  • "A perfect penthouse apartment in a great part of Newquay."

    With fantastic views of the harbour and Newquay bay it really is the perfect location for a holiday in Newquay. We walked to multiple beaches, shops, and restaurants/bars while happily leaving the car safe in the car park all week. The interior is also great with an open plan kitchen, dining living area with 2 bedrooms (1 en-suite) and a lovely bathroom. The only thing to note, mind your head if you’re over 6ft!

  • "The apartment is in a great location and has amazing views of the harbour."

    It is well appointed and clean and the owners provided extra special touches like fresh flowers, milk on arrival, and a Cornish cream tea. The location is idea for the town in that it is close enough to reach all amenities but far enough out so that it is not affected by any noise from the busier parts of Newquay. Being the ‘penthouse’ the flat is up several flights of stairs and in some parts of the flat headspace is restricted. It is also very exposed to the weather and on one particular night (in a heavy storm) there was a lot of noise from the wind across the roof, and from the various extractor systems. This is probably a consequence of the flats location but may be a consideration for some particularly in the wither months. Although the flat has an allocated space, this was on one occasion used by another vehicle when we returned to the apartment causing us to park elsewhere. The entrance to the parking is also extremely steep and on more than one occasion I damaged the bottom of my car getting out onto the road. Speaking to neighbours, this is apparently a common problem and so we would have appreciated some warning about this rather than suffering from the damage that had been caused. Overall despite the niggles we had a great holiday; and would come back (with a different car). The property is full of character and helped make our holiday special.

    Dear Nick, Thank you for pointing out the noise of the extractor fan. It has a back-draft shutter, but clearly it is not Cornwall proof and we’re having it taken out. We know there can be scraping sounds on longer wheel-based cars, or cars with very low clearance. We have a VWGolf Estate and we hear scraping sounds when we enter the drive but not on the way out. Shorter models don’t seem to experience this. In our case it sounds a lot worse than it is, it just leaves a few cosmetic scratches on the plastic cover undertray. We haven’t heard of anyone suffering anything other than minor cosmetic scratches in this way. However, we understand how it can be a worrying experience, and we will follow your advice and mention it in the description. Best wishes, Peter & Tri Property Owner

  • "Staying at 8 Pentowan was truly something special."

    We have had an amazing holiday and towards the end of our holiday we were sad to go but we can’t wait to come back next year this time for 2 weeks . This Penthouse Apartment exceeded all our expectations .It is Exceptionally beautiful and beautifully decorated and cozy with panoramic views of the ocean and with just 5 mins walk to the beach and to restaurants we couldn’t ask for anything more We will Highly Recommend this 5 star apartment

  • "Great touch with the Cornish tea things left in the fridge."

    Would have been handy to have recommendations for local restaurants as we found tricky to book once there, we should have been better prepared. We went to the Harbour restaurant on our last day and would recommend that, also the activity centre very good and great for teens. Particularly like the windows and how they opened out and all views to die for - very relaxing thank you

  • "The listing needs to be corrected to remove the xbox 360 as the apartment does not have that available, which meant my kids were disappointed."

    The double bed is very very soft. I know that is a personal preference but I would ask the owners to consider a firmer bed if and when they replace the mattress. Otherwise, wonderful apratment with quite stunning views

When we bought the property we sent Sykes an updated description that didn’t include the xbox, but it seems some of the previous details remained in place. We can’t update the descriptions ourselves, but we know now to double check they have been entered correctly.
