Lovely to have some milk and biscuits left for me after a long journey. I find the bed Comfortable. Shower lovely with great pressure and space. I only used my car once as very close to the coastal path and cafes and co op.

  • "Lovely cottage, well situated."

Wonderfully well equipped. Nice not to be expected to put the bins out as I was with a different company.

  • "Chough Cottage is a pleasant and airy cottage."

It is clean and has a comfortable bed. The sofas as mentioned in a previous review are not so comfortable. Sykes state that pets are not allowed in this property. However the key collection details (received after all money has been paid and just before the holiday) describe it as ‘Pet Friendly’. Further, in the cottage comment book someone describes having stayed there happily twice with their dog. It is absolutely essential that Sykes sort this mixed messaging out because people with allergies definitely do not want to stay in a house where pets, no matter how well loved, have been staying previously. Also the shared yard described by Sykes as being a place for ‘enjoying a glass of wine in the shared courtyard ‘is stretching it somewhat. The outside yard is excellent for hanging out washing but is in reality a place where the wheelie bins for the cottages are kept.

Thank you for your feedback. I am sorry you believe that pets have stayed or are welcome at Chough Cottage. There is no entry in the comment book from anyone with a dog as nobody with a dog has ever stayed there and the No Pets rule has been adhered to. I have just checked the details for key collection and cannot see any reference to the property being pet friendly but will contact Sykes to check that the entry visible to the public is correct in this regard. I myself am allergic to animal hair and wanted the property pet free. The two photographs of the shared courtyard clearly show its size. It gets the evening sunlight and is perfectly pleasant to sit in. It is described as a courtyard and is typical of properties built of the era, to house tin miners in the locality. Property Owner

  • "A very nice, clean and adequately comfortable cottage which was perfect for a week's stay."

We were very happy with cottage as we were not expecting 5 star luxury. Bed was comfortable and shower very nice (mind the step). Sofa not the most comfortable, but not a major issue. Would stay there again.

  • "Property recently (I would guess) and tastefully renovated to a good standard, and as described on website."

Cosy and comfortable, on the whole. Although I think, from memory, the owners' information pack may have requested visitors not to amend radiator settings, we did feel the need to adjust the heating a little, whilst being as mindful as possible of current energy supply issues. (We arrived in a spell of exceptionally cold December weather and I suspect the house might not have been occupied during to preceding week, so we did invest in some additional fuel for the woodburner - which is a great asset to the house, by the way - and it took a while to warm the place up to a comfortable level. Not meant as a complaint, of course: just an observation/feedback for the owners.) The complimentary "goodies" provided on our arrival were much appreciated - thank you. All in all, an enjoyable winter break.

Everything was cleaned and well maintained with a lovely cream tea on arrival. We were a bit cold on the first night but learnt how to wrangle the radiators and wood burner and from then on we were lovely and cosy. St Just is a fantastic village with all the local amenities and the local scenery and cliff top walks were outstanding. Looking forward to coming back again

Tucked away behind is a compact kitchen space equipped with sleek appliances, including a dishwasher and microwave, for your self-catering needs․ Meals can be enjoyed at the family dining table.

The ground floor also houses a washing machine and has a spacious bathroom with a generous shower.

Make your way up the stairs where the landing offers a glimpse of the Cornish countryside and far-reaching sea views, before getting a good night's rest in the spacious, stylish bedroom with king size bed․ The second bedroom offers comfy bunk beds and beautiful views of the sea and glorious sunsets.

Enjoy a relaxing glass of wine in the shared courtyard at the bistro table, taking in the evening sunshine and the fresh sea air.

Within easy walking distance is Cot Valley and the little secret gem, Porth Nanven cove, with it's prehistoric remains and interesting geology․ Walking north along the S W Coast Path there are stunning views out to sea and disused engine houses dotting the landscape inland before reaching the Bronze Age settlement at Cape Cornwall and, further along, Levant Mine and Beam Engine, now preserved by the National Trust․ A short distance to the south is Sennen - a large, sandy beach loved by families and surfers alike․ This area offers outstanding, awe-inspiring views and true Cornish beauty.

Within a short drive, or using the open-top bus, are many other fascinating places to see and visit․ Geevor Mine, the fabulous outdoor Minack Theatre above the stunning Porthcurno Beach and must-visit Museum of Global Communications; Penzance and Penlee House Museum and the outdoor Jubilee Pool.

The beautiful fishing villages of Newlyn, Mousehole and St Ives are all within very easy striking distance and, for plant lovers, Trengwainton Gardens run by the National Trust.
