  • "Downstairs wc is damp and smells."

Not the best. Other than that fine. Mattresses are a bit low budget and uncomfortable. Windows at front leaked badly. Albeit itcwas an exceptional storm.

  • "We had a great stay at 16 Ocean Heights."

The location of the house was good and we didn't need to use the car at all during our stay. The beds were really comfy and the kitchen well equipped. Could do with a full sized dishwasher for 6 guests as we were having to put it on couple of times a day. The house was cleaned to a good standard. Areas to improve on: the wheelie bin was overflowing when we arrived and the seagulls made a right mess of it. This should have been removed before we checked in and wasn't very nice to have to deal with, but was sorted quickly when we called up the agents. There is still a slight drains smell from the downstairs toilet, but we left the extractor fan on and it was not very noticable. Certain areas needed some maintenace (paint peeling off the ceiling in en-suite shower, weeding in the back garden, rust on radiator in downstairs toilet). I would recommend this house and would stay there again as none of these things had a negative imapct on our stay. It was good value for money in a very overpriced area.

  • "Exactly what we wanted."

We read some quite negative comments in reviews about the property in advance but chose it nonetheless because of its location. However, we had no complaints and found the property excellent and very clean. We had a great stay.

The house was spotlessly clean, well equipped and comfortable. It is in a perfect location, with everything in strolling distance. We would definitely come back and stay again and would highly recommend to anyone visiting Newquay

  • "This is the second time we’ve stopped in this house."

It didn’t disappoint a second time. Perfect location. It’s a 5 minute walk to the beach and a 10 minute walk into town. Dog friendly with a secure garden. There’s a welcome pack when you arrive with tea.coffee, milk and biscuits. We will be coming back next year. Newquay you never disappoint.

  • "I read the reviews when I booked this property and they were good."

I then read them about two weeks before I went there were a couple of reviews stating there was a terrible smell in the house. We’ll we walked in and straight away we were greeted with a combination of damp and sewerage and air fresheners obviously trying to mask the smell. The shower leaks. The windows on the front of the building have been leaking for quite some time the windowsills are expanding due to absorbing the rain water and the carpet was wet on the front first floor bedroom and was probably contributing to the smell. The downstairs toilet stinks of sewerage. The pans in the kitchen are not fit for purpose. I was informed the week before I went that the dishwasher was broken and it would be replaced while we were there it wasn’t . So we were not able to use that facility. Very unhappy that I paid over £1000. Complained and was basically told because I didn’t report it whilst there they were not able to sort the issues so they were not going to do anything.

Thank you for your comments. The dishwasher has been replaced, we had believed it was being replaced prior to your arrival, we do provide a contact number pre arrival for guests during their stay and Sykes also has a dedicated help line for guests with any concerns, we would certainly have investigated the situation regarding the replacement dishwasher or any other concern if we as the owners had known. The pans have been replaced and the shower/pipe issue odour has now been resolved. The windows are still under guarantee and will be repaired. We have also changed our property managers from September 22 and will of course be monitoring and reviewing any feedback regularly. We are truly sorry that you were inconvenienced and of course would have helped immediately if we had been contacted during your stay. Property Owner

Dirty floors on entry also table dirty Weeds in garden 2-3ft high Dodgy balcony very dangerous Smelly sewage mouldy damp downstairs toilet Not enough toilet roll, only 1 black bag for kitchen bin Dirty and dusty mirrors No hairdryer Overflowing shower - dirty plug hole, which then broke and we couldn’t use for 2 days Faulty dishwasher (F2) couldn’t use Kick board hanging off Overflowing sewerage in drain outside Blood on sheets (top bedroom) Not enough seating in living room for 6 people Crumbs and food under sofa cushions No bins in bedrooms Twin room - all pillows dirty under pillow covers and stain on mattress covers when we took off the sheets to leave

Thank you for your comments. Although the weeds were not that high. the garden has of course now been weeded. Regarding the area you have described as a balcony, it is not a balcony as such and there have been no issues raised since your stay but of course the area will be checked. The shower and pipe issue causing any odour has also now been resolved and kickboards have also been checked. The dishwasher was replaced as soon as possible and apologies regarding any cleanliness issue during your stay, we have also now changed our property management company as of September 22, to ensure high standards moving forward. We will also be putting two new settees in the property for 2023 which will seat 7 people. Property Owner

  • "The property was as listed there could just have been a few improvements."

The pans were not in good condition there was no iron or ironing board the shower over the bath made the bathroom very wet and no bath mats as we had children and an older person it was slippery. We also found dog treats on the floor in the top floor bedroom so don't think there is much cleaning being done after the guests leave

Thank you for your feedback. We have recently acquired this property and we are now taking the opportunity in the low season to refresh the property. As you suggest, we have replaced the pans and have engaged a new cleaning company. We can assure you that cleanliness is at the top of our priorities and have engaged a high quality provider. Unfortunately, you did not find the ironing board and iron which, as set out in the instructions folder, are in the lounge cupboard. If you visit us again, please do not hesitate to contact us or maintenance to check where things may be located or if you have any issues. We hope you had a good stay and that you will come back soon. Best wishes, Leon & Nicola Property Owner

  • "House was great smelt a bit damp downstairs and was a bit disappointed on seating downstairs as sofa wise wasn’t wnwoygh room for us all to sit downstairs together a few people had to sit at the table ."

In addition you can’t use both showers at the same time so slowed us down a bit but great location and cleaners were fab thank you

Many thanks for your feedback, hope you enjoyed your stay and that you’ll be back next year. We are new to this property and we are now taking the opportunity in the low season to refresh it. As you suggest, we are replacing the seating in the lounge so it can accommodate 6 people more comfortably. Best wishes, Leon & Nicola Property Owner
