The property

Perfectly located for touring and exploring the magnificent far south west of Cornwall this charming and spacious 19th house is set in the heart of the historic fishing port of Newlyn adjacent to the town's famous art gallery.

Parking alongside Trevorrow House, you enter into the hallway passing through into kitchen diner with a range oven for cooking the fresh fish collected direct from the harbour.

The sitting room is a comfortable retreat for relaxing after a day out along this magical coastline.

There are three bedrooms , a double with en suite facilities, a further double and a single which along with the bathroom occupy the first floor.

Lovers of good food are spoilt for choice here with a great selection of restaurants and pubs all within a few minutes walk such as the Tolcarne Inn, one of the finest food pubs in the County.

With a host of art galleries, craft centres and pottery studios, cinema is wonderful, the Newlyn Picturehouse, which also has has a great restaurant. There will always be plenty to do and see in Newlyn and try at least on one morning to go to the harbour early and witness the spectacle of the fish straight off the trawlers being sold at market.

All you need for your day to day shopping you will find in Newlyn itself with individual baker, butcher and pasty shops along with a small supermarket and fish and chip shop .

You must treat yourself to a home made ice cream from the famous Jelberts ice cream parlour almost opposite the house, a real treat.

Delightful walks can be enjoyed in either direction from the house.

A pleasant level stroll along the promenade will take you to the much larger town of Penzance and in the other direction a longer but most enjoyable walk will take you to delightful fishing villge of Mousehole.

Keen cyclists can enjoy the cycle path linking Mousehole to Marazion and accessed just a few steps away.

A wonderful location for a great holiday in a comfortable relaxing house.

  • “We had a great holiday in the property.”

It was clean and had everything we needed. The local restaurants were excellent. We couldn't park the car as the space was too small so had to pay for daily parking. Also the road is very noisy so we struggled to sleep. This didn't detract from us enjoying the holiday though.

About the location

Penzance 1 mile.

Nestled next to Penzance, and although still a quaint town in its own right, Newlyn is actually the third largest fishing port in England, and an important Port of Refuge for all seafaring craft. This Cornish town is clustered around the harbour, with its historic 800 year old quay (the Mayflower actually left for America from this quay, not Plymouth) curling around a few small boats on the western side. Famous for the Newlyn school of Art and Newlyn Copper, the Cornwall Coastal Path passes through the town, as does the level Mousehole to Marazion cycle path. An abundance of wildlife and flora can be enjoyed along both, with basking sharks, dolphins and grey seals often seen. The Cornish coast is renowned for surfing, and Penwith offers some splendid beaches on which to enjoy this sport as well as surf fishing for sea bass. Mounts Bay also offers a wealth of opportunity for watersports enthusiasts as well as giving visitors an opportunity to relax and unwind in beautiful surroundings.
