  • "We arrived in the pouring rain but what a welcome sight when we opened the door of Mary's House."

Beautifully furnished to a very high standard, we were delighted with our choice. Viv and Thane had thought of everything to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable, including a very generous welcome gift of local produce. We walked and cycled around the area over the next week. There are numerous paths/trails to follow. Falmouth is a short boat ride from Flushing if you don't fancy driving. We were very lucky to have beautiful weather so we enjoyed breakfast in the morning and drinks in the evening in the garden. We ate in The Lemon Arms opposite, Castaways and Pandora Inn, all of which were excellent. The Food Barn in Flushing sells locally produced food and products, with live music on Wed evenings, and the most amazing view. The village shop in Mylor has everything you could possibly need. The house had a great selection of books, DVDs and games (we even had our own Quiz Night as the quiz at The Lemon Arms is very popular and was fully booked). There are a number of lovely beaches within a short drive, which never felt overcrowded despite the great weather. All in all, we had a terrific week in Cornwall, enhanced by a very enjoyable stay in Mary's House. C, M, A & O

Enclosed, safe garden for the dogs and all dog beds and bowls provided. Fantastic welcome pack, much appreciated after a long journey. Cottage decor was lovely, especially owners own art on the walls. Bit of a shame about the surprising amount of traffic noise late night and early morning. With the hot weather we had to have the bedroom windows open so unfortunately this did affect our sleep. Also having to use steps to get up into the bath wasn’t ideal as my wife has mobility issues so perhaps this needs to be flagged in the cottage details. Pub across the road was fab - we ate there three times - and Cafe Mylor down by the harbour was great, as was Castaways restaurant. Loads of lovely places to eat/ drink in Falmouth - such a fabulous area, we really loved it. With two dogs it was a shame so many beaches were not dog friendly, but perhaps we should have researched better.
