  • “This is not a criticism.”

Just wanted to let the owner know that the bath plug doesn't drain properly and the guttering over the back door is full of weeds, when it rains it overflows quite badly.

The property

Enjoying a central, position within the fishing port of Newlyn on the southwest Cornwall coast is this new renovated idyllic terrace retreat, Alice Cottage.

This coastal hideaway is perfect for couples and small families seeking to explore this corner of Cornwall’s glorious beaches, historical landmarks and an abundance of wildlife awaiting to be admired.

Due to its elevated position you have glimpses of the sea from the front of the cottage.

The newly renovated interior of the property boasts a seamless blend of contemporary and character, which is highlighted within the sitting/dining room where the exposed brick walls complements the stylish furnishings and the cosy wood burning stove fills the room with a gentle warmth during those chilly winter months.

The charm of the property is continued into the kitchen, where the refreshing colour palette offers a delightful space to rustle up home-cooked meals during a relaxing evening in.

More casual moments can be enjoyed at the stylish breakfast bar, whilst the dining table is well-presented for enjoying those delicious evening meals.

As the evening draws to a close, head up the staircase to be welcomed by two brightly-decorated bedrooms, both offering a refreshing ambience to return to each evening and to wake up to each morning, creating a truly uplifting space for a week-long break.

Outside, there is on-street parking for your car and to the rear is a quaint courtyard setting, where you can look forward to enjoying your morning coffee whilst taking in the coastal soundtrack.

A short stroll downhill in to Newlyn will bring you to a number of shops and restaurants, as well as the bustling Fish Market, where you can pick up freshly caught produce to take back to the cottage and cater your own delicious meal.

Look forward to spending an afternoon soaking up the dramatic coastal scenery from Newlyn Tolcarne Beach or head to Penzance where you can explore the picturesque Tremenheere Sculpture Gardens.

Venture further afield to Marazion and take a boat trip out to the majestic St Michael's Mount.

Alice Cottage is an idyllic base for a traditional holiday to Cornwall.

About the location

Penzance 1.2 miles; Marazion 6.6 miles; St Ives 8.9 miles.

Nestled next to Penzance, and although still a quaint town in its own right, Newlyn is actually the third largest fishing port in England, and an important Port of Refuge for all seafaring craft. This Cornish town is clustered around the harbour, with its historic 800 year old quay (the Mayflower actually left for America from this quay, not Plymouth) curling around a few small boats on the western side. Famous for the Newlyn school of Art and Newlyn Copper, the Cornwall Coastal Path passes through the town, as does the level Mousehole to Marazion cycle path. An abundance of wildlife and flora can be enjoyed along both, with basking sharks, dolphins and grey seals often seen. The Cornish coast is renowned for surfing, and Penwith offers some splendid beaches on which to enjoy this sport as well as surf fishing for sea bass. Mounts Bay also offers a wealth of opportunity for watersports enthusiasts as well as giving visitors an opportunity to relax and unwind in beautiful surroundings.
