Everything was provided for but we did find the settee uncomfortable. Everything else was of a good standard. The garden is not fully fenced off so had to be careful with our dog as she could easily go into next doors garden. Definitely will come again.

  • "The house, facilities, location and view were incredible."

We have stayed at many beach front properties but have never stayed anywhere with such an amazing view, it was simply breath taking. You can watch both the sunrise and the sunset from the garden as you overlook the sea and cliffs. The beds were comfy, the showers hot and powerful and the apartment itself was light and airy. Sadly the experience was slightly let down by the dust and dirt and the fact that behind sofas, beds, TVs etc it clearly hasn’t been cleaned thoroughly for a long time. Fortunately we managed to not focus on that and had an amazing time, however I’m sure a lot of money is paid to a cleaning company and I’m not exactly sure what they are doing for their money! When 2 teenagers notice it you know it must be quite bad. Communication with the owners and Sykes themselves was really helpful.

  • "This is a well equipped property with a fabulous view (great for watching surfers, body boarders, hover boarders etc) ."

It was quiet in late March, I doubt it will be as quiet in high summer given the close proximity of a number of other houses/apartments. One double bed and one room with two singles (each with their own bathroom) provide flexibility for most family units/two couples sharing. The owners provide a library of books and dvd's/videos (not that we used them) which could be useful for rest days rather than time spent outside of the house. It's a lovely place to stay with a view to die for but if you arrive in wet weather make sure you pack a good rain coat as allocated parking is 100-150 yards away from the property . Dog owners or those with young children should also note that there is a sheer drop at the bottom of the garden. Minor gripes:- some washing up liquid and a spare light bulb would have been nice (we arrived to find one lamp bulb broken). This is, however , a lovely place to stay (as evidenced by lots of returnees. names appearing in the guests' comments book).

The property had a very well equipped kitchen , only downside to this property was the foul smell coming from the drains around the bedrooms ans bathrooms. This really was off-putting.

  • "We’ve stayed in this collection of holiday homes before but this was the first time we’ve stopped at Porth View."

The location is generally excellent for its closeness to Newquay but without being noisy. The layout of the properties isn’t ideal due to the walk from the car park to the properties but this is a small issue really especially if your suitcase has wheels. The car park is quite small and it can be difficult to park if you have a van or larger car, thankfully for this visit the car park was quite quiet so we had no issues at all. Porth View itself did not disappoint. The property was ideal for our needs, plenty of room for 2 of us and the dog to relax with excellent views out to watch the world go by. Communication/bookings with Sykes and the property owner were excellent before arrival with no issues throughout. The property was clean and organised on arrival, it was clear that everything had been thought about for people visiting with us not needing to really get anything but our food supplies for the week. We enjoyed our stay so much we’ve already booked for next year.

  • "The pictures make the property bigger than it is, apart for the views the property is very much over priced We arrived on the Saturday the property had not been cleaned, the fridge had something spilt in in, the worktops had not bee cleaned."

We spent time cleaning. The car park is small and too far away, along way to carry cases. Cutlery had been put away dirty the plates also. I would definitely look more carefully before booking again.

Many thanks for your comments. If these issues were raised during your stay it would have been in our best interest to ensure they were rectified for you. Positive and constructive feedback is passed on to our cleaners and we work with them to ensure that the property remains up to standard. Property Owner

Really clean with absolutely everything we needed. Great WiFi and parking for one car. Views amazing from all the windows at the back - all sea views. Walk out the patio doors at the back and there is a massive private garden with the sea just feet away (although down a cliff side) we were able to sit in the garden and watch the sea and beach. A 2 min walk from the cottage and you’re on a headland with beautiful sunsets and views. Smart TV and a really great equipped kitchen. It was also great to have a washer and dryer. The beds seemed to have new mattresses and the beds in the twin room looked all new, they were super comfy. Really quiet and couldn’t hear anything from the house next door, even though it was a semi. Thank you

Although the weather as expected in February was cool and wet at times wemanaged some walks and never tired of the view. We watched storm Eunice lashing the cliffs from the comfort of our sofas.. Rabbits in the garden and a kestrel hovering just outside the window. A great winter holiday.

  • "A lovely property in a beautiful location with stunning views across the estuary to Porth Island and beyond."

Very comfortable lounge, with exceptionally well equipped kitchen area (I cooked Christmas dinner and appreciated the sharp knives), with useful worktop space. The two bedrooms were spacious and beds very comfortable. The house was basically clean but I did have to rinse out the bath before using the overhead shower - I think maybe the fact that the property accepts dogs make it difficult to keep it completely free from pet hair. For the unpredictable winter weather the house was well provided with jigsaw puzzles, board games etc, though I never tired of just looking out of the large picture window watching the surfers, and on a warmer day relaxing on the balcony after a walk down to Porth Beach. I would love to stay again during the summer months when, hopefully, I could enjoy the garden more.

Property had washing machine and dryer, which made life a lot easier. Also get to see bunny rabbits in the garden. Honestly i would come back again, because of the location and the standard of the property. wonderful memories, and really truly relaxed. As a family of 4 we spent real quality time. The cottage is in a beautiful location, absolutely perfect right on the sea, big garden, not secure for dogs we had to tie ours up on lines when they went out, would be great to make it bit more secure but it’s down to dog owners to protect their dogs, it was a lovely property… bad points to be corrected are: curtains in rooms too long and were a bit dirty, beds need updating, mattresses were protected but not comfortable new beds would be perfect, we didn’t get a great deal of sleep due to this, bathrooms spotless but one in double room could be updated, chairs at dining room table were grubby on the seats, reupholstered and covered in plastic would be perfect, blinds upstairs don’t work, other than these things it was just perfect for us, if these things were updated we would come back time and time again as location is amazing, would appreciate knowing if things get upgraded so we can rebook in future

  • "In general everything was very good."

The location, views, the setting out of the cottage, facilities etc. met expectations and ordinarily I would have returned to the property in the future. However, there was a lot of dog hair on the settee and on the floor of the double bedroom. A pillow accidentally fell onto the floor in the said bedroom and it was literally covered with black dog hair. I did not like this at all. Should anyone else be considering staying at the property, they must understand that the people who stayed prior to them may well have had a dog/s with them and to expect hair. People must take notice of adverts showing 'dog friendly' or 'no pets' allowed.

The property

This delightful semi-detached cottage is situated in the grounds of the Glendorgal Hotel, in the seaside village of Porth in Cornwall.

There is no finer cottage nearby that will offer such luxurious accommodation in such a stunning location and is perfect for families and friends wishing to get away from it all.

As you enter, go up a few steps and it will lead you to the stunning, spacious living room with amazing uninterrupted views over the beach and directly across to Porth Island.

The balcony here will offer a chance, at any time of day, to relax and simply watch the tide ebb and flow.

Go down two small sets of stairs and this will lead you to the two en-suite bedrooms, both with a bath and shower, and both with French doors leading out onto the patio and garden, a lovely spot for breakfast.

The garden is also accessed from the middle floor, and is ideal for both children and dogs to run around, but care must be taken not to attempt to climb over the dense hedge at the bottom.

A short walk takes you down the steps that lead you directly onto one of Cornwall's finest beaches which is sheltered and protected by headlands on both sides, and access to the coastal path is even easier making a walk into Newquay most inviting.

However, for keen walkers, a walk in the other direction at low tide from Porth to Watergate Bay along the beach is a must.

After well-earned refreshments in an award-winning beach café, a beautiful walk back along the cliff path with fantastic views will make the day one you will never forget.

For a shorter family walk, the walk across the bay to Porth Island is also a must.

Accessed by a narrow footbridge, the island has impressive prehistoric earthworks and the remains of a Bronze Age settlement.

Newquay is well-known for a host of pubs, cafes, restaurants and clubs but Porth itself has much to offer with a pub on the beach, an excellent restaurant at Porth Veor Manor, a tapas bar and cafes.

Please note that the beach has a dog ban between Easter and September, making it more attractive for dog owners outside this period.

Whatever the time of year, this wonderful holiday home really is hard to beat for a great beach holiday in a stunning location with accommodation to match.
