“Lovely cottage had everything we needed when we arrived.”

The property

Chough Cottage is located in the quiet Cornish town of St Just - a stunning end-terrace old granite cottage sleeping four, boasting a fusion of modern fittings whilst retaining the character of a miner's home.

Make your way inside straight into the light and airy open-plan living room with original beams where the morning sun streams in across the solid oak floor․ In the evenings settle down in front of the wood burning stove for an intimate cosy evening in front of the TV or fun and games with the family.

Tucked away behind is a compact kitchen space equipped with sleek appliances, including a dishwasher and microwave, for your self-catering needs․ Meals can be enjoyed at the family dining table.

The ground floor also houses a washing machine and has a spacious bathroom with a generous shower.

Make your way up the stairs where the landing offers a glimpse of the Cornish countryside and far-reaching sea views, before getting a good night's rest in the spacious, stylish bedroom with king size bed․ The second bedroom offers comfy bunk beds and beautiful views of the sea and glorious sunsets.

Enjoy a relaxing glass of wine in the shared courtyard at the bistro table, taking in the evening sunshine and the fresh sea air.

The town centre itself is a short stroll away from Chough Cottage and boasts all amenities needed for your stay with several lovely cafes, welcoming pubs, take-away options, a good supermarket and several independent food stores as well as many interesting galleries and art and craft shops․ Something for everyone.

St Just-in-Penwith is the furthest westerly town in England, close to Land's End, and part of a World Heritage Site designated for it's long and interesting tin mining history․ In the centre of the town is Plain-an-Gwarry, an open air theatre used for miracle plays in medieval times and revived for 2021․ This space is also used for the Lafrowda, week long, festival.

Within easy walking distance is Cot Valley and the little secret gem, Porth Nanven cove, with it's prehistoric remains and interesting geology․ Walking north along the S W Coast Path there are stunning views out to sea and disused engine houses dotting the landscape inland before reaching the Bronze Age settlement at Cape Cornwall and, further along, Levant Mine and Beam Engine, now preserved by the National Trust․ A short distance to the south is Sennen - a large, sandy beach loved by families and surfers alike․ This area offers outstanding, awe-inspiring views and true Cornish beauty.

Within a short drive, or using the open-top bus, are many other fascinating places to see and visit․ Geevor Mine, the fabulous outdoor Minack Theatre above the stunning Porthcurno Beach and must-visit Museum of Global Communications; Penzance and Penlee House Museum and the outdoor Jubilee Pool.

The beautiful fishing villages of Newlyn, Mousehole and St Ives are all within very easy striking distance and, for plant lovers, Trengwainton Gardens run by the National Trust.

Chough Cottage provides a great welcome for an unforgettable escape to west Cornwall.
