  • "We had an enjoyable week."

We appreciated the welcome tray. The house was clean, warm and comfortable. Lots of fresh fish, pleasant walks into Penzance, salty air and intriguing, picturesque 18th century cottages hidden up the hill. Two early evenings we got the bus to explore Mousehole in the dark and we found more ancestors in St Buryan churchyard. Thank you.

The house is in the middle of Newlyn on the level street near the Art Gallery . It is so well equipped , clean and ready for us each time that we cant wait to get back here. All of this end of Cornwall is easily accessed from here. Bus stops abound in Newlyn and Penzance bus station is a few minutes away by bus . Parking can be tricky but we have not had any problems . The people are friendly and the area is beautiful . We cant wait until next time .

The welcome tray was lovely, and the toys were very much appreciated by my 6 year old granddaughter. Everything was clean and of good quality. The cottage is in a great position. We found the parking a bit of a challenge - there were two cars, and we only found a free parking space once during our stay. We also got a ticket because we didn’t understand the way parking in the car park by the Tolcarne Inn worked - we do now!

) The kitchen was awesome, I cooked most nights and the set up and kit available was first rate. Being in Newlyn, parking remains a challenge at times, but as long as you are patient you can get sorted (Duke St free after 4pm) I would definitely stay at Trevorrow House again, highly recommended 5*

  • "Fantastic location."

Plenty of restaurants and pubs. If you enjoy walking then Penzance and Mousehole are great places to stroll into. Frequent buses to other destinations are all just a few yards away. House was very clean and well equipped with everything you will need. High praise to the housekeeper 'Sharon' we had a small issue on arrival which she sorted straightaway. The only drawback was the size of the parking space but this is well documented before arrival and we always managed to park in one of the side streets.

So clean tidy and everything plus some to help make your stay enjoyable and easy to use.Every type of pot pan and appliance you could ever need made us want to cook every day as opposed to eating out such a pleasure. We even made breakfast and dinners to take out, walked 50yds with steaming hot food to the sea front and ate with the sea breeze and views stunning. It was an a fantastic holiday location for fit walkers and short strollers like me.We would walk into Penzance as a group at a slow pace and i would catch the bus back, the others in the group would walk both ways and enjoy every moment of it.It was a brilliant location base for the area 10 steps out the door and you got a bus anywhere from Lands End to Exeter.such a pleasure not having to drive to site see the beautiful area not to mention the local ales that we could sample and get transported home. The views from the open top buses beats the driving every time as you only get to see your final destination by car on the bus the whole area comes to view.A fantastic location to explore the area and you want for nothing at the house to make your stay pleasurable and comfortable.

All the places around are easily accessible . The house itself is better equipped than any holiday home I have stayed in before and we had much more than a welcome pack . The parking attached to the house is described by the owner as for a small car with a confident driver . I parked a C3 Picasso in there, and that was very tight . Plenty of paid parking nearby and some free places . We loved it and will return .

  • "When we got to the cottage the roadworks that were mentioned were actually right outside the house."

It made it impossible to park anywhere near to drop off our stuff or park on the parking space. We had to park in the pub at the back with costs £5 per day. As well as thus the view from our window which would normally be just road and houses was a JCB digger and truck so it was not really a good view. The house itself was nice and well looked after so it's not the owners fault but I do think your description needs to be better. Had I known it was going to be like that I would not have chosen the cottage

We are sorry about the roadworks - all we could do was inform you about it. It will be completed in April. The diggers have been moving up the road during this period, so we had no way of knowing when it would be outside - this will obviously only be temporary. Thank you very much for the nice comments about the house: we hope you had a good time otherwise, and enjoyed the weather. Property Owner

It was cosy and had everything we needed. The only downside was the parking area. It really is only suitable for an extremely small car. However, there was good parking on the surrounding roads so we didn't have a problem. We hope to visit again.

  • "The property hadn't be cleaned properly- the carpet hadn't been vacuumed properly, the skirting boards were really dirty- hadn't been cleaned for possibly months and both toilets hadn't been cleaned properly either- and had to be done when we arrived."

Really disappointing. The owners offered to have the property recleaned, which we declined. Plus it felt as though both mattresses in the two double bedrooms were of a similarly poor standard. More a basic chain motel mattress than a decent quality mattress you'd choose yourself. The standard of the kitchen equipment, bedding etc was all pretty basic. With a little more time and focus on the cleaning, and investment in the quality of the equipment, this could have been so much better. The parking space is narrow, as declared in the listing, and really only suitable for a small- Fiesta size, car. The location is good- close to Newlyn centre and the promenade pathway to Penzance. Good location, albeit constantly busy road with traffic noise at most times of the day and evening.

We are sorry that Trevorrow House did not meet with your expectations, especially since previous feedback has been so very positive. We have discussed your comments with our housekeeper. In addition, we are replacing the two double mattresses. Property Owner

It is more than a home from home experience & it’s a great base to explore the delights of the local areas. The cottage has everything you need & the place was spotless. Once we parked up on our arrival we never got the truck out until the day we departed. Turn left out of the door and you have Newlyn with its pubs, eating houses, takeaways & shops. Go a bit further & you have the picturesque Mousehole & if you’re feeling a bit brave like we did you can conquer the walk to Lamorna Cove but do your research first

We are grateful to the owner for letting us change the booking twice. We travelled by train so had no parking costs and enjoyed lots of bus trips with our OAP and First Bus weekly pass and useful timetable app. We felt sorry for the man who lost his hat when the wind blew on the open top bus to Land’s End. So convenient to have the bus stops close to the house. Trevorrow kitchen is well equipped and there is a good selection of books (including a series of murder mysteries set in Newlyn). The decoration and ornaments are tasteful and smart. Comfy beds and good quality linen. The keyholder helpfully provided secateurs so we could tidy the grave of our great-grandparents. Jelbert’s icecream, pasties and soooo fresh fish and chips. Super. Thanks

Parking had to be paid at car park behind at £5 per day for overnight use, the parking that goes with cottage is far to small to use and has no dropped curb. House itself was lovely and had everything needed and was very clean and well maintained, lots of lovely takeaways within walking distance but a car is needed for everyday to go out as its a fishing harbour so no decent beach and nothing else to do in area.

The property was well located on the main street, really close to the Newlyn art gallery, restaurants, shops, parks and the beach with additional gorgeous fishing villages such as Mousehole nearby as the advert describes. We could squeeze one car to the side of the house, we managed to park the other car in a nearby residential street, as it wasn't peak season, parking was really easy to find. Lucky enough we got a lady called Laura, who said she would contact the owners, we got a call from the owners, who were very sorry & the housekeeper was on her way, about 1/2 hour later she turned up & said have you checked the key safe? To which we replied yes & that's why we called, when she checked of course there was no key, she said I normally check this! Of course when she opened the door with her keys, the other keys were inside. We also got a text from Laura saying that they were offering us a credit towards food & drink, we are still waiting for this as I have emailed a few times now & no reply We only booked with Sykes because we had a voucher from a previous rental, that we complained about The only fault with this property is it is on the main road, so is very noisy, even with the noise reduction that was carried out at the property, because of this we wouldn't stay in this property again

  • "A really good location with access to local amenities literally minutes away."

The walk to Penzance is flat, a lovely stroll and easy to do even for those with mobility issues. The accommodation was clean and although it is a major route with traffic noise, this was not an issue for our stay - I live in a city so am used to traffic noise, even my country living parents didn't notice it after the first night. Perhaps the addition of internal secondary glazing downstairs would help, but it really didn't impact on our stay here. We did miss having an outdoor space (back garden), but the sea front is minutes away and my Dad enjoyed reading the paper on the front garden bench. This was a much more central location to those we usually holiday in, and we enjoyed the fact we were so close to the local shops and eateries.

Thank you for your feedback and staying at Trevorrow House. We have taken your points on board and have renovated the downstairs window with acoustic glass and purchased blinds specialised in assisting with outside noise. Property Owner

The waterfront walking trail, beach, harbour and a large grocery store are all within 5-10 mins walk. The Tolcarne Inn is 2 mins away and food is outstanding. Mousehole is a lovely 30-40 mins walk .... House is cozy, warm, and very well equipped. We have a young family and there were even toys for our daughter to play with! Very comfortable and close to the amenities in Newlyn including; a great & friendly chip shop, the "world famous" Jelbert's ice creams, Newlyn Meadery, Newlyn Art Gallery and the art-house cinema. Great location for exploring West Cornwall with a fantastic choice of many world class beaches within a 20 minute drive e.g. Sennen, Porthcurno, St. Ives & Carbis Bay. Walking distance into Penzance along the only promenade in Cornwall or in the opposite direction to Mousehole around the coast road. The house is located on the main Penzance to Newlyn road but we didn't really notice traffic noise as we live in outer London. The parking area is a little tight for modern 4x4's but can be done, there is ample unrestricted parking within 50m of the house, so not really a problem.

Felt like home rather than a holiday cottage. Only issue was that the house is right on the main road, so there is a fair amount of traffic noise. However, other than that the location is perfect for walking to the pub, cinema, shop - or along the coastal path to Mousehole (lovely walk and village) or Penzance (not so pretty, but a leisurely nice walk along the front). Would thoroughly recommend the house as it's good value for money and would be more expensive no doubt if it wasn't on the main road.

About the location

NEWLYN

Penzance 1.2 miles; Marazion 6.6 miles; St Ives 8.9 miles.

Nestled next to Penzance, and although still a quaint town in its own right, Newlyn is actually the third largest fishing port in England, and an important Port of Refuge for all seafaring craft. This Cornish town is clustered around the harbour, with its historic 800 year old quay (the Mayflower actually left for America from this quay, not Plymouth) curling around a few small boats on the western side. Famous for the Newlyn school of Art and Newlyn Copper, the Cornwall Coastal Path passes through the town, as does the level Mousehole to Marazion cycle path. An abundance of wildlife and flora can be enjoyed along both, with basking sharks, dolphins and grey seals often seen. The Cornish coast is renowned for surfing, and Penwith offers some splendid beaches on which to enjoy this sport as well as surf fishing for sea bass. Mounts Bay also offers a wealth of opportunity for watersports enthusiasts as well as giving visitors an opportunity to relax and unwind in beautiful surroundings.
