  • "The cottage was lovely and comfortable and felt like a home."

It was also was central to a lot of walks, interesting villages and easy for food shopping. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay with friends and would come back. Just a small issue - the window in the end bedroom (double and single bed) is stuck. The fanlight opened but the main window seemed to have been painted shut.

Thank you for your feedback so pleased you enjoyed Heather Cottage. Just a little update we are going to have the windows replaced. We would very much like to welcome you back in the future. Property Owner

It is very comfortable, lwith lovely tasteful decor and in a great private location easily accessible to the sights. The children loved the garden, and there was an ample supply of games, toys and entertainment. The pool table and piano also gave us plenty of amusement, the warm Aga was a bonus for our family dinners and gathering on those cool evenings. . A perfect space for all.

Delighted you made the most of our lovely cottage. Property Owner

  • "An absolute gem of a property in a beautiful location."

We were blessed with good weather for the entire week which allowed us to eat and drink outside and enjoy the sounds of the ford and wildlife. Perfectly placed for visiting sights in West Cornwall as well, with Penzance and St Ives a mere 10-15 drive away, and some great pubs within a short drive as well. Shout out to the Coldstreamer for a great quiz night! Will definitely look at booking again.

So glad you could enjoy the outside, I love it in the valley and must try the pub quiz! Thank you. Property Owner

Beautifully presented and very comfortable. All rooms very spacious. Very well equipped, we had everything we needed. In a lovely setting. Only a short drive to both Penzance and St Ives.

  • "Absolutely gorgeous place."

Our three-generational party were very happy there and everyone said it was the best cottage we've rented. Thank you. It was also so refreshing to have such lovely art, ceramic, textiles there... Our boys loved the swings, and everyone played the piano. There were early morning trips to see dawn from St Ives and Penzance harbours - very close to north and south coasts as well as magnificent inland scenery eg. Trencrom fort. We booked for next year while we were still there!

  • "A very comfortable, well equipped cottage."

The mini pool table provided a lot of fun. A great location for reaching beaches and countryside, but the access road would challenge some drivers. The only real problem was a complete lack of cupboards for storing food. The only cupboard was full of the owner's food.

I'm glad you enjoyed your stay at Heather Cottage, we love it there. The cottage is certainly down some country roads and it does have two access ways to the parking area, one a little wider than the other! I'm sorry that you did not feel there was a place for your food. We do have the shelf above the back sink that is empty for storing our things when we visit, cereals, vegetables and the like. We like to keep our food cupboard there, possibly providing guests with that pinch of herbs, a selection of spices , oil and vinegar, a little sugar or maybe just a spoon of flour that is needed for your cooking. There's even an emergency birthday candle lurking in that cupboard! Kate Property Owner

We had a very good internal space for 3 couples. Had such a good time in its garden. We came Cornwall for the first time and planned lots of seesight but actually the 2 day stay in Heather Cottage has been an important part of our beautiful holiday.

  • "Instructions re needing to raise the key in the lock before turning would have been helpful as we spent ages locked out and had to ring for help wasting lots of time on arrival."

Otherwise the best accommodation ever,. Grounds, cottage, location - so spacious and peaceful. We even had a delightful pet pheasant who visited us morning and evening - presumably for a tit bit.

Thank you for your feedback. The key can sometimes need a little wriggle and sometimes it just turns. Others do not seem to have a problem but we will check up on the lock and maybe change it to ensure ease. The Helpful Holidays Team. Property Owner

  • "Heather Cottage wasn't my cup of tea, it was booked because Harbour Lights which we usually have in Mousehole was booked."

It's not a cottage it's a house which is very dark and has very large rooms. You had to have the light on in the kitchen on a sunny day.. The garden though was wonderful and a joy to sit in at the end of the day. I will be phoning you very soon to book for next year.

  • "Great property, lots of room and large outside areas."

Would definitely go again as location was remote yet not too far from large town and small villages and pubs. The 300Gb internet was very fast and useful if working whilst there. A Microwave would be useful. The Aga was useful to cook with and quick to heat/boil but made kitchen area over warm and the Aga remote control device was dead (probably flat batteries). TV Sky+ unit very good but the pin code needs to be provided in the book. Needs care when entering from the north as that driveway is steep and narrow, difficult to see sides in a large car. Sykes showed departure time as early (9:00) but in fact the owners handbook showed a more realistic 10:00.

Thank you for your feedback. We have taken your comments on board. We will be looking into the check in and check out times. Property Owner

We really enjoyed staying here. The garden in beautiful, our children really enjoyed the rope swings. The interior is very homely and tastefully decorated. You can tell the owners really cherish this property. It's a great location too for visiting the beautiful Cornish beaches and is close to St Ives.

  • "This cottage was lovely, one of the best we'd stayed in."

So you can imagine our disappointment when, after arriving on the Friday on Monday coppicing started in the adjacent wood only a few feet from the cottage. We had two chainsaws and farm machinery going from just before 8am every day, 7.30 on the Friday until 4pm. Couldn't enjoy the garden. Had to keep doors and windows shut because of noise. Had to keep the upstairs shutters closed as the workmen were at bedroom level. We were absolutely gutted that our one holiday which cost over £1300 was ruined. Sykes had no interest as it wasn't on the cottage property. We think it would have been nice if the owner's had come to talk to us as we understand they live across the field, but nothing. It would have been nice if they'd spoken to their neighbours on our behalf. They did however manage to come to the garden when they thought we were out but our son was there. The cottage itself, great except we couldn't find a first aid kit when we needed one. Very sad that we couldn't enjoy it and we'll never use Sykes again.

Thank you for sending in your feedback. The work to cut down the woodland next to Heather Cottage was essential work to remove the diseased trees and was being carried out under the instruction of the Forestry Commission; a job that needed to be completed by September. The owners who don't live locally, are sorry for any disturbance but it was something that was completely out of their control. A first aid kit is provided, it is in a prominent position in the utility and its location can be found in the cottage notes within the property. Property Owner

  • "We really loved this property."

It was comfortable and had everything we needed and more. The outdoor space was fantastic as is the location. We would not hesitate to stay again. The only thing missed was a microwave as I have a new baby but I found ways round sterilising and heating. The information pack was really good too. What a beautiful holiday home and thankyou for sharing it with us.

.. Didn't want to leave. A microwave was all that was lacking but the aga made up for it I guess. The beds were very comfortable. Not too far to supermarket. Lovely place to walk. No complaints except I wish I had booked 2 weeks.

  • "The cottage is absolutely lovely in beautiful grounds in a peaceful place."

The beds were very comfortable and the AGA a great bonus. The facilities are very good - but the kitchen seating (where spending time is instinctive because of the AGA’s warmth) is seriously hard and uncomfortable. Similarly relaxing garden chairs would be really good - and a minor point was the lack of hairdryer. Loved the piano, swings bbq and fire pit! We voted Heather Cottage probably the best ever holiday rental. Thanks to the owner and cleaning team for making it so pleasant.
