  • "The property was exactly as advertised."

Excellent location and amazing views from the living room. Off road parking a bonus and a nice garden area too. However, some general maintenance issues were apparent. The cold tap in the main bathroom is loose. The corner kitchen base unit door hinge is broken. The freezer compartment in the fridge freezer is dirty. The tap in the downstairs shower room when in use is stiff and difficult to use. One of the lounge chairs collapsed due to loose bolts. This issue was dealt with when the house keeper and owner were contacted. We are highlighting these issues, not as a criticism, but because they have been highlighted before. If attended to, would enhance the property even further.

  • "Wow..."

We couldn't believe how lovely the accommodation was and that view. We loved the art work, garden and the beds have a great nights sleep after a hard day's hiking. One of two little loose bits ( bathroom cold tap and cupboard) but at the end of the rental season we always expect those from wear and tear of holiday use . Will definitely recommend to friends heading in the Household direction and might well be back ourselves in the future.

  • "The view from the living room is just amazing- even better than the pictures."

It is a very comfortable and well equipped house. The location is also fantastic- a short stroll to the bars and cafes in Mousehole, which were all great, and a great base for exploring the area. Being picky- the upstairs bathroom and the garden furniture are a bit tired. Also the drive is tight for a big car and then plants really need cutting back a bit for access. We loved the house though and had a great time.

Well equipped and comfortable. Very short walk to Mousehole harbour from the house. We appreciated the parking at the property, as parking in this area is quite difficult.

Our only criticism was an overgrown garden although a gardener arrived during our stay and went round with a strimmer. Had it been neat and tidy would have given full marks!

Thank you for your feedback, we are glad to hear you had a lovely stay and that the gardener arrived during your stay. We hope to see you back again soon. Property Owner

Lovely house. Sea view means that if you want a lazy day or weather is poor you still have a beautiful space to be in. Easy walk to centre/ harbour. Parking space is a luxury in Mousehole and not a difficult park at all and I’m rubbish at parking. Outdoor space also a luxury for cottages here . Had everything we needed for a lovely stay, Would recommend highly

  • "I wonder how often the owners check this house and whether they are satisfied with its general condition and cleanliness."

We found it was distinctly random, with some basic work surfaces cleaned and many other areas completely neglected, resulting in many cobwebs, dirt and dust. Sadly for this reason alone, we would not rebook. We also found the house and garden neglected, needing care and attention, eg broken garden furniture, no door hooks at all for wet coats, etc. very thick dust on the fire surround and covering all the utensils, broken bathroom door handle, shower control sticking and often hard to turn off, random old, not working, or out of date items/ornaments, broken or incomplete telescope…… We felt, given the local shop has closed, at least a pint of milk would also have been welcome on arrival and note that house details, eg wifi info given, in the earlier email, no longer applies. All of that said, the house is in a good position, has private parking and really wonderful sea views. If you feel on balance, that is more important, then it does provide economical accommodation.

Thank you for your feedback. Our usual cleaner has not been available since December, and it appears that our high standards of cleanliness and instructions to leave milk have slipped. We will try to address this. We have replaced the picnic bench in the garden following your comments. We were asked to remove coat hooks as the front door hallway is too narrow. Hooks are available in the hallway cupboard, and there is a boot room in the downstairs entrance. We will make this clear for new arrivals. We appreciate your feedback and are glad you were able to still have an enjoyable stay. Property Owner

One point I would mention is getting into the parking space is a little tight. Going back this year, views are amazing, property cosy

Thanks for your feedback. I will put in the welcome email that the best way to park in the space is to drive past and then reverse in. Property Owner

  • "We have stayed at Wooton Gray several times."

It's a comfortable, welcoming property in a stunning and convenient location and it has parking - a real bonus in Mousehole! The recent innovations downstairs are excellent, particularly the shower room. The only reservation I have about the shower room is that there are no grab rails, which for older visitors (such as us) makes it a little difficult to use. A couple of minor points: clothes hooks on the inside of the shower room door would be good and a rack for shampoo etc. fixed to the wall in the shower. Unfortunately, this was our last visit to WG - not because of anything wrong with the property, we have loved staying there, but this time we found the journey down and back, the hill and the steps challenging. So, with regret, we have said "Goodbye" to Wooton Gray and West Cornwall. We shall be scouring your property list for something nearer to home.

It has actually been enhanced on this occasion by the recent addition of the excellent wet room, utility room and lounge, leading out to the patio ‘sun trap’ in the garden. Will hopefully return in the near future for another relaxing break. Thanks to Sarah, who does a great job looking after Wootton Gray.

It has fantastic sea views, is clean, comfortable, spacious and well equipped. We felt very welcome and appreciated all the information available. Would definitely recommend, although not suitable for anyone with mobility issues, and we hope to return at some time in the future.

  • "This cottage is well equipped but facilities are dated, paintwork is grubby and kitchen cupboard doors were dirty."

It was surface clean but things like the cooker hood and light fittings etc were very dusty. There were cobwebs in every corner and in the main bedroom, there was a cobweb that extended across the whole width of the bed head!! The toilet bowl in the downstairs toilet leaked and had apparently been a problem for a long time looking at the faults book! The main reason I booked this cottage was it’s position and the views which were decidedly marred by the fact that the picture window in the lounge had blown and the telescope that was featured didn’t work either. Being health care professionals, we are very aware of the covid requirements and we didn’t consider this cottage to be covid ready. It is a shame that the owners did not take the opportunity of lockdown to address some if not all of the issues that I have outlined. This cottage is up a fairly steep bank and, along with the stairs is really not suitable for anyone with mobility problems.

Thank you for your feedback. I am sorry that you felt the property fell below your expectations. I have passed on comments regarding cupboard doors, cooker hood, light fittings and cobwebs to our normally excellent cleaner. She has assured me that she will pay particular attention to these areas in future. The toilet bowl has been repaired recently and the leak now appears very slow, but I have arranged for a replacement to be fitted as soon as possible. I’m afraid I was unaware of any problems with the main picture window. I have arranged a date for a specialist glazing company to come and address the issue. The telescope is unfortunately a very sensitive instrument! It does work well but does require careful focusing. We have taken the current situation with Covid very seriously indeed and can fully understand the anxieties and concerns that our guests may have which is why we have taken multiple Covid precautions at the property and these should have been outlined in an email sent before arrival. The property listing on Sykes states ‘Steep steps to front door make the property unsuitable for guests with mobility issues’. We hope to complete our usual schedule of necessary updates during the winter months and will ensure to address the areas you have highlighted. Property Owner

  • "We have many years of experience of renting property all over the world and Wootton Gray comes high on our list but there is stiff competition in the South West."

Before we would go there again there are some things we would like to see changed. The location is superb but the house needs someone to go through it to clear the clutter of superfluous kitchen and dining equipment, non perishable food, extra cleaning materials and old brochures and leaflets, etc, including a non-working monocular with a stand. The instructions were clear and helpful. Pillows and cushions were tired and lumpy in some instances.

The owners are delighted that Wootton Gray is high on your list of places to stay in the South West. The owners will ensure that all brochures are current and that any lumpy pillows are replaced. Property Owner

The property

The views of the Bay from the sitting room in this fabulous detached property are breathtaking, and can be enjoyed at all times of the year with the luxury of full central heating and a log burner.

The sitting room has a dining table at one end with a large open glass serving hatch to enable the chef to marvel at the views at the same time as cooking in the well equipped kitchen.

There is a double, a twin and a family bathroom on the living floor.

A real bonus is that there is a further double bedroom with a modern shower room and further sitting area downstairs, which has it's own access to the patio and garden.

Off road parking for one car is a real treat in Mousehole, and yet the property is within easy walking distance of the village amenities and harbour.

The Old Coastguard At Christmas it is the focal point for the famous Mousehole Christmas Lights when the village is illuminated by over 7,000 bulbs.

Mousehole is an ideal location from which to explore the Lands End peninsula; walk the south west coast path, surf the waves at Sennen, learn to sail in Marazion or explore the old tin mines perched dramatically on the cliffs below Pendeen.

The white sands of Porthcurno, Porthgwarra, Sennen and St Ives should satisfy beach goers whilst garden lovers will be kept happy with a trip to Trengwainton, famous for the early spring blooms of rhododendrons and camellias.

For an evening to remember, take a picnic, a blanket and enjoy a moonlit play the Minack Theatre, but be sure to book ahead.

The glittering sea as a backdrop, is simply magical!
