always feel the pressure and nerves of choosing the right accommodation for us all and up until that key goes in the lock there is that little bit of fear of it being a let down. The Bark House was anything but, we were all delighted. More spacious than I’d expected and great that we were so central. This gave our teenage children the freedom that they now crave on holiday. If there were anything I would change it would just be to maybe get more comfortable outdoor furniture and to make more of that outdoor space. Thank you for a wonderful week, we will be back!

Thank you for your kind words and for taking the time to review The Old Barkhouse, this has made our day! We are absolutely delighted that you enjoyed your holiday. This is our first season and really appreciate the feedback regarding the sun terrace - it’s nice to know the outdoor space was utilised so we will certainly invest in more outdoor seating for next time. • "The flat itself was lovely."

It was clean, spacious and appeared well maintained. Unfortunately the promised welcome pack wasn’t there on our arrival but the owner kindly sorted this out by the following morning which was really welcome! Sadly, our stay at this flat was ruined by the noise from the restaurant below. Yes, the fact the flat is above a restaurant is mentioned in the details but the reality of this situation was very upsetting for us. There is clearly no soundproofing between the restaurant and the flat and you can feel vibrations from the music and conversations through the bedroom floors which went on until very late in the night, keeping us all awake and upsetting the children greatly. Sleep and rest while on holiday is vital but this situation resulted in only getting minimal sleep each night and coming home feeling horribly tired and disappointed. It’s such a shame the restaurant noise has spoilt such a lovely flat and a potentially relaxing holiday. We sadly would not recommend this particular place, sorry.

Hi Kate, I appreciate you taking the time to review but I'm a little disappointed and also shocked to see this. Having constant communication throughout your stay and trying to help you whenever you needed it (including getting said restaurant to drop off supplies to you) you never once mentioned to me anything about noise? I would have done all that I could to help. I have since spoken to the restaurant and they have explained they never take bookings after 9 and do all they can to minimise noise; they are also upset to see this review. I'm sorry you didn't enjoy your stay. August is the busiest month in the village and as we are are a central location, some noise is to be anticipated. Property Owner
