  • "The owners are so lovely and helpful."

We saw them a few times during our stay and would always take the time to stop and have a chat but were really respectful also of giving us privacy. Really well set up for our dog with bed,dog bowls and treats. The hut had everything a more with the tea coffee and milk and all kitchen utensils, cleaning products and towels. The fire was amazing and really warmed the hut and it stayed warms for days. Hot Tub was obviously a winner. We are people we enjoy exploring new areas so we were out everyday. We hadn’t quite realised how rural it was and so had quite a few country lane to contend with which we managed but is something to be aware of. Also phone signal isn’t great but we did find by the fire was the best spot. Overall we enjoyed our stay and very appreciative of the owners for making us feel so welcome. Once we got through the lanes it was a lovely place to come back to and relax and unwind. Thankyou Mell and Mick

Being an women prefer bathroom together I found it small for me and my partner . It had an amazing view and really enjoyed hot tub and firelog. Generally the property was clean and provided us with lots of essentials milk etc and the owner gave us no bother at all very welcoming polite. The location was perfect next to couple of beaches. I enjoyed having BBQ but the electric one they had was not powerful so we brought some instane bbq set from tescos. Overall enjoyed our stay and really liked the view and it was very peaceful. If it was hot we would of enjoyed our time in the swimming pool. If the weather gets better we may return. Thank you for the booking. Kindest Regards Joyce

About the location

CALLINGTON

Tavistock 9 miles; Launceston 11.5 miles; Plymouth 14.6 miles.

Callington is a Cornish market town, rich in mining heritage and overlooked by Kit Hill, the highest point in the area, donated to the people of Cornwall by Prince Charles to celebrate the birth of Prince William. From the top of Kit Hill there are fabulous views across south-east Cornwall as far as Plymouth Sound. Callington is set in the heart of the Tamar Valley, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and offers a good selection of shops, inns and cafes, as well as being the home of Ginsters Cornish pasties. A few miles away, the quaint village of Calstock clings to the steep banks of the river Tamar and is dominated by the splendid Calstock Railway Viaduct, a giant 11-arched stone construction supporting one of Britain’s most picturesque branch lines running through the Tamar Valley. Other interesting places along the river are Cotehele, a beautiful historic house and gardens owned by the National Trust with a small quay and inn, and Morwhellam Quay, a theme park that staged a living history production for the BBC and where visitors can explore the rich mining heritage and watch blacksmiths, potters and craftsmen at work. The pannier market town of Tavistock is only nine miles from Callington and is well worth a visit on your way to a day’s walk on Dartmoor. A splendid base to explore south Cornwall and West Devon.
