  • "We loved our visit to Eldertree."

The hosts Cathy & Peter were very friendly and welcoming, even to enquiring how my husband was as he was unable to travel due to illness. Eldertree is a spacious, well furnished property. Each bedroom has its own bathroom/shower facilities and everywhere was spotless. A welcome/starter pack was provided which proved very useful. There was a super outside space. It would be lovely to sit out there with a bottle of bubbly talking over the day and deciding the next one but as we went in mid October the evenings were too chilly for me. I would highly recommend this property and the whole process through Sykes Cottages was brilliant from beginning to end. Thank you everyone who made this break possible x

The barn was very clean and well equipped with everything you would need for a staycation as well as being very well.located for the beautiful beaches of Cornwall. Owners are very helpful and accomodating, will definitely re-visit in the future and highly recommend to anyone looking for a spacious and comfortable stay.

  • "A lovely clean, modern yet traditional cottage in a rural setting about 20 minutes from Marazion through typical Cornish country lanes."

The owner was very welcoming & cleaning essentials were provided in the welcome pack. There are 3 bathrooms as stated in the listing but none of them are actually en-suite. There is a washing machine but no tumble dryer & the washing line is across the road in a lean to type building, there is an airer provided but trying to dry washing might be an issue if you were planning to do more than a load or two during your stay. We had a lovely week & the cottage is ideally situated for visiting various local attractions.

Everything we needed, extremely clean and the owners were so friendly and welcoming. We were all in need of a break, and this place exceeded all our expectations! The garden was just beautiful and a great place to relax at the end of a busy day exploring Cornwall. The location again was perfect! Near to all the places we wanted to explore, but so peaceful and quiet.

Away from the hustle and bustle but only a few minutes by car from local amenities. A great base to explore the far south west of Cornwall. Particularly good for our family and for me as a cyclist as there were great rides from the door! We’ll probably be back if Eldertree is available in the future.

It was clean, spacious and had everything we needed. It’s along a country road which was great if you like peace and quite and only a few minutes drive to the beach. The garden is beautiful and well kept and the kids loved playing in the garden, I felt safe to leave them to play. The beds were super comfortable, great care and attention has been given to this property. The owners take the cleaning of the home seriously and took all precautions to ensure we were all kept safe during our stay. I really loved this home and would recommend it.

The 3 bedrooms all have their own bathroom which was extremely useful. The upside down layout of the cottage made the most of the lovely views. A welcome tray of tea, coffee and biscuits and milk in the fridge was waiting for us on arrival. Cannot recommend highly enough.

Michaels Mount, The Lizard Peninsular, St Ives and others. Particular mention should be made of the Cornish Seal Sanctuary at Gweek. However, the cottage is in an area where the roads are mostly typical narrow Cornish lanes, drive with care.

A beautiful sight. With Praa Sands beach just a few minutes drive from the cottage, it was an ideal location. We even managed to walk across the causeway to St Michaels Mount on Boxing Day. We have visited Marazion several time before, but never managed to get across to St Michaels Mount. Definitely a cottage we would book again.

Although accessed via typical narrow Cornish roads, it was a lovely quiet place to stay, yet close to some beautiful beaches and coves. The owners provided some lovely extra touches such as freshly picked daffodils, percolated coffee, tea bags , saffron cake and a bottle of Cornish Elderflower Presse. It was nice to stay somewhere where the owner was available should you experience any problems, which we luckily didn’t. Having lived in Cornwall for many years since childhood, it was really pleasurable to stay in such a lovely cottage, quite the best we have experienced over the years since we moved to Suffolk.

The owners had thought of everything and having 3 bedrooms all with facilities is must for different generations. The kitchen was well stocked and we loved the kitchen island a novelty for us. Lovely spacious bedrooms with comfy beds and loads of storage space. Very warm for our Christmas stay and the wood burner would have been a bonus but we were warm enough without it. About the location

PRAA SANDS

Marazion 4.5 miles ; Helston 6 miles ; Porthleven 5 miles

The village of Praa Sands sits on the south coast in between Helston and Marazion. Praa Sands is known for its mile-long sandy beach and excellent surfing conditions. There is a bar/restaurant overlooking the beach – the perfect spot for lunch with a view or sunset drinks. Praa Sands is also home to a Golf and Country Club, from where the most wonderful sea vista can be enjoyed whilst you play. Just inland from the beach is Pengersick Castle, the tower of which dates back to the 16th century. It is said that Pengersick is haunted, and that the ghost of a monk has been seen wandering the grounds! The house at Pengersick is rumoured to be the birth place of John Carter, the self styled King of Prussia and a tunnel which leads from the house to the beach was apparently once used by smugglers. There are supermarkets and other retail stores in Penzance (8 miles) and Helston (6 miles).
