“Very steep hill to cottage but views are incredible.”

Facilities were good but could do with tumble dryer and serving spoons. Also little information in cottage. Bus/train timetables would be useful, and details of walks and menus for local eateries. This is the best cottage we have ever booked through Sykes cottages.

The property

Set in an idyllic elevated location, looking out towards the famous St Michael's Mount, is this modernised, whilst maintaining its character, double-fronted detached cottage, dating back to the 1930s.

Within the charming Cornish village of Newlyn and offering smart accommodation for four guests, this is a stunning base from which to explore this magnificent region of England.

Step up towards Sea View and feel its stylish interior instantly upon you, a left turn brings you into a stunning kitchen/diner, comprising a lovely dining table set for four and an immaculate and well-stocked kitchen to prepare those tasty home-cooked meals in.

Across the hallway, find the cosy sitting room, set with plenty of snug seating and a TV so you can choose to sit and watch a favourite film, or simply put your feet up and take in the superb coastal views.

As nighttime approaches, take the stairs to the first floor, here you will find two tastefully furnished bedrooms hosting a double and twin beds, they both share access to a fabulous family bathroom, completing the interior of Sea View.

Enjoy an early morning coffee outside the front of the cottage or choose from two tranquil seating areas to the outside of the property, the small, side terraced garden with borders and benches enjoys wonderful vistas, while the enclosed courtyard to the rear of Sea View is a perfectly quiet spot to enjoy a spot of alfresco dining or a glass or two of wine.

From all angles of the property you can enjoy the views.

You can sit and enjoy the boats coming in and out of the harbour and sailing around St Michaels Mount as well as enjoying the lights on the promenade.

Take the leisurely stroll into the heart of Newlyn, just a couple of minutes away you will find its charming assortment of shops and fine eateries, admire its pretty harbour while enjoying a coffee and a cake.

The neighbouring town of Penzance is a marvellous spot to spend your holiday, abundant in high-quality amenities and offering much to do for the visitor, close to a long stretch of sandy beach reaching right around to the renowned St Michael's Mount.

Other pastimes nearby include the picturesque South West Coast Path, an idyllic route dotted with gorgeous tourist spots.

About the location

NEWLYN

Penzance 1 mile.

Nestled next to Penzance, and although still a quaint village in its own right, Newlyn is actually the third largest fishing port in England, and an important Port of Refuge for all sea baring craft. It is unusual in that visitors can still watch the landing and auctioning of fish at the market, as many families have for centuries before. This Cornish village is clustered around the harbour, with its historic 800 year old quay (the Mayflower actually left for America from this quay, not Plymouth) curling around a few small boats on the western side. Famous for the Newlyn school of Art and Newlyn Copper, the Cornwall Coastal Path passes through the village, as does the level Mousehole to Marazion cycle path. An abundance of wildlife and flora can be enjoyed along both, with basking sharks, dolphins and grey seals often seen. The Cornish coast is renowned for surfing, and Penwith offers some splendid beaches on which to enjoy this sport as well as surf fishing for sea bass. Mounts Bay also offers a wealth of opportunity for watersports enthusiasts as well as giving visitors an opportunity to relax and unwind in beautiful surroundings.
